Covıd-19 Deaths In Turkey Rise To 277 People o As many as 63 more people died of coronavirus in Turkey in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 277, said Fahrettin Koca, Minister of Health, on Wednesday. The tally of confirmed coronavirus cases climbed to 15,679 people, Koca announced. Most coronavirus cases were registered in Istanbul 8,852 cases, which make around %60 of all cases -- followed by 853 cases in the Aegean Izmir province, 712 cases in Ankara, 584 cases in Konya, and 410 cases in Kocaeli, he said. Do Not Travel, We’ll Strain The Controls o Later on Wednesday, Suleyman Soylu, Interior Minister, warned that intercity travel would be further restricted in the coming days, after Ankara limited domestic transport at the weekend. "Our message to citizens is very clear: Do not travel from one city to the other, stay at home. We will make it harder for you," he told broadcaster CNN Turk, adding that one step could be curbing the use of personal vehicles in intercity travel. (Turkish)

Ekrem Imamoglu Calls For A Curfew o After Fahrettin Koca, Minister of Health, revealed that Istanbul ranks first by far in the coronavirus positive cases, Ekrem Imamoglu, Istanbul Mayor, called on officials to declare limited curfew on the city. (Turkish)

Minister Pekcan: We Foresee A Fall In Export In March o Commenting on the recent precautions taken to compel the adverse impacts of coronavirus and recent developments about the economy, Ruhsar Pekcan, Minister of Trade, has expressed their prediction that there will be a decline in export in March. (Turkish)

THY Suspends All International Flights Until May 1st o Starting from March 27th, 2020, all international flights of the Turkish Airlines are suspended until May 1, 2020. (Turkish)

World •

The 3rd Week of Containment in France o The epidemic is still more deadly. The largest increase in deaths was recorded between Monday and Tuesday - 499 deaths. In total since the start of the epidemic 3,523 people died - while the evacuation of patients to relieve the most saturated regions continues. (French)

Are We Able to Detect Coronavirus in A Room or In the Air? o Marseille firefighters are testing an environmental detection system for SARSCoV-2. A mobile laboratory has been adapted to measure the presence of viral RNA on surfaces or air filters. The goal is to help lift the containment. (French)

Coronavirus: Greatest Test Since World War Two, Says UN Chief o The current coronavirus outbreak is the biggest challenge for the world since World War Two, UN Secretary General António Guterres has warned. He said it could bring a recession "that probably has no parallel in the recent past. The number of confirmed cases around the world is now nearing 860,000, with more than 42,000 deaths. (English)

UK Converting A Convention Hall to A Hospital and Testing NHS Staff o The United Kingdom will open the doors this week on what could soon be the biggest intensive care unit in the country, and it was built in about a week. It hopes the solution lies in a massive convention space in London's East End, the ExCel Center, a venue more accustomed to showcasing the latest ventilator technology than actually using it. (English) o Hospitals should use spare laboratory space to test self-isolating NHS staff in England for coronavirus, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said. The government faces growing criticism over a lack of testing for frontline staff who could return to work if found clear of the virus. (English) o Nearly a fifth of all small and medium-sized businesses in the UK are unlikely to get the cash they need to survive the next four weeks, in spite of unprecedented government support. That's according to research from a network of accountants which suggests between 800,000 and a million firms nationwide may soon have to close. (English)

White House Predicts 100,000 To 240,000 Will Die in US from Coronavirus o White House officials are projecting between 100,000 and 240,000 deaths in the U.S. with coronavirus fatalities peaking over the next two weeks. The U.S. has more coronavirus cases than any other country across the globe with 184,000 confirmed infections. (English)

Technoloy Against Coronavirus o "Hi, this is the health office," said the voice on the phone. "Can we kindly take a minute of your time to learn more about your health condition?" Beginning in late March, some residents in South Korea have received such calls not from human beings, but from an artificial intelligence-enabled system. Launched by the Chinese AI pioneer iFlytek and South Korean software company Hancom, the artificial intelligence system is designed to help South Korea better track people who have had close contact with confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus. New Infections Reached To 1,415 in Greece, Loans Are Extended For 3 Months o Greece reported 101 new confirmed infections; bringing the total to 1,415 cases, with deaths rising to a total of 50. (Greek) o Specific loans are suspended for three months. (Greek)

Moscow is the Center of Epidemic in Russia o There are 2,777 cases of coronavirus infections reported in Russia so far and 24 deaths. 1,880 were reported only in Moscow. A Private Survey Shows China’s Manufacturing Activity Expanded Slightly in March o Results of a private survey released on Wednesday showed China’s manufacturing activity expanded slightly in March as factories began to come online amid a coronavirus outbreak. The Caixin/Markit manufacturing Purchasing Manager’s Index for March was 50.1. The Chinese government has implemented large-scale lockdowns and quarantines of millions of people since late January to contain the outbreak of the coronavirus disease, formally known as COVID-19. Saudis Boost Oil Output o Saudi Arabia showed no sign of bowing to pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump to dial back its oil-price war with Russia. Instead, the kingdom pushed crude supply to record levels. (English)

Russia Won’t Boost Oil Output Amid Oversupply o Russia doesn’t plan to increase crude production given the huge oversupply in the global market, according to a government official, a potentially dovish signal in the price war with Saudi Arabia. (English)

Soars Oil Price Crash Pushes Whiting Petroleum to Bankruptcy as Stock Slumps 91% o Whiting Petroleum Corporation WLL has become the first oil and gas sector casualty of the current slump in crude demand in the wake of the coronavirus or Covid-19 global pandemic, and the price war between producers triggered by Saudi Arabia and Russia. Preferential Policies to Cut Tax Load Of SMEs o China is contemplating more measures to ease the tax burden of small and medium-sized enterprises, amid the accelerated production resumption, officials said. Taxpayers will be allowed to report their taxes in April based on the first quarter income, and the tax collection period will be extended to April 24 from April 20. The tax data will partly reflect the production resumption situation, while big data technology will be used to track the company reopening, said Cai Zili, an official with the State Taxation Administration. Production Resuming, Workers Returning in Hubei o With the novel coronavirus under control, Central China's Hubei province is seeing production resuming and workers returning to work, an official said. By Tuesday, 42,130 enterprises in Hubei province had returned to work, accounting for 93.8 percent of the total, according to Xie Gaobo, deputy director of the Development and Reform Commission of Hubei. 6. SPORTS • UEFA Delays All National Team Matches in June o European football's governing body UEFA on Wednesday postponed all national team matches in June due to the coronavirus pandemic. "All national team matches for men and women due to be played in June 2020 are postponed until further notice," UEFA said on its website.
