As the first international art fair on the continent, the FNB JoburgArtFair plays a pivotal role in supporting the contemporary arts landscape in Africa. This year, the Fair will feature 80 exhibitors from 17 countries across Africa, Europe and the United States. Special features include a focus on East Africa with artists from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda to Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan. 2016 Featured Artist, Wangechi Mutu (Kenya / USA) will show video and sculptural work alongside Aida Muluneh (Ethiopia), Jim Chuchu (Kenya), The Nest Collective (Kenya), Serge Alain Nitegeka (Burundi) and Sanaa Gateja (Uganda). A groundbreaking addition and highlight of the 2016 FNB JoburgArtFair is the first ever series of TED×JohannesburgSalon Talks themed on the contemporary visual arts of Africa.
