Golf is a game that can be fun for everyone and it’s a very popular pastime both on Okinawa and throughout the rest of Japan. Service members and their families can enjoy golf on base at courses such as Taiyo Golf Club, which is reasonably priced, challenging and beautiful.

Taiyo Golf Club is located in Uruma City near the Kurashiki Dam, just minutes from Camp Courtney and only 20 minutes from Camp Foster via the Okinawa Expressway (see map on mccsokinawa.com/golf). This course has a stunning 18-hole layout that unfolds across 247 acres of rolling fairways, lush wetlands, scenic vistas, dramatic elevation changes and large, well-manicured greens with subtle breaks.

Taiyo Golf Club is a full-service facility with a challenging championship-level course, top-of-theline Pro Shop offering all the leading brands in clubs and apparel at competitive prices, PGA professional instruction, world-class certified club fitting, ES15 Range Launch Monitors and excellent restaurants offering both casual and fine dining.

What truly sets Taiyo apart, however, is the friendly and professional staff which stands ready to cater to every golfer's needs—whether it’s booking a unit event or fundraiser, becoming part of the golf club or helping beginners get into the game.

Additionally, Taiyo features a golf academy and driving range with a head professional on staff to give lessons. Taiyo Golf Club is open seven days a week, including holidays. For more information, call the Pro Shop at 622-2004/2006 (098-954-2004/2006 from off base) or visit facebook.com/taiyogc.
