September 25-27th –We will crown our Men’s Club Champion this weekend. Last year was a fantastic finish with Alan Stovall coming out on top. We look forward to some more good competition this year!
September 26-27th –We will also crown our Super Senior Club Champion. The last few years have also been very exciting in this competition. Don Slater took home the title last year, let’s see if he can defend his title.
October 8-10th –Our 29th Annual Men’s Member-Guest! We hope to put on will be sent out very soon in regards to the plans for this year. another good show this year. More information

October 31-November 1st –Our Treyburn Cup is this weekend. Team Rich & Team Wylie will square off for the cup! Easily the best TMGA tournament we have during the year.
September Cookie of the Month: “Pecan-Chocolate Chip Delights” By: James R. Patterson III of Sedgefield Country Club
Ingredients:
1 Cup Unsalted Butter, softened 1 Cup Granulated Sugar 1 Cup Brown Sugar, packed 1 Cup Vegetable Oil 1 Large Egg 1 TSP Baking Soda
Directions:
1 TSP Salt 1 1 3 1 ¾ TSP Vanilla ¼ Cups Quick Cooking Oats ½ Cups All-Purpose Flour ¼ Cups Lightly Crushed Corn Cup Chopped Pecans¾ Cup fla of kes Mini Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Cream butter and sugars in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Cream until light and fluffy. You can also use a hand mixer. Add oil and stir until smooth.Add egg and vanilla, mix until smooth, then stir in the salt and baking soda.Mix in oats and flour until just mixed. Stir in chocolate chips, pecans and cornflakes.Scoop 2 tablespoon balls of cookie dough onto a cookie sheet covered in wax or parchment paper. No need to spread the balls out, you’re just going to chill them. Cover with plastic wrap and chill at least one hour. (If you chill longer than 4 hours you may need to let them warm up a few minutes on the counter before baking.)Preheat oven to 350°F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or silpat baking mats. Place cookies 2” apart on prepared cookie sheets. Lightly press down with the palm of your hand. Bake for 9-1 1 minutes or until the bottoms just start to turn golden brown. Cool at least 5 minutes on cookie sheet before removing to rack to cool completely.
October 2020: “Gluten-Free Cornmeal Thumbprint Cookies” By Michael Monahan, Executive Chef at Grande Dunes Members Club
Ingredients:
1 ½ Cups All-Purpose Gluten-Free Rice Flour 1 Cup Yellow Cornmeal 1 ½ 1 TSP TSP ¾ sti Baking Powd Table Salt cks Unsalted er Butter, softened, plus more for pans
Directions:
1 TBSP Cream of Tartar 1 TBSP Vanilla Extract 5 Cups Flour 2 Cups Chopped Pecans (optional)
Preheat oven to 350° and set two racks to the middle positions, with space in between. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper (or grease lightly with butter).In a medium-size bowl, whisk together the rice flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt. Using a standing or handheld mixer, beat the butter and brown sugar in a large bowl until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat. Add the dry ingredients and beat until smooth.Portion the dough into 1 inch balls, and arrange them 2 inches apart on the baking sheets. Press each with your thumb; then fill each depression with a teaspoon of raspberry jam. Bake until just barely golden brown on the bottom, 1 0 to 1 2 minutes, rotating the pans halfway through.
JIM HERMAN WINS THIRD TITLE AT WYNDHAM; MOVES FROM 192ND TO 54TH IN FEDEXCUP POINTS
Jim Herman rallied to win the Wyndham Championship on Sunday for his Herman had two birdies and an eagle — from 59 feet — on his first five holes to catch up to Kim. Then, trailing Horschel by a stroke, Herman stuck his approach to No. 1 7 to just over 3 feet for a birdie. to reach 21 under. He gained the lead when Horschel missed a 1 2-footer for par on 1 6.

Horschel closed with a 65. He had a final chance to tie on but his 8-foot birdie putt slid left of the cup. He drove right into a hazzard of thick grass and, despite six people

As the host for many charities and donors to numerous others, McConnell Golf is excited to contribute and engage through our community engagement program Footprints on the Green. Through a strong and supportive effort made by our collective membership and staff, we strive to become a driving force in the local community where our clubs reside. Aware of the challenges our society and environment face daily, we have aligned ourselves with a variety of organizations and various methods of giving back. This program is designed with all age groups in mind so that it will be a learning tool for our youth, a team building activity for our staff, and a friendship building platform to strengthen our connection with our membership. Recently, the Country Club of Asheville raised over $2,800 for United Way School Supply Drive. Providence Country Club is also taking supporting our local schools with a supply drive sponsored by Classroom Central. Way to go team and thank you to all who contributed!
