The Razorsharps Barbershop Male Quartet ~ Co. Sligo
The TribeTones Mixed Voice Choir ~ Co. Galway
CH O I R I NFO RMATI O N ~ E O LAS FAO I NA CÓ I R
Singing together since 2017, the members of The Razorsharps are also members of Sligo’s Tone Cold Sober Barbershop Chorus - the current All-Ireland Barbershop gold medal holders. The quartet performs locally around the Sligo area on a regular basis. The quartet has competed in the Mayo International Choral Festival, IABS in Cork, and at the Sligo International Choral Festival. This is the quartet’s third year to enter the Mayo International Choral Festival and the members are really looking forward to once again taking part in this year’s competitions. The Razor Sharps - Mark O’Hara (Tenor), Trevor Sweetman (Baritone), John Whitehead (Lead), Barry Mulligan (Bass).
Described as Galway's hottest new choir, the TribeTones, Galway's contemporary choir was founded in March 2018 and is directed by pianist and teacher Sean Rowland. The 70 plus members enjoy a fun and relaxed rehearsal atmosphere with a modern and upbeat repertoire - not a ‘Gospel’ Choir or a ‘Choral’ group but a collection of fantastic personalities with a zest for singing as one, performing and generally loving life! The TribeTones perform for gala dinners, corporate functions, in church, in shopping centres, street performances and for charity events, releasing an original Christmas single in 2018 in aid of Rosabel’s Rooms / The Irish Hospice Foundation. The members are all really excited about their visit to Mayo and their first ever competition!

New members are always welcome and the Chorus has spawned many award winning quartets, including Own Achord, Close ‘n Time, The Sandbars, and The Razor Sharps! The Razor Sharps are also taking part in this year’s festival. Many members are also part of the National Male Barbershop Chorus, Harmony Federation.
Voices of the Boyne Female Voice ~ Co. Louth
Voices of the Boyne is an all-female community choir based in Drogheda, County Louth. Formed by Louise Mahony and with Claire Grogan as musical director, the choir has an ethos of openness and inclusivity. They opened their doors in September 2018, after a call went out online in search of like-minded people to join together for music-making and merriment. The choir has gone from strength to strength since. Within months of forming, the choir participated in three successful Christmas performances and the members look forward to many more events in 2019 and beyond. This is the choir’s first time competing and the members are really looking forward to taking part in the Mayo International Choral Festival.

Westport Children’s Choir Youth Choir ~ Co. Mayo
Westport Singers Mixed Voice Choir ~ Co. Mayo
CH O I R I NFO RMATI O N ~ E O LAS FAO I NA CÓ I R
Fresh from the stage of Carnegie Hall, New York, Westport Children's Choir presents the wonderful, pure voices of 25 talented children from West Mayo! Their repertoire spans a wide range of genres, including Baroque, pop and musical theatre. Formed in 2011 under the direction of Eriko Hopkinson, with the aim of giving the children of the area the opportunity to experience the joy that comes from singing in harmony with others. The choir also aims to increase the children’s understanding of other countries and cultures, through the global language of music. In 2015 the choir attended the World Peace Choral Festival in Vienna and at the Young Bohemia Music Festival in Prague in 2017 they achieved a silver award. Last year the choir sang at Carnegie Hall for the world premier of the children's choral suite ‘La Cigarra y La Hormiga’.
The Westport Singers was formed in 2015 as a community group with a love for singing. It is a four part mixed choir, heavy on the Altos and light on men with their very own female tenor! Their philosophy is that singing brings great joy and that practise must be enjoyable - you cannot leave until you laugh at least once!! This is the choir’s 4th time to enter the festival, and for the first time entered into the Sligo International Choral Festival last year, continually building on their performance experience. The choir continues to sing and give to their community and their Christmas concert raises money for local charities in conjunction with other choirs and special guests. In September the Westport Singers will head to Limavady as part of the town twining to perform there. The choir is directed by Joseph Garvey.

Members of the choir include current and retired staff from the various staff groupings within the Mayo HSE community services, Mayo University Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital, Mayo Mental Health, TUSLA, Western Care and Castlebar men’s sheds.
