Muffins with Mommy

other’s Day is just around the corner. So it’s time to honor mother figures and show them the appreciation they deserve. Although, it’s a little different for moms with young children, that doesn’t mean they can’t celebrate the wonderful thing that is motherhood. In honor of Mother’s Day, MCCS Libraries on Camps Courtney, Foster and Kinser will be having a special gathering for children to spend some extra quality time with the most important lady in their life. Kids will be able to listen to stories, sing songs, enjoy some yummy muffins and have a blast by making a special craft (while supplies last) for mom to treasure forever. It’s Muffins with Mommy! Muffins with Mommy will be held on May 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. and is geared towards children ages 4 to 10. While at the library, check out the plethora of programs available for all ages! They have everything from lap time and story time

for the littles to adult book club kits, craft activities and online learning programs for adults. There are also specific teen reading programs and an entire collection of graphic

novels to keep your tween-ager occupied this summer. For more information about this and other events at your local MCCS Library, visit mccsokinawa.com/libraries.

Tokyo Disneyland & DisneySea Tour

rom May 24 to May 28, join us on an unforgettable tour of Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea. The tour includes accommodations at the New Sanno Hotel, transportation to and from both theme parks and airfare. The Disneyland in Tokyo has many of the same themes as the one in the U.S., such as Toontown, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. There’s also several of the same attractions, like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and Space Mountain. However, unlike other Disneylands around the world, Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea aren’t owned by The Walt Disney Company. So, the parks are able to intertwine unique Japanese twists that set them apart from the rest. DisneySea is the only one in the world, and it’s truly a sight to behold. The park is separated into seven beautifully-themed sections, or “ports of call,” and features popular

rides, Venetian gondolas, the infamous Tower of Terror and more. May is the perfect time to get your Disney fix, because starting this month and lasting until March of next year, both theme parks will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of Tokyo Disneyland. You don’t want

to miss the “Happiest Celebration!” There will be extra-special decorations, merchandise, menus and much more. Also, the new and improved It’s a Small World will be open! For more information, contact your local Tours+ or visit mccsokinawa.com/tours.

Lifeguards Wanted

eing a lifeguard is fun. Who else can say they work by the pool? However, don’t be fooled, because it’s also a very serious job. Sure, you’ll get super tan, but you have to keep everyone safe as they enjoy the water. You might even have to save someone’s life. If this sounds like the job for you, you’re in luck! MCCS Aquatics is actively recruiting for full-time, parttime and flex lifeguard and lifeguard supervisor positions. Lifeguard candidates must be 15 years old or older and must possess current nationally recognized certifications (Lifeguard training, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer or equivalent and Standard First Aid or equivalent). Lifeguard supervisor candidates must possess the same certifications, be 18 years old or older and have a minimum of 1 year experience in aquatic recreational activities. Entry-levels can

get the certifications and training they need in the Lifeguarding Full Course (offered by MCCS Aquatics). There’s also a refresher course for those who already have the requirements, but would like to review

the knowledge and skills needed. To view class schedules and to register for them, visit mccsokinawa.com/ lifeguard. Upon receiving the appropriate certifications, you can apply online at mccsokinawa.com/jobs.
