Tee It Up at The Cardinal

A NOTE FROM YOUR HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL

A Year to Remember! It is hard to believe we are in the year 2022 right now. It feels like we just started 2021. I guess it’s true, time flies when you are having fun. After 7 seasons at the Cardinal, I truly feel this past one was the most exciting. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and remember some of the fun we had during the year.

We started the season with our season-opening event back on April 3. Over 90 players joined us as we opened the Cardinal season. Blaine Biggs and his son to the left( ) reminded us as to why the club experience is so special.

Masters time of year always brings out that golfer in all of us. This year was no different from the Cardinal Par 3 Tournament. Members young and old, father and son, and husband and wife enjoyed a night of golf on the links, Par 3 style.

When summer comes, that means it's time to find out who our best players are. Time for the Club Championship. Two of great weather and a perfect golf course equals great golf which equates to great champions. Not sure anyone had fun during the Men s’ Member-Member Tournament in May, but by the looks of these pictures I think a few people did! We can’t wait to see what happens in 2022.

The first-night golf event featuring Glow Vibe Golf was a hit! Even though those pesky golf balls didn’t stay lit up as long as advertised, everyone still stayed awake long enough to enjoy the lights.

Our first Ladies Invitational brought a newfound energy to an already great event. With members pairing up with members and guest foursomes coming from around the state, the Cardinal Ladies Invitational is definitely moving on up the list for must-play events. Be sure to come out next year to join the fun.

A NOTE FROM YOUR HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL

For the Men’s Invitational, we decided to try something a bit different. Each team had to play 5 9-hole matches against the other 5 teams within their flight. A little different for some, very familiar for most, and after all said and done, fun for all. Great seeing new members joining in on the competitive spirit and having a bit of unexpected fun!

The final event of the season, The Santa Scramble, saw the true spirit of the holidays and why we love our club. One hundred players joined us on a glorious day in December to play a little golf and some much need fellowship as we headed into the holiday season. We did have two teams win the tournament, however, the true winners were the boys and girls helped by the donation made by you, our members to help provide bright Christmas for some special children. ’I d also like to quickly give a huge shootout to Ross Jernigan and his team for providing us with an unbelievable golf course. He and his team have allowed us to do so much this year. I’ve heard more comments this year about the condition of the course and how much better the Cardinal is now than in the past. We can’t thank him enough for his leadership and dedication to give you the golf course you and the facility deserve. Lastly, thanks to Ross, I won’t have to answer the question, “the course is great, if only they (whomever they are) could put more sand in the bunkers. ” Thank you, Ross.

Thank you to all those who supported the Cardinal this year, to everyone who came out to the club each day, to all of our new family members who joined this year, and for allowing myself and our team to be a part of your lives during the past year. We look forward to 2022 and what it has in store. I’m sure a few new memories are right around the corner.

See you around the club real soon.

Chris Terry
