BINK CEMENT PAVERS

Pouring Their Heart and Soul into the Family Business

Bink Cement Pavers is an integral part of Canberra’s history; having been in operations for 62 years, they are now one of Canberra’s longest running businesses. Jacob Bink founded Bink Cement Pavers in 1961, after the Bink family immigrated from Europe in the early 1950’s.

Soon after the company began, Jacob’s father came onboard with a wealth of construction experience and his brothers helped out along the way. Across six decades of operation, four generations of the Bink family have worked in the company. Now, Jacob’s sons, David and John, run the business. David says of the early days of the business ‘Our first products were storm water pipes and pre-cast steps and pavers supplying products into the growing Weston Creek and Woden areas.’

David looks back at the rich history his family has in the Canberra region and comments on being one of the key businesses to develop Canberra, ‘Someone had to do it, but it’s an honour to have my family be such an integral part of Canberra’s establishment.’ One of the most recent iconic Canberra projects the team was involved in was the Canberra Light Rail, having delivered the outstanding paving for the project. Over the years they have also supplied the paving for the Belconnen, Gungahlin and Tuggeranong town centres.

Bink Cement Pavers has retained an active involvement in the Canberra Community, recently sponsoring the Saab Australia

Legacy Golf Day which raises money for veterans’ families, and they are an ongoing sponsor of the Gungahlin Jets and Yowani Country Club.

Now, David says the Bink family is planning ahead, ‘We’re proud of our history but now we want to look to the future and see where we will take the business in the next few years.’ With a growing demand for sustainable products with an equally sustainable life cycle, David and John see Bink Cement Pavers expanding their environmentally-friendly practices.

‘We’re seeing a big push for sustainable products in our industry and we’re looking for ways we can reduce our carbon footprint over the next few years.’

Bink Pavers has consistently supplied concrete product for all parts of landscape construction and values the people in the industry.

We congratulate the Bink family on their longevity in the industry and we wish them ongoing success for the next 60 years.

The Bink Cement Pavers name has gained a solid reputation across Canberra and beyond, for 60 years. Sourcing raw materials locally, reflects the ‘Bink sustainable business’ philosophy, which also utilizes 100% water harvesting and 50% solar usage for paver production.
