Around every corner is something else to see.
In the city centre the massive cathedral (formerly a mosque) adjoins the Royal chapel. The tomb of the Catholic Monarchs is found here. Their coffins along with those of Joanna the mad, Philip the handsome and the boy prince Michael can be seen here behind a glass screen.
Behind the cathedral the buzz of day to day Granada surrounds us in the old Moorish market area. Horse shoe archways, tapas bars, market stalls, gift shops and boutiques compete for our attention. Everywhere we are reminded of the different influences of Moorish government followed by Christian rule. In the summer the River Genil tumbles forcefully down through the edge of the city as the snows of the Sierra Nevada melt.
