Entry Level – no formal qualifications, just an interest in the subject
Level 1 courses –appropriate Entry Level qualification and/or GCSEs at Grade 2-1 (E-F) or above
Level 2 courses –
appropriate Level 1 vocational qualification and/or GCSEs at mostly Grade 3 (D) or above
Level 3 courses –appropriate Level 2 vocational courses and/or four GCSEs at Grade 4/5 (C) or above.
All courses are 1 year apart from Level 3 courses most of which are studied over 2 years, and you must complete year 1 to enrol onto year 2.
Apprenticeships
Choose an apprenticeship which is a practical hands-on programme that combines on-the-job training with classroom learning. You will usually spend one day a week at College, and the other four days in the workplace with an employer. You can study a Level 2, or Level 3 apprenticeship and earn whilst you learn.

Jack Plews achieved a brilliant three A grades in his A Levels in Maths, Physics and Computer Science. Jack is starting a degree apprenticeship in process and plant engineering and hopes to become a Process Engineer.

2 Apply
Once you know what course you want to study, visit our website and submit an online application. To do this, simply find the course you want to study and click ‘Apply now’. Remember to submit your application as soon as possible. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis, and many courses fill up fast!

Subject Showcase Event
Our Admissions Team will review your application and contact you to arrange a Showcase Event. It is essential that you attend this to secure your place at the College.
The Showcase Event is the perfect opportunity for you to visit the College and meet your tutors. It also allows us to get to know more about you and what your career goals are, so we can help make sure that your chosen course or A Level subjects are right for you.
4 Offer
We will contact you with your next steps and an offer for a place at Middlesbrough College via email and/or letter.
5 Accept your place
You can accept your place at the Showcase Event, by phone, WhatsApp or via email. This is an important step and will ensure your place is secure for September 2025.
6 Enrolment
Once you have received your GCSE results, you will be invited to the College to enrol. Enrolment begins in August, and you will be allocated a specific date and time to enrol with us. It is essential that you attend this appointment to secure your place at the College for September 2025!
