30 Year Spotlight Story

ROD MITTON 30 YEARS WITH MANTEENA

John Hailey and his wife Jill founded Manteena in 1980, determined from the outset that the business would be built on integrity, quality and a foundation of trust. Manteena has grown into a highly respected, multi-awardwinning construction company, specialising in complex projects of exceptionally high quality.

A few years after establishing Manteena, John and Jill recognised a unique quality in a young subcontractor by the name of Rod Mitton. They were convinced he would be an asset to the business, so invited him to join the team.

“That was 30 years ago, and I’ve never looked back.” Rod Mitton said.

We’re very customer focused, and we have the ability to adapt to meet our customers’ needs.

From subcontractor to sub-foreman then project management and eventually partner, Manteena is well and truly in Rod Mitton’s DNA.

John Hailey was always of the belief that, it wasn’t the size of a business that was important, it was the culture. Collaboration and teamwork have always been central to the Manteena culture.

Combining the comprehensive technical knowledge with detailed planning and professionalism, Manteena clients benefit through streamlined construction processes and project coordination. The experienced Construction Managers and Supervisors tailor the building services to meet the unique challenges for each project – delivering highly customised, bespoke building solutions.

With a proven track record, Manteena get the job done – all the while exploring every last detail to ensure the best possible value is extracted to achieve the final built product. It’s why they’re a leader in the industry.

Rod admits to being intimidated by John Hailey’s reputation in the beginning. Known as a formidable businessman, Rod soon discovered that above all else John was a fair and generous man who valued the importance of family. So much so, that work life balance was high on the agenda for Manteena, long before it became a popular phrase.

“I’ve seen the company grow to be a major player in the ACT, as well as nationally and internationally with the recently-formed Security division – which specialises in confidential security projects. Clients are drawn to that division – as well as to Manteena as a whole – due to the company’s client-centric approach.“ Rod said.

“The reason Manteena has succeeded is because the values set firmly in its foundation’s haven’t faltered. We’re very customer focused, and we have the ability to adapt to meet our customers’ needs. We recognise that as long as we can do that, success will follow.” Rod Mitton said.
