People come up with ingenious solutions all the time. But only leaders comprehend them. Very often that means accepting failures, refusals, delays, adaptations and, dare I say it, even compromise.

In my past readings, I have come across some of the best articles on " Key to Success ". Recently, one written by our CEO and President of the company, highly motivational, and heartwarming.

This article is mostly from the reader's perspective rather than writer's impression. We know in most cases what we need to carry out to be successful. There is a list of steps to follow based on our plan and " one million " suggestions . We usually set goals and hope to achieve our goal. Let me be clear on one basic notion.

A Goal without a Plan is just a Wish

We tend to thrive on strengths and in most cases don't know our own capacity and limitations. This is one problem; bigger predicament is that we don't know our weaknesses. I am not suggesting to leave everything and take up the project of " Let me Fix myself"

This will only help you when you encounter failure, once you know your weak areas, it will help you determine who can be of help to you.

When I conduct interviews for hiring, I have always asked two old school questions; what are your strengths and weaknesses, to my expectation, I have always gotten an answer for strengths and almost no answer on weaknesses.

People who Don't know their weaknesses have the key to failure. Why?

> They give up easily

> They assess their worth based on their performance

> Blame their failure on to others or external factors

> Personalize failure - don't let go

> Set an unrealistic goal

> Do not make a distinction between Goals and Wishes

> Do not vary their approach - not willing to learn

When you are planning your goals, think about risks and how you are going to mitigate. At the same time, consider external and internal risks. Mark yourself as one of the internal risk. If all factors pointing towards your success and at one point you feel that you are going to fail, Chances are, you have to look into yourself and determine the root cause of failure. We get trained to plan and mitigate effectively because this training and trainers are available. But only you know your weaknesses and you can be the best trainer to yourself once you realize them.
