Dear Friends,

We have so much to be thankful for at Metropolitan Community College.

As we turn the page on the College’s first 50 years and look toward the future, we take this moment to appreciate the incredible impact we’ve made together. It is because of you that we’ve come so far. Thank you for your passion, dedication and for making a lasting difference.

Though we span four counties and offer more than 100 programs of study, together we are One MCC, united by a single purpose:

Providing relevant, student-centered education to a diverse community of learners.

This mission has stood the test of time. While we honor the contributions of those who came before us, we recognize each of us plays a vital role in shaping the College’s future and ensuring its success for 50 more years and beyond.

Since our inception in 1974, MCC has experienced remarkable growth and now serves nearly 30,000 students annually across credit and noncredit programs. In fact, during the 2023-24 academic year, a record 2,230 students earned their degrees — a testament to our collective commitment to student success.

The success of MCC and our students would not be possible without donors to the MCC Foundation. Since its beginning in 1977, the MCC Foundation has been instrumental in connecting community partners to meaningful initiatives that support student achievement. Through scholarships, equipment donations, alumni engagement and program support, your contributions to the MCC Foundation have made a profound impact on countless lives.

The positive impacts made possible by the MCC Foundation take many forms:

For students. In 2023-24, MCC awarded 162 different scholarships. In all, 1,294 students received a combined $1.4 million in scholarship funds. These scholarships open doors for many students who may otherwise be unable to attend college. We would not be able to award these scholarships without the MCC Foundation’s donors.

For the community. Neighborhoods and towns thrive when individuals reach their potential. The College’s Adult Basic Education program is the largest of its kind in Nebraska and offers students opportunities to increase their basic skill level, earn a General Education Diploma (GED) or increase their English language literacy. We are also proud of our 180 Re-entry Assistance Program, which helps individuals prepare for and manage transitions after incarceration. It is the nation’s largest re-entry program located on a college campus. A wide array of MCC programs like these make our region a better place for all to live.

Thank you for being a part of MCC and helping to improve the lives of our students. As we embark on our next 50 years, we are deeply grateful to have passionate supporters like you preserving the mission of MCC for generations to come.

Sincerely,
