Minister Koca: We Lost 76 More Citizens o Fahrettin Koca, Health Minister, has declared that 76 more people lost their lives due to the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. Dr. Mehmet Ulusoy Passes Away Due to Coronavirus o Istanbul Chamber of Medicine has revealed that Dr. Mehmet Ulusoy, Istanbul Private Meltem Hospital’s microbiologist and a member of the chamber, passed away due to the coronavirus pandemic. (Turkish)

IBB Scientific Board Gives 8-Artıcle Suggestions Against Covid-19 o The Scientific Board, formed upon invitation of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) in a bid to fight the coronavirus pandemic, has revealed their suggestions. Giving eight suggestions, the Board demands that alternative treatment centers are opened and wide spaces like sports halls are used as isolation units in Istanbul. (Turkish)

Minister Albayrak: Turkey Will Support Workers Taking Unpaid Leave o Turkey announced on Tuesday financial support for employees forced to take unpaid leave amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. "Our citizens who are on unpaid leave, do not worry. We'll provide salary support for them, too," Berat Albayrak, Treasury and Finance Minister, said in a video posted on Twitter. (Turkish)

Minister Boris Johnson is "in good spirits" after spending the night in intensive care being treated for coronavirus, No 10 has said. Mr Johnson, 55, was stable overnight, is being given oxygen and is not on a ventilator, a spokesman added. (English) The Queen has sent a message to Boris Johnson‘s family and his pregnant partner Carrie Symonds. The monarch said the couple were in her thoughts and she wished the prime minister a full and speedy recovery, Buckingham Palace said. No 10 added that weekly calls between Mr Johnson and the monarch will not take place while he is receiving treatment in intensive care. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is deputising for the PM, will not be asked to stepin to brief the monarch on Mr Johnson’s behalf. (English) Dominic Raab to take over prime minister duties after Boris Johnson admitted to intensive care with coronavirus. The foreign secretary will “deputise where necessary”, Downing Street said, hours after insisting the prime minister was still in charge of the crisis despite his poor health. While Mr Johnson remains the prime minister, Mr. Raab will now lead the government’s day-to-day running of the coronavirus response and other matters, Number 10 sources said. (English) People who volunteered to support the NHS in England during the coronavirus crisis are being given details of what tasks they can do to help. More than 750,000 people signed up to join the "volunteer army" - three times the government's original target - to help relieve pressure on the NHS. Death Toll in Italy Is Over 17.000 o The number of the novel coronavirus cases around the world exceeded 78 thousand. In Italy, 604 more people lost their lives in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 17.127 people. On the other hand, the US lost more than 1300 lives in a single day. The number of deaths in the UK rose by 786 people in the last 24 hours to 6.159 people. The death toll in Spain rose by 739 in a single day and reached 13.798 people. (Turkish)

Air Liquide Sells Its Hydroalcoholic Gels o The French group announced Tuesday that it has entered into exclusive negotiations with the Swedish fund EQT to sell it the German company Schülke, which produces disinfectant gels. (French)

Over the weekend, the CDC updated its case count to 304,826 and said 7,616 people had died across the country, but that the numbers were preliminary and had not been confirmed by individual states. (English) New York reported its deadliest day in the coronavirus pandemic, with 731 new deaths in the state to a total of 5,489 fatalities even as Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Tuesday that hospitalizations appeared to be reaching a plateau. The death count for April 6 of 731 marked an increase from the prior day’s 599 new deaths, Cuomo told a daily briefing on the coronavirus. (English) U.S. Vice President Mike Pence plans to brief Congress on the nation’s coronavirus outbreak in conference calls on Wednesday and Thursday, his spokeswoman said. Pence will hold four separate conference calls with House Democrats, House Republicans, Senate Democrats, and Senate Republicans to provide an update and take questions on the coronavirus, spokeswoman Katie Miller said on Tuesday in a Twitter post. Peter Navarro send two memos to National Security Council and president's desk asking for billions of dollars and need for hospital supplies. The Global Economy Just Got A $1 Trillion Infusion from Japan o Japan is committing nearly $1 trillion to try to protect its economy from the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Monday announced a 108 trillion Yen ($989 billion) relief package — a staggering amount equivalent to about 20% of the annual output of the world's third biggest economy. Greece Rules Out Easing Curfew and Brings Extensions to Rent Reductions o Greece rules out easing curfew before April 27 as death toll rises to 81 and the number of confirmed cases comes to 1832. (English) o The European Central Bank proceeded with a landmark decision for post-bailout and now coronavirus-battered Greece, announcing that Greek state bonds will now be accepted as collateral for access to liquidity. Russian Government Issued Decree on Taxes o The number of coronavirus cases in Russia has risen by 1154 to 7497, in 81 regions. (Russian) o Police uncovered the organization of counterfeiters who managed to print and put into circulation about 1 billion rubles of high quality, in the region of Nizhny Novgorod. Jamie Dimon Predicts A 'Major Recession' Is on Its Way o JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon used his annual shareholder letter to detail just how bad he thinks the US economy can get from the coronavirus pandemic. Dimon expects a "bad recession," he wrote in the letter released Monday, saying that in the most adverse scenario, gross domestic product could plunge at a 35% annual rate in the second quarter and that a downturn would last through the rest of the year. The unemployment rate would spike as high as 14% in this environment. (English)

UK : Petrol Price Nearing £1 A Litre o The cost of petrol in the UK is approaching £1 a litre for the first time since 2016. Some filling stations around the country have even been reported offering petrol at less than £1. The key factor affecting petrol is the wholesale oil market. Oil prices slumped in March after a price war broke out between Saudi Arabia and Russia. (English)

Estate of Walmart Worker Who Died From COVID-19 Sues for Wrongful Death o The family of a Walmart Inc employee in Illinois who died after contracting COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, has filed a lawsuit accusing the retail giant of failing to adequately screen and protect workers. Walmart store south of Chicago was not properly cleaned and employees were not given masks, gloves, antibacterial wipes or other protective equipment. (English)

Chinese Government-Guaranteed Credit Support Boosted o China will offer more government-guaranteed financing and credit support to small and micro sized businesses and agricultural and rural entities to tide them over the current tough economic times. The fund will also work with banks' bulk guaranteed loan businesses and is planning to increase reinsurance services by 400 billion yuan ($56.4 billion) this year, the circular said. (English)

China Launches Special Hiring Activity for College Graduates o The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security on Tuesday launched a special employment activity for China's job-hunting graduates in 2020. o The activity, which will last until the end of July, is part of the ministry's special online hiring project launched on March 20, offering over 10 million positions for job seekers. Layoffs, Closures to Wipe Out 6.7% Of Working Hours Worldwide in Second Quarter o Workplace disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic are expected to wipe out labor equivalent to the effort of 195 million full-time workers, or 6.7% of hours clocked worldwide, in the second quarter of this year, the International Labour Organization (ILO) said on Tuesday.
