TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS AFFECTED BY COVID-19
Australian privately owned engineering design, construction and land development contractor, BMD Group has committed up to $150,000 to support not-for-profit and grassroots organisations that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through the COVID-19 Community Assistance Program, BMD is providing one-off sponsorships, donations and in-kind support valued up to $5000 to help organisations that provide benefit to communities in the areas of sports and recreation, arts and culture, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, health and wellbeing, environment, education and community initiatives.
BMD Construction Manager Darren Wakley said the commitment aligns with BMD’s philosophy of supporting the communities in which they operate.
“BMD is committed to supporting our local communities as we build essential infrastructure across Australia,” Mr Wakley said.
“We have been very fortunate to have been able to keep our people and projects working through the COVID-19 pandemic and this is one way for us to say thank you to not-for-profit and grassroots organisations for the sacrifices they have made during 2020.
“Our team is truly part of the Australian Capital Territory community having delivered hundreds of housing lots for residents of our nation’s capital over the past 14 years.
“The BMD COVID-19 Recovery Community Assistance Program is our commitment to do our part to support our communities, including those in the ACT, and work through these unprecedented times together,” he said. Each year, BMD commits up to $1 million of sponsorship and financial support to community partnerships and organisations in the vicinity of their regional offices and operational projects. The family owned company launched their COVID-19 Recovery Community Assistance Program to specifically contribute to the pandemic’s recovery which will require a significant response from governments, businesses and communities across the country.
BMD received almost 250 applications to the highly sought-after community assistance program and look forward to working with the successful applicants as they provide benefits to local communities Australia wide.
