In this weeklong course of teens, the entire filmmaking process will be compacted into one week. From development to writing and production to editing, students will create their own films, each of them rotating through different positions: writers, editors, actors, directors, cinematographers and sound engineers. The course will conclude with a screening of your final product for friends and family. This course is taught by professional comedian, writer and filmmaker, Timmy Tamisiea.

FIT KIDS: FITNESS, FUN AND FOOD (AGES 6-8)

Using thematic instruction, students will work on age-appropriate gross and fine motor skills, balance and hand-eye coordination with fun games, equipment, music and stories. After they work up a sweat, your child will learn cooking basics, including following a recipe to create healthy snacks.

KIDZ BIZ ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAMP (AGES 8-11)

Turn your passion into a real-life business this summer. Explore building a brand by creating a product, discover marketing strategies and receive expertise from different speakers. Students will have the opportunity to sell their goods at a public venue. Bring a $5 supply fee to class.

*KIDS MONEY MANAGEMENT (AGES 9-12)

Explore how money works, from personal savings to investing and why it is so important to plan ahead. In this interactive course, students will get a full introduction into financial literacy.

Plants

(AGES 6-9)

Students combine electronics, sensors and Arduino boards to build and code a plant-monitoring station that will indicate the “happiness level” of a plant. Along the way, students dive into biology and learn about plant science, as well as how each of the electronic components of the project function. Students will take home a potted plant, complete with their plant monitoring system.

In this class we will travel to Omaha’s wastewater treatment plant to tour the current facilities and learn more about our wastewater. Directly following, we will visit Spring Lake to see green infrastructure and learn about stormwater runoff.

NEW! POKÉMON MASTER LEAGUE (AGES 8-11)

This Pokémon master camp will prepare trainers to be the next Pokémon champion. Each class will introduce fundamental skills for being a competitive trainer, such as finding the rarest Pokémon, how to train them properly and how to form the best team that can sweep the competition. Students must bring their own copy of a Pokémon game and a device to play it on.

Using a circuit board, microcontroller, programmable LEDs and a speaker, students program their masterpieces into life with lights and sounds that enrich their artistic themes. Through exploratory and kinetic activities, students examine the science of light and sound, discover how electricity and circuits work and learn how echolocation can be mimicked with technology. This project supports social and emotional learning through activities that allow students to relate how sound and color affect how they feel.

*TINKRBOT-MAKE YOUR OWN ROBOT (AGES 8-10)

Students design, build and program a robot from scratch. The class begins with the assembly of kitted robots from parts provided by TinkRworks. Students also use the block-based programming environment to program the robots to accomplish challenges provided by instructors. These challenges are designed to allow students to develop logic and programming skills fundamental to all robotics.

*VIRTUAL REALITY: THE FUTURE IS NOW (AGES 8-11)

Embark on an epic adventure in virtual reality. In this cutting-edge class, learn the foundations of VR design by creating your own virtual worlds, exploring simulated environments, crafting 3D experiences and learning basic programming concepts. At the end of the week, take home your first cardboard VR headset to show friends and family the new worlds you created. VR projects can be viewed on a website or mobile device.
