The sun is set to rise on a major tourism tie-up with the Far Eastern sister city in China . Sanya a major city in China offers an eastern golden promise to Blackpool .VIPs from the resort of Sanya in southern China along with representatives from the Chinese Consulate in Manchester and the local Chinese community in Blackpool, met with Simon Blackburn, Leader of The Council of Blackpool who officially signed the agreement.

Blackpool’s Golden dance shoes sparkle in Shanghai This year we saw a Dance competition at the Blackpool Dance Festival (China) which was held in Shanghai for the first time. The Empress Ballroom stage has been recreated, with music provided by the Empress Orchestra and the same judging panel as the Blackpool event. The 5 day event was attended by over 15,000 spectators with an impressive 5,600 entries and 4,000 competitors from 25 countries across all competitions.Unbelievably there are more than 50 million people registered as ballroom dancers in China

A China-UK North-West Golden opportunity in creating 1000 new jobs Chinese investors have visited a site in Wyre to discuss plans for a new power station that could attract 800 million investment in the region and create more than 1,000 jobs. This national infrastructure project will produce up to 900MW of electricity sufficient to power 750,000 homes and could create more than 1,000 jobs in construction and associated industries, it was claimed.

A Golden opportunity for young Tennis Player in the North-West in December A cultural exchange programme aimed at supporting underprivileged but talented young Chinese tennis players, took place in Blackpool over the festive period.Ten children, mostly from low income families in Hong Kong, ranging in age from eight to eighteen took part in a series of tennis matches across the North West aimed at challenging their sporting abilities whilst widening their cultural horizons . The exchange programme is funded by local restaurateur Alan Choi, by a local restaurant owner .

After ten weeks of voting in China, VisitBritain revealed the new Mandarin names for 101 points of interest across Britain, suggested by the Chinese public for the ‘GREAT Names for GREAT Britain’ campaign. The new Mandarin name: Shen Chi Jia Nian Hua translated in English as Deep Pool Carnival, is the name that has been chosen. China is now the world’s largest outbound market, with visitors to Britain already spending £500 million. VisitBritain has ambitious plans to double the value of that market by 2020 and to ensure that growth is spread across the nations and regions.
