Virtual Discussion on Trade Relationship between India and UAE

The Chamber had a Virtual Panel Discussion on “Trade Rela�onship between India & UAE” jointly with KIZAD 5th August 2022.

Mr. T. R. Kesavan, President, MCCI welcomed the Chief Guest, Speakers and par�cipants.

Mr. M. Balaji, IAS, Joint Secretary, Dept. of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, GoI delivered the keynote Address.

Mr. Jalal Fawaz, Commercial Manager, KIZAD, Abu Dhabi gave the introductory Remarks and made a presenta�on on KIZAD.

Mr. U. Udhayabhaskar Reddy, Chairman, MCCI Logis�cs commi�ee moderated the Q&A Session. Mr. Karan Kapadia, KIZAD Representa�ve India Region, Bangalore answered the queries of the par�cipants.

Mr. J. Krishnan, Past Chairman, MCCI Logis�cs Commi�ee & Member General Commi�ee proposed the vote of thanks. The session was a�ended by 50 par�cipants.

Mr. P. Senthil, Supt. Engineer-Chennai circle & Mr. K. S. Sadanandam, Assistant Chief Engineer of State Highways Department, GoTN made a presenta�on on “Road connec�vity from Rural to Urban to Metro State Govt. Projects”. Mr. Arun from TIDCO made a presenta�on on “Industrial Estate Roads – Projects, Issues & Challenges”.

Mr. S. P. Somasekar, Regional Officer, NHAI made a presenta�on on “NHAI Projects completed and future plans”.

A�er the open house discussion, Mr. U. Udayabhaskar Reddy, Chairman, MCCI Logis�cs Commi�ee delivered the vote of thanks. The session was a�ended by 40 par�cipants.

Business Heritage Walk

The Chamber had organized for a Business Heritage Walk commemora�ng the Madras Day. It was led by Mr. V. Sriram, Historian. The Walk commenced from Dare House @ Parrys Corner covering a distance of 2 to 3 kms.

Mr Sriram elaborated on how the Chamber played a major role in se�ng up the Madras Port and how it collaborated with Industries and the Government. Around 35 par�cipants joined the walk and gave an excellent feedback.

The Chamber was an Associate Partner of EU Chamber of Commerce in India in the Panel Discussion on “Transi�on towards Clean Energy & Digitaliza�on” held at Taj Connemara on 24th August 2022. The Special Address was by Mr. T.R.Kesavan as President of the Chamber. The Chief Guest was Mr. Siva V. Meyyanathan, Minister for Environment – Climate Change and Youth Welfare and Sport Department. Mr.S.Krishnan, IAS, Addi�onal Chief Secretary to Government, Industries Department, GoTN addressed the members of the GC and select EC Members for an hour on 27th August 2022 a�er the GC Mee�ng.

The Speaker was Dr. Jayashree Vencatesan, Managing Trustee, Care Earth Founda�on on the topic Ramsar Sites : Implica�ons for Resilience and Climate Change.

Around 50 par�cipants joined the session and the feedback was posi�ve.

MCCI CSR Certificate Course

The Chamber conducted a Cer�ficate Program on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from 2nd to 17th September 2022 only on Fridays & Saturdays at MCCI Conference Room. Various topics from introduc�on to CSR, policy and guidelines, CSR project conceptualiza�on, project budge�ng and planning, risk management, employee volunteering, company law provisions, FCRA provisions, technology and the CSR tools, design thinking workshops, panel discussions were part of the course. Leading Prac��oners and heads of the established Founda�on of Corporates handled the sessions of the course. Around 18 par�cipants from Corporates & NGO’s a�ended the Cer�ficate Course. A field visit was taken Nallur Watershed Region, Thirukkazhukundram Taluk, Chengalpa�u District, on Saturday, 17th September 2022.

Q&A Session on Companies Act 2013 & SEBI Related Matters

This Session was held virtual Dr. B. Ravi, Prac�cing Company Secretary, Managing Partner, B Ravi & Associates and Member, MCCI General Commi�e and Ms. B. Chandra, Prac�cing Company Secretary, Partner, B Chandra & Associates and Member, MCCI Company Law / Corporate Ma�ers commi�ee handled the session.

As it was a detailed Q&A, the panellists covered part of the ques�ons in the first session and the second part was covered in the second session for the benefit of the par�cipants.

Around 35 par�cipants a�ended both the sessions.

A press meet was organized to give details about the Chamber’s future plans. Mr. T. R. Kesavan took part and shared the details. There was a wide media coverage.

186th Chamber Day

Mr.V.Sriram, Writer & Historian made a presenta�on on “Know your Chamber”.

Mr.Lakshmi Narayanan, Co-Founder, Cognizant delivered his Guest of Honor address. He discussed about technology causing disrup�ons not only to Industry, but also to society. He stated that “Technology is something that is going to provide the path to prosperity to humanity”.

Around 250 members, Consulates, Bi-Na�onal Chambers, Govt. officials, Media par�cipated in the func�on.

The Chamber’s 186th Chamber Day was celebrated on 29th September 2022 at Hotel ITC Grand Chola.
