An IMAX Roofing Experience Choosing roofing material is like choosing a movie experience. There are pros and cons to each option and there will always be a slight gamble to which ever option you choose. Roofing debates between steel roofing and traditional shingles pretty much revolve around three issues: quality, cost, and appearance. The same goes for movies.
Quality First, we can consider the quality. Choosing steel roofing is like choosing to go an IMAX opening night, complete with a big squishy chair, a tub of popcorn, drink, and some sugary snacks. You lose yourself in the experience and every physical sense is satisfied by the IMAX experience. It’s big, shiny, quality, and the effects will last a long time. On the other hand, traditional shingles are like renting a RedBox and watching it on you ten-year-old TV at home. It’s convenient and cozy, and maybe you’ll even pop yourself a bag of microwave popcorn. It’s not a bad option, but clearly not nearly the elite or lasting experience it could have been.
Corrugated Steel Why choose the lesser quality? It could be the second issue - cost. A corrugated steel roof costs around three-times as much as traditional asphalt. If you go full out on IMAX experience, you’ll have to buy the twelve-dollar ticket, the eight-dollar bag of popcorn, the three-dollar drink, and the two-dollar candy bar. If you bring a date or some kids, boom. Bye-bye paycheck. The IMAX steel roofing experience is expensive, but it might just be worth it. That all depends on your priorities. Fans of durable, shiny, and environmentally friendly roofing would say, “of course steel roofing is worth it!” Movie fanatics and popcorn addicts would affirm the same about their IMAX evening out. In the end, you might pay big upfront for a long lasting steel roof, or pay later to fix holes and leaks. So think – would you rather have one grand expense, or let the rental fees build up. For those unsure of where their allegiance lies (pocketbook or experience) the choice might be a little more difficult to make.
Appearance Perhaps the third issue can help seal the deal. Appearance, shallow though it may be, can be a big, determining factor. A corrugated steel roof is nice and shiny, but it might be a little too harsh for some people’s
taste. Just like some people love the incredible sensory attack of an IMAX movie, others might appreciate a simpler, less intense home experience. The more traditional, homey appearance of an asphalt roof might be just the thing to turn a house into a home. People who grew up in a house with traditional roofing may not like coming home to what looks like a shiny, futuristic lair. But, moral of the story – no matter which you chose, you’ll still end up with a house with a functional roof on it. And that is what is important. Steel roofing may blind birds and asphalt may leak in a storm, but you’ve still got a roof over your head. Photo Credit: Farm9 , Olympianbuildings.com
