Introducing Metropolitan Community College Code School Pathways: Earn web development credentials in less than a year!

The Metropolitan Community College Code School Pathways program is expanding access to industry-leading noncredit web development education and training by providing an entry point for people with no prior experience, like high school graduates, first-time workers, career changers and others, to pursue the training needed to attain high-demand, high-paying careers in technology.

The tiered program is designed to create four different technology career pathways to connect regional employers that are faced with a shortage of workers with a sustainable pipeline of qualified talent. Program costs are covered for eligible students not sponsored by their employers through Career Forward and Gap funding, which provides participants with paid training stipends.

Upon successful completion of the 3-, 6-, 9-, or 11-month, noncredit training programs, students will earn up to four digital badges certifying employable skills to enter the workforce as Junior, Front-End, Back-End or Full-Stack web developers. Completers may choose to continue on to MCC credit programs. Apply today at mccneb.edu/Code

Services And Support For Successful Outcomes

Courses will be taught online in a hybrid format. In-person learning will be offered at the MCC IT Express — Ashton location. Nestled in Millwork Commons, north downtown Omaha’s budding tech neighborhood, learning takes place just blocks away from corporations that need workers with the skills being developed at MCC Code School. Instruction is provided by professionals who work in the local industry to ensure delivery of relevant curriculum that was developed in collaboration with industry partners.

Embedded wraparound services, like career coaching, help MCC faculty and staff get to know students, learn about their employment goals and guide them to successful completion, providing workforce support resources and career placement services along the way.

While no prior web development experience is necessary for entry into the program, participants must have computer literacy and an understanding of operating procedures and software like file storage, email, Microsoft Office programs and more. Applicants with a high level of understanding of web development demonstrated via a pre-assessment skill demonstration or possessing relevant work experience may qualify for accelerated entry into the program.
