Winter season is almost over, we hope to be back outdoors on the clay courts by April 1 st depending on weather and how the resurfacing goes. Please stay off the outdoor courts and hitting walls until the nets are up on the courts. Until April, indoor courts are open and reservations may be made online or using the new app.

There will be some USTA teams playing out of CCA this spring, if you have interest in playing for a team and competing vs other area clubs, please contact me and I will get you in touch with a captain.

TURF TALK

Greetings, from the maintenance department!

The months of January and February have been difficult to perform many repairs to the golf course with all the rain. Hopefully, Mother Nature will cooperate and provide us with more favorable weather so we can accomplish the goals we have set for the start of the year. Although we have been limited to what we can do on the course, we have been persistent with clearing wood lines around the property. Also, the staff has been preparing for the upcoming season by painting new hazard stakes, refurbishing course accessories, grinding reels, power washing and servicing equipment.

The months of March and April are transitional months. As the grass begins to actively grow we must perform our cultural practices that will allow for the course to be its best during periods of stress. We plan on fertilizing and aerating the course the second week of April, which should provide better weather for allowing the course to recover in a timely manner. Additionally, we are looking into increasing drainage to several areas around the course.

I look forward to warmer weather and more golf being played. Thank you to all that have taken time to speak with me while on the course. Once again, it is a pleasure serving as your golf course superintendent. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Warmest regards,
