NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2016
ART Home Furnishings proudly introduces COLLECTION ONE – a new casual offering of finely crafted case goods, occasional and upholstery inspired by antiques from Provincial Canada and American architecture. A collection that is classic in style, rich in scale, abundant in detail and unique in appearance. Crafted only from radiata pine, a clean and clear wood that is harvested from the northern regions of Asia. This specie is a cabinet maker’s choice that enhances the fine wood details found throughout the collection. More importantly, it showcases the variety of finishes that were developed specifically for COLLECTION ONE. Finishes that range from the soft looks of ageless antiques, rich in patina, to those full of texture and depth - all hand applied, hand rubbed and executed with care. COLLECTION ONE is also about choice. Several styles work well together through design and finish. The ability to mix or match is evident and offers the consumer variety in today’s home décor. All of COLLECTION ONE seating has been designed to complement the whole home environment. Pieces are shown with the newest fabrics, rich in tailoring and detail, and most importantly, comfortable to sit in! COLLECTION ONE - one world of opportunity

1. PICK A THEME
There are many themes to choose from rustic, formal, clean and modern. This may change seasonally or it might depend on what type of dinner party you are hosting. You want to choose items that work together, especially because they will be sharing the same surface. Color is the perfect element to build off of. Showcase your chosen colors through textiles such as the napkins and your table cloth, your floral arrangements and or your choice of centerpiece.
2. TABLE RUNNERS, TABLE CLOTH OR PLACEMATS
Runner size should be the total length of the table plus 6" per side to hang down or you can use a shorter runner approx. 1/3 of the table to better showcase a centerpiece. A table cloth is typically a more formal look and it’s important to have at least 6" of over hang on all sides. Placemats can add texture, pattern and or color to your setting. Depending on the material you can play it up or play it down.
3. NAPKIN DISPLAY OPTIONS
Keep it classy with the use of a napkin ring, or you can fold the napkin into a rectangle and layer it centered between the large and small plates. The holidays are a time to have some fun, be creative! For a quick diy project, you can use a ribbon to tie around the napkin. For a more rustic look add some greenery to wrap on top like a flower, or herbs. If you’re more concerned about presentation, a little wrapped present adds a cute touch.
6. LIGHTING
There is something about the flickering of a candle that sets the ambience. Hurricanes and votives come in every shape, size and color imaginable so odds are you will find something that goes with your tablescape. If you’re worried about the wax melting, consider battery operated candles as they work just as well and there’s no need to be concerned if they are left burning. Whether you like a lot of candles or just a few, they can definitely bring that extra detail to your setting. Other ways to add ambience without candles, is using reflective surfaces in your décor like mirrored trays, chargers and napkin rings. If your chandelier is on a dimmer, odds are you’ve never had a reason to play around with it. Try different light settings with your dimmer switch and see if you find one that creates ambience while still letting your guests see what’s going on in the room.
7. CENTREPIECES
They are the center of attention for a reason, they are what brings everything together and usually the inspiration of your theme. It’s important however to be aware of the height of your centerpiece. You don’t want people sitting across from each other to have to look around them to speak to each other. You want the size of the centerpiece whether it be floral, food, or accessories to be a maximum width of 6” and max height of 10”.
8. HOW TO PLACE YOUR DINNERWARE
Someone brilliant designed this template so easy that everyone can use and look like a pro. Guaranteed to impress your guests.

You can layer your tablescape by using your table linens, plates and or centerpieces. You create interest by creating different heights and showcasing different pieces. If everything was all the same height the table would feel lost.

They not only look beautiful but they smell great too. Keep your theme in mind when choosing the floral. Roses bring a touch of elegance but there are also more casual, fun choices like sunflowers. Placing the flowers on a reflective tray can really give it a finished look.

NEW AND EXCITING Trends in Home Fashions The High Point furniture market is held in High Point North Carolina and measures over 10 million square feet encompassing approximately 180 buildings. Retailers, commission sales people, designers, manufacturers and many others involved in the furniture and home design industry come to market. It is THE trade show to be at for up and coming furniture designs, color trends, latest accessories, innovative lighting ideas and networking networking networking! It is a great atmosphere for sharing ideas with other individuals from all over the world who also share a passion for all things furniture, design and home! Here are 7 exciting home fashion trends we are looking forward to seeing at High Point this October.
1: The use of Acrylic
5: A Touch of Asian
This gives a clean modern look. Acrylic is being used on everything! it can add an "airy" feel to any room and is great to use in small spaces because of its translucent qualities. It has the look of glass but is half the weight and more durable.
Traditional Chinoiserie paired with a subtle contemporary look, was evident in many different elements at market. It's like transferring a pieces of art onto the furnishings. The detail is stunning and imagery tells a story. This painted silver cabinet was a favorite. Hidden inside was an unexpected rich cobalt blue, very unique and modern.
2: Geometric Shapes Geometric shapes are being seen everywhere from wallpaper to flooring and everything in between. They definitely create visual interest to your interiors. The hand carved details used in wood furniture are amazing. They take a clean lined furniture piece and transforms it into a modern work of art. Geometrics can be dominating so be careful when selecting how many pieces you use in room.
3: Greek Key Design History returns in a big way with the classy Greek pattern from the 20th century. The design is often used in accents such as pillows, borders, dishes and furniture. We really loved the Greek key design Bernhardt included in their Soho Luxe collection. It presents well in small and large scale and It was refreshing to see it used in chrome.
6: Tufting Everywhere! Tufting details have been used for many years in furniture design but mostly used on the inside backs of chairs and sofas. The newest revision has manufacturers adding the diamond tuft to the outside backs of sofas and chairs. It adds visual interest especially if you are floating the sofas in a room.
7: Gold Trim Gold accents are a lovely compliment to wood, upholstery, stone, and acrylic. It’s a nice subtle contrast that adds interest. We love the architectural of the z design of the chair and in the gold it really makes a statement.
4: Rose/Blush Color Pallet The soft pastels and blush tones look so lustrous when paired with warm gold accents. This color trend brings a sophisticated and feminine touch to any living space.
