NEW! Nebraska Before Statehood: The Unorganized Territory

For 51 years, the future Nebraska had no defined borders, no laws and no name other than “the Unorganized Territory.”

The few Americans who saw it were a motley assortment of fur trappers, missionaries, wagon train pioneers, artists and scientists — and most of them were traveling through on their way elsewhere. Meanwhile, Native American life was transformed through the fur trade and the beginning of the Treaty Era. Join us for a tale that starts with the return of Lewis and Clark and ends with the passage of the Kansas-Nebraska Act.
