SAVING LIVES THE WHEELS OF HOPE KEEP ROLLING FOR NYC’S ANIMALS
ADOPTIONS RULE! Thanks to you, 7-year-old Odie was taken out of the city shelter and delivered via the Wheels of Hope to his foster mom in central New York. From there, Odie moved on to his adoptive forever home in beautiful Vermont.
Moving animals out of Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) shelters to partner organizations continues to be our most effective method of saving lives. The Alliance’s Wheels of Hope vans facilitated 13,200 transports in 2015, moving animals to rescue groups and shelters, adopters, foster caretakers, and veterinary clinics. The Wheels of Hope transported animals and supplies
to and from adoption events, and also transported community cats to and from spay/neuter appointments. In addition, the fleet transported traps to Certified TNR Caretakers who perform Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). Seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, our Wheels turn to create brighter futures for more Little New Yorkers.

THE NYC FERAL CAT INITIATIVE CARES FOR NYC’S FORGOTTEN FELINES In 2015, in partnership with Alley Cat Allies and the ASPCA, the Alliance continued its TNR Certification Training Program, designed to solve the feral cat overpopulation crisis in New York City by increasing the number of individuals trained to perform TNR. The program offers two different ways to become a Certified TNR Caretaker: through an in-person, hands-on workshop in any of the city’s five boroughs; or by taking the online course. Individuals who become TNR-certified are eligible for a range of free services and resources, including spay/neuter, transportation of cats to and from spay/neuter appointments, trap loans, outreach materials, networking opportunities, and a dedicated NYC Feral Cat Initiative (NYCFCI) help desk. The Alliance’s NYCFCI additionally provided specialized training in bottle-feeding, kitten-taming, shelter-building, improving neighbor relations, and other areas of expertise.
Your support helped Willie, a former community cat, receive the lifesaving care he needed. During his recovery, we discovered Willie was human-friendly. Willie moved from his foster home on to an adoptive forever home via the NYC Feral Cat Initiative.

Whether we’re working to move animals out of the City
steadfast is your

support. Every time you make a gift to the Alliance, you allow us to say “yes” to one more NYC animal who needs the Alliance. More pets and people than ever need the critical resources and services of the Alliance. With your help, we can sustain the dramatic impact we have made in the lives of New York City’s animals, and keep saying YES.
