BIO & CONTACT Hello, I’m Mayra, an architecture student at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). Since the beginning that I decided to study this career, I have had a big interest in rehabilitation, patrimonium and urbanism. Also, I believe in creating architecture spaces that resonate and elevate the client’s lifestyle, their neighborhoods, their city and our greater environment. To achieve my function as a future architect, I have developed many graphics abilities to express my designs. Also, by time I improved my design skills and knowledge thanks to the teaching of my university and my auto learning. But I know it is important too, to nurture and explore other contexts of other countries. So this is the reason that I decided to explore and search jobs in other contexts to improve myself and aported with my knowledge developed in Peru. I consider myself responsible for all duties. Always I think outside the box, also putting myself out of my comfort zone, because in this way I have experimented and I have found to be as creative as possible. Through the following pages, you can see highlights of my journey as an architect student until the moment. Email

WOOD AS A STRUCTURAL ELEMENT Design by: Student Mayra Franchesca Chacon Gilbonio. Function: 3 Prototype + 3m x 3m Structure (experimental project). Location: Moyobamba, Peru. Status: Academic work - Course: Design 5. Professors: Arch. Vincent Juillerat, arch. Rodrigo Rengifo & arch. Francisco Otero. Individual work. The course seeks to compare the different manufacturing processes and the availability of natural resources in the selected locations, and generate links with multiple variables, in order to produce value judgments that can later be translated into space. Also, it seeks to understand how the context can condition both architecture and construction. In my case, the location elected was Moyobamba (Peru). I made an analysis of Moyobamba weather and how that impact on their construction (modern and vernacular). In this way, the material selected was the wood, because Moyobamba is one of the best wood producers in the country and also in the continent (South America) . So the sheets that are below show a way to use the wood as a constructive system. There are a lot of systems to use with the wood, but , personally, I elected to use wood dowels (tarugos) for all the connections. The reason for this is that it is an unusual system and gives both flexibility and firmness to all the structures. This course taught me a lot of construction systems with all kinds of materials: adobe, wood, laminated wood, industrialized wood, prefabricated concrete, bamboo and others. So I learned a lot of materials and their systems, but, especially, wood with all their systems. Not only was there a design process, also there was a construction process and learning about construction on a real scale. The presentation is divided into 3 prototypes and a final structure of wood, using the 3 prototypes previous.

PAVILION “FLOATING MODULES” Design by: Student Mayra Franchesca Chacon Gilbonio. Function: Ecological Pavilion. Location: Punta San Juan, Moyobamba city, Peru. Status: Academic work - Course: Design 5. Professors: Arch. Vincent Juillerat, arch. Rodrigo Rengifo & arch. Francisco Otero. Individual work. This pavilion is destinated to be a place where the local and tourist people can concentrate or reunite. The project is located in Moyobamba, where the weather is hot and rainy all the year. Its climate is sub tropical humid so the project responds to the weather to generate an ecological and resistant pavilion against heat and rain. The place has already a lookout ponit made by concrete and tile roof, so I decided to conserve the preexistence and generate a type of parsyte above the preexistemce. On this way I conserve the structure and generate another one made by only wood, because is the material which most use there and for his advantages as a thermal insulation. Also, The new structure has as principal ojective generate a structure that allows light and wind.

GRAPHIC DESIGN These drawings were produced from academic works. But with an independent style. In my case, I explored different styles of representation, from technical maps to expressive maps and expressive illustrations. As same with the use of a determined colour palette for each illustration.
