Angel Guardians, Inc. (AGI) has a variety of programs:
• Community Connections provides community-based opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in, including volunteering, social activities, and utilizing public resources. • ArtWorks provides artists with disabilities a place to openly learn new methods and increase their visibility in the community as artists. This March, artists are hosting a show at the local creative studio Kaneko, titled “Better Together.” • TeamWorks is a pre-employment program which offers work skills training to both students and adults with disabilities. This program partners with local businesses to provide work training for participants. • VSP Club provides recreational and social opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This respite program also allows time for caregivers to rest and rejuvenate.
Helping to underwrite these programs, AGI runs Hand Me-Ups Thrift Store, a shop with everything you need (or just plain want)! This shop is connected to the AGI service building on 156th & Maple. Sam Comfort, executive director, is a 40 Under 40 recipient. Sam operates Angel Guardians under the vision of creating an inclusive Omaha Community. He has been in the field for 20 years, with experience across school-based settings and pre-employment programming. His leadership has been vital to the Angel Guardians team. “The services that AGI offers are impactful not only to participants, but the community. Omaha is growing and has an opportunity to be a more diverse and inclusive city. This includes recognizing the abilities and strengths of all individuals,” Sam said. “I am proud to be associated with an agency that is on the cutting edge of service delivery.” To hear more about our services, or to become an inclusive employer through our TeamWorks program, please contact us at 402-614-8202 or at info@angelguardians.org.
