Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood and the Badlands
DAY 1 Depart for The Badlands: Depart on your northwesterly journey to view South Dakota’s most spectacular highlights today. Tonight, your Tour Manager hosts a get-acquainted dinner. (Dinner)
DAY 2 Arrive in South Dakota: Continue west and arrive in “The Mt. Rushmore State,” South Dakota and check into your hotel in Rapid City. Tonight, visit the Journey Museum where you’ll learn about American Indian culture and heritage through traditional dance, music and story-telling. Later, a specially catered dinner is included at the museum. (Breakfast and dinner)
DAY 3 Mt. Rushmore and Deadwood: In the morning board the 1880 Train of the Black Hills Central Railroad for spectacular mountain scenery along the tracks laid in the 1880s to service the area mines. Then, visit the famed Shrine of Democracy, Mt. Rushmore before traveling north to Deadwood. Here, visit Mount Moriah Cemetery, known as “Boot Hill,” home to the graves of Old West legends like Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok. There will be time on your own to explore the local attractions, shop or try your luck at one of the casinos. Dinner tonight is included at the Silverado in Deadwood. DAY 4 Mammoth Site and Custer State Park: At the Mammoth Site of Hot Springs see the excavation site which features fossils of 58 woolly mammoths, the world’s largest site of its kind. After lunch at the State Game Lodge, you take to the park’s fields on an open-air jeep ride to look for buffalo and other wildlife in Custer State Park. Keep your cameras ready when you visit Crazy Horse Memorial, the enormous mountain-carving-in-progress dedicated to Native Americans. Ride the bus to the base of the mountain before
returning home. (Breakfast and lunch)
DAY 5 Badlands National Park and Ft. Hays Chuckwagon Supper Show: Begin the day with a visit and guided tour of the Black Hills Gold Factory. Then, stop at Wall Drug Store, a unique shopping emporium featuring western clothing, Indian pottery and favorite watering hole since the 1930s. Then, a local guide conducts a tour through Badlands National Park, a uniquely beautiful geologic area formed over millions of years by wind, rain and erosion. Tonight, you are treated to a chuckwagon supper and cowboy musical show at the Ft. Hays Chuckwagon Supper Show. (Breakfast and dinner)

DAY 6 The Corn Palace: Depart Rapid City this morning to begin the journey home. You’ll make a stop at The Corn Palace, an immense structure of Moorish architecture. In Sioux City, Iowa a farewell dinner hosted by your Tour

DAY 7 Travel Home: Your adventure comes to a close as you arrive home filled with fabulous memories of your trip to Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood and The Badlands. (Breakfast)
