Golf Report

July and August have had their fair share of extreme weather days. We have seen drenching rain and scorching heat. All things considering, the golf course has never been in better shape. The end of August marks one year with our new greens and the feedback has been great.

We held two major championships in the last two months, The Tradition in July and our annual Club Championship in August. The Gross Champions were a father-son duo of Anthony T. and Anthony M. Fauci combined to shoot minus eleven in the two-day eclectic. Husband and wife combo of Ed and Sue Renicker scored a two-day eclectic score of 58! It was an exciting two days of golf for both champions. Our Club Championship had an exciting start and finish.

Defending Gross Club Champion, Bob Ramsey played an exceptional two days of golf and ultimately came up short trying to three-peat. He did however find himself in a playoff for the Net Title. He would end up prevailing on the sudden death playoff beat Philip Palmeri on the 18th hole. The Gross Title was a two-horse race from start to finish. Billy Belair and Mark Wright battled each other over 36-holes only to find themselves in the same position as they started, tied. Both competitors score three under par over two days and also found themselves playing extra golf to determine the winner. With a par on the 37th hole of competition, Mark Wright claimed the title of Club Champion.

Adding to his stellar play this Summer, Anthony Fauci raised the hardware to claim his first Men’s Senior Championship. He shot a two-day total of 148 (six over par) to beat Edwin Boyd by four strokes.

In the Ladies Division, Ann Edwards and Katie Brownschidle engaged in a 36-hole battle for Gross Champion.

With scores of 81 and 80, Edwards’ consistent play claimed herself a two-stroke victory over Brownschidle. Not all was lost for Brownschidle, with net scores of 76 and 77, she beat out Britni Gaddy by two strokes to win the Net Club Champion Title.
