I
have a problem whenever I watch Say Yes to the Dress. Now, I’m not an avid fan of reality TV shows for a reason. Mostly, because I watch the drama (looking at you, Kardashians) and criticize every aspect of it, deconstructing the manufactured catfights in my head with the cynicism of a movie critic. All the drama is hyped up and fake and I recognize that. And yet, whenever I watch Say Yes to the Dress, my guilty pleasure, I get angry. I know it’s not real. My cat probably knows it’s not real. But what gets me so riled up is the parents, the siblings, the grandparents, who sit there and tell the bride what to wear.
Often, these critics of the bride-to-be’s choices are unsupportive, telling her to wear what they want to see her wear. Rarely do those people stop and consider that hey, it’s not their wedding. And to me, that’s an issue. See, my personal philosophy in life is that you should live life for yourself. Life is meant to be enjoyed. It’s supposed to be what you make of it, and not what anyone else tells you what to make of it. Wikipedia is a multilingual, web-based, freecontent encyclopedia project. | wikipedia.com

“Don't you ever get the feeling that all your life is going by and you're not taking advantage of it? Do you realize you've lived nearly half the time you have to live already?”

Whenever I see those brides being blatantly told to wear what someone else loves, not what they love, it makes me think of my philosophy. What’s important to me in life is having fun, living every moment to its fullest, living the life that I want to live. I would never want anyone else telling me how to live my life. Honestly, I don’t think anyone should have the right to dictate another person’s life. After all, you’re the one living it, right? So why should anyone else dictate it? They aren’t the ones experiencing that life. I think what my philosophy boils down to is life is what you make of it. So live it up, and don’t let anyone else tell you how to live it.
CAMRYN'S TIPS FOR ASPIRING HIGH SCHOOLERS The departing wisdom of a graduation senior.
BE ADVENTUROUS High school is time to figure out you are, explore your interests. Don't play it safe just to graduate. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.”
DEFINE YOURSELF People will try to tell you who are all your life. High school is an especially maleable time for anyone. So before anyone has a chance, define yourself. Find yourself.
HAVE FUN This can not be emphasized enough. High School will blur past you. You will realize too late and too fast that time is in constant motion, lightyears ahead of you. It's truly a skill to learn how to take life one day at a time - so try mastering that. But for those wo cannot, master the art of fun. You only have one life. Live it up.

deadline environment means that copy editing often takes the form of deleting everything past an arbitrary point in the story corresponding to the dictates of available space on a page.
A news article can include accounts of eyewitnesses to the happening event. It can contain photographs, accounts, statistics, graphs, recollections, interviews, polls, debates on the topic, etc.
Therefore, newspaper reporters are trained to write in inverted pyramid style, with all the most important information in the first paragraph or two. If the less vital details are pushed towards the end of the story, then the potentially destructive impact of draconian copy editing will be minimized.
Headlines can be used to focus the reader’s attention on a particular (or main) part of the article. MISTAKES
I always regret the chances I didn’t take rather than the ones I did. I didn’t take those chances because I was scared - scared of failing. Scared of making a mistake. You have to learn that making mistakes is okay - it’s non-negotiable. It’s a life skill. You will never make it through life imposing on yourself the ideas of perfection, of constant achievement. You will fail. And that’s okay. Who ever wanted to read the story about the kid who made it on the first try? You will grow more from your mistakes than you ever will your successes. Actually, sometimes, mistakes might just drag you down. That’s okay, too, because that teaches you how to recover from making a mistake.

What in life really matters?
Written by Li, XianZhi
ENO REBMUN EGAP
SURVIVE
Food is life. The challenges I accepted for myself stepping out of my comfort zone. The pain I experienced after I opened my heart to uncertainty. The pleasure of sharing ideas with people. Those choices made me who I am today. My brain’s functionality really matters in life. Surviving near death experience is also very important. For example, skydiving, in ten seconds, I will be dropping around 98 meters per seconds. Within a minute, the speed will be increased to 600 meters per seconds. If I had the determination to throw myself out of an airplane, what will I be afraid of on earth? Embrace the feeling of vulnerability. Life is difficult. Life is to be lived, not controlled. You were never in control anyway. What in life really really matters was said in the first sentence.
EGAP REBMUN

Secured futures do NOT exist. Staying in your comfort zone, expecting plans to work is not living. People don’t appreciate as much as something they get for free compared to something they worked hard and earned it. It is a scientifically proven theory, psychological pattern the human race share, that the joy of achieving a goal is correlated to the amount of effort you put into the project. Procrastinators are being honest when they say they don't care about the result of their crappy project, they are not attached to them, as the idea of secured futures to me.
I am not talking about being irresponsible. I want to be dedicated to my career, achieve some awesome projects, and even change the world to be a better place. I see life as fire, my passion is the fuel, instead of my desire for the final results. I am young, of course I see life is all about passion, beauty, and dreams. Will I think differently someday in the future? Probably. And I also know that I would't ever regret my decisions.
What do you want?
Relationships? YOUR GUIDE TO SURVIVE.
1 Relationships are worthy when two minds are communicating. I have a few friends who truly understand me, and it fulfills my desire for relationships. I am always open to meet new friends, especially when we are passionate about similar subjects with mutual respect and understanding.
2
Solitude is a good thing. What are you doing when you are neither listening nor talking? You are thinking. Loneliness is also a part of life, I don’t think it is a bad thing. Solitude vivifies; isolation kills.
3 Romantic relationships are complicated, but it is as important as any other kinds of relationship. About this topic, I'd rather to keep quite. One, for respecting every relationship's uniqueness. Two, I have always failed to manage romantic relationships myself. So, guess all I can say is, you are not alone.
I love her and that's the beginning and end of everything. -- F. Scott Fitzgerald
Expectations are not real Do you wish to have a good time in high school? Be safe and be yourself? The most important realization came to me during the four years I spent in MCHS was that “In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing". (by Theodore Roosevelt) When people tell you that powerful silence is the better thing to do, you tell them to shut up. Staying quiet is not the solution, at least not in high school. I wasn’t popular, nor bullied. I was kind of disappointed that I never had the chance to defend myself. Expectations is similar to planning in my opinion, always magically
rained upon no good reasons at all. It's not that I am afraid of disappointment, or being negative about hope. I indeed, enjoy surprises. I cannot live a life with knowing the ending of it. Al It's like cooking with a well-known recipe, presume the perfect dish comes out as you expected. It is what you wanted, and you are the one who made it happen. But the dish is truly robotic, the executor's job is to perform the task, in order to have the perfect dish at the end, the uncertainty carried by the executor, in this case, you, have to be minimized. What is the purpose of your existence if all you do is to fulfill other people's expectations? Expectations from your family, the society. They gave it a pretty name, called it responsibilities. They made us to feel different if we choose a different lifestyle. They labeled
happiness with successful and rich, but the truth is you can immerse yourself in the great beauty of nature, and feel unconditionally happy. There is no price for happiness, because it suppose to be “free!
I was not much afraid of punishment, I was only afraid of disgrace. But that I feared more than death, more than crime, more than anything in the world. I should have rejoiced if the earth had swallowed me up and stifled me in the abyss. But my invincible sense of shame prevailed over everything . It was my shame that made me impudent, and the more wickedly I behaved the bolder my fear of confession made me. I saw nothing but the horror of being found out, of being publicly proclaimed, to my face, as a thief, as a liar, and slanderer.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Confession
Mistakes are not always beneficial, but you cannot refuse the fact that some of them are. When you feel bad about your feebleminded decisions, just keep telling yourself that you are a human being. It’s fine, give it another try. And you probably will fail again. Oh, no, you say, what if I made a well-thoughthowever-still-wrong mistake when it’s about life/death? Let’s see, you probably will live with it if you survived. If not, try not to cry like Chris McCandless did. Kiss this world goodbye. Oh, wait, this is a “survival guide”. Sorry, what a mistake. It’s okay to make mistakes, your life is not surrounded by perfectly rational people. Right the wrongs and move on. Fix it, confess it, ask for forgiveness from god, promise never make it again, find yourself excuses, lie and cover it, there are plenty of options. Choose whatever that fits your mood.
You make mistakes doesn’t mean you are a sinner. You are being yourself and discovering what’s life really about. High school is real life, even if many people doesn’t agree with it. A high school diploma took four years of your life away from you. So, even if it is the easiest diploma you are ever going to achieve, be proud when you get it. It is the only diploma you can get with pure common sense, and it is also the diploma that opens your educational doors, allow you to pursue your dreams.

What is most important in life?
Having friends that you can genuinely find yourself comfortable with sets the stage for being happy in all aspects because if you are having any problems, you would have people that can help you relieve that burden. Being trustworthy makes it easier for others to seek help in you, and that cycle will lead to the general well being of both or all parties. With the ease of mind that in theory there will always be someone to be willing to help in times of trouble, it leads to the want to give back and be as good of a person as those around you. That provides a sense of security and safety, which would in turn increase confidence and make it harder to be brought down by hardships.
“Gentle reader, may you never feel what I then felt! May your eyes never shed such stormy, scalding, heart-wrung tears as poured from mine. May you never appeal to Heaven in prayers so hopeless and so agised as in that hour left my lips: for never may you, like me, dread to be the instrument of evil to what you wholly love. -Jane Eyre
How important is a secure future?
A secure future, to me, is definitely something to try to work forward to, but in the words of Ernest Hemingway, “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.. Plans will almost inevitably change, and it is important to recognize that that is never the end of the world. If one door closes, another one opens, and there will always be alternate opportunities. Depending on the career you plan to partake and where you hope your life to take to, leniency is almost required in order to be satisfied with the end results. I have a plan for how my life is "supposed" to go but I also acknowledge that anything can happen, and the only way to remain happy after plans fall apart or change is to understand that whatever happens is supposed to happen, and the best thing to do about it is to adapt to where life wants to take you.
Dreams

When I was a kid I’d dreamed to be a movie star Spending the cash and having all these fancy cars I used to dream that one day I’d own a limousine Having chat shows with Oprah and going places that I’d never been But now I’m older and witnessed all these tragedies Forget Hollywood man it’s all about finding peace I want to be a politician and fight for what I believe Peace and love and real democracy There’s a reason why lives are always being born There’s a reason why God made Night and Dawn And there’s a reason why some rise and some fall Because some grab life by the tale, and some grab it by the horns.
Relationships
Platonic relationships are the core of discovering who you are and who you want to be. Having genuine friends by your side makes any challenge exponentially easier, and it is always better to have a few great friends than a bunch of semifriends, despite what every “popular girl” protagonist in reality TV wants you to think. There will always be times when you’d just rather be alone, and is perfectly okay, Romantic relationships are tempting, especially when they are all around you, and it is easy to get swept up into the picture-perfect idea of a high school sweetheart. Not to burst any bubbles, but most of the time, high-school relationships do not get very far at all, especially with underclassmen. There are ups and downs in every relationship, and that sometimes can be more than you can handle if you’ve never experienced anything like that before. The whole idea of dating can be pretty daunting and overwhelming at first, but it isn’t something to be afraid of. Romantic relationships tend to be a staple piece of the high-school experience, and you will definitely learn a lot about yourself along the way, but if that just isn’t your scene, then go right ahead and find your fun elsewhere.
Young love is a flame; very pretty, often very hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. The love of the older and disciplined heart is as coals, deep-burning, unquenchable. -Henry Ward Beecher
Expectations Expectations are certainly something that cannot easily be avoided, and can get the better of anyone that does not realize that they are not the confining walls of a jail cell, but the guiding hands of safety and concern. I firmly believe that it is never supposed to be about being the best, as long as you are being your best. You will probably learn fairly quickly that making mistakes is inevitable and sometimes the easiest way to correct your faults is to accept that even if you are unable to meet the expectations of others, you will always be alright as long as you are meeting your own.
Mistakes
Everyone makes mistakes, and the only way to avoid making mistakes would be to never leave your room. If you let your mistakes define you, then you will be stuck playing a neverending game of catchup trying to fix your workload and selfesteem alike. There will never be a point in time where everything will work out seamlessly, and it's going to be one of your biggest milestones to realize and understand that that is not the end of the world. With everything moving so fast around you, it's simple to let the little things fall to the sidelines, and there comes a point that it needs to be acceptable to understand that you tried your best.

Highschool Survival guide By: Jake Mayberry
FAMILY The thing that matters most to me is family.I don't just mean blood relative family either, I mean like good friends to. Why family, I say family because without my family I would not of acheived the things I have done. My parents and friends have pushed me to do great things in life, even if I didn't want to do it they strived me to do things that have made my life significantly better. I see people everyday that do not have a good family or any close friends, and those people are usually the trouble makers or have no worth in their life. Even if a person does not have the greatest family good friends can make a world's difference of if they keep themselves out of trouble or just bad habits. In my opinion if you have no one to call family, then you have nothing at all.
Secure Future ¨A secure future is not a bad thing to have but it can stop you from doing fun and adventures things with your life.Having a secure future make sure that you have a roof over your head and can choose a job to your standards and makes sure you are in a stable place in your life. A secure life also means you are missing out on so much of your life and you will have a lot of should of, would of, could of's. A non secure future holds a lot of spontaneous adventures and random surprises and it lets you live your life how u want to. The thing wrong with not securing your future is that life and go from fun tgo super stressful and not knowing what to do next and that can be a real harm on a person.
The RavenRelated Poem Content Details BY EDGAR ALLAN POE Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore— While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. “’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door— Only this and nothing more.”
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December; And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor. Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Lenore— For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore— Nameless here for evermore.
And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each purple curtain Thrilled me—filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before; So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating “’Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door— Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door;— This it is and nothing more.”
Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer, “Sir,” said I, “or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore; But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping, And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door, That I scarce was sure I heard you”—here I opened wide the door;— Darkness there and nothing more.

BEAUTY IS ONLY WHAT ONE IMAGINES
When in high school your expectations should be based on what you want to do after your highschool career. You will persuade your self to do better in school and in other activities you do. Do not live ndown to other people expectations of you either.
MISTAKES THAT YOU MAKE WILL ALWAYS REFLECT ON YOU AND NO OTHERS. I HAVE MADE MANY MISTAKES IN LIFE BUT THOSE MISTAKES MADE ME THE PERSON I AM TODAY AND YES OFCOURSE I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE SOME OF THOSE MISTAKES BACK BUT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON AND THAT MISTAKE YOU MADE IS GONN

I think that there are a lot of things that are also very important but the reason I chose happiness is because if you aren't happy than nothing you do in life really matters. Even if you never do anything to change the world I believe that living a happy life with the people that you love matters and will contribute to your community. I think that happy people are able to not only live better lives but
also they work more efficiently and think clearly that those who are unhappy with their lives. People who are happy tend to be more reliable to family and friends and a lot more giving and selfless. These are all great qualities that I want In a 2003 study scientists to implement in my daily found that the happiest life and the only way that I participants had 25 can do that is if i'm happy. percent lower levels of the I know that there will be stress hormone cortisol times where life won't than the least happy always make me happy but the best I can do as the happy person that I want to be is to work past those struggles so that I can live a life of comfort for myself and my family.

Relationships "Some think love can be measured by the amount of butterflies in their tummy. Others think love can be measured in bunches of flowers, or by using the words 'for ever.' But love can only truly be measured by actions. It can be a small thing, such as peeling an orange for a person you love because you know they don't like doing it." -Marian Keyes
Relationships
To me personally relationships with the people that matter are important. Something that i’ve learned through my experiences in high school is that it's great to have friends but it's not worth trying to be friends with someone to if they aren't trying to be your friend as well. Make relationships with the people that will stay by your side and help you through situations that you may need some friendly advice on. Another thing that I have learned about relationships is having friends that motivate you to do better or push you to finish your homework even if it means that they have to stay after school to help you get it done are your best friends. When it come to love i’ve learned that the best relationship comes when you're ready. Don't rush into anything just because it feel right because you might regret it later. Overall I believe that if any relationship that someone could have I would hope that they surround themselves with people that support and love them. Having meaningful and engaging relationships with others that make you a better person is a very important
Expectations I feel that I have a lot of things expected of me from both my academic social and family life. The expectations I feel in my academic life are partly from myself but I feel those expectations also from my parents and my teachers. I try to fulfill those expectations but I feel that my attempts are not always successful.
I put a lot of pressure on myself to reach the expectations so that I can be a good friend, student, daughter and sister for everyone in my life. Although I feel the pressure of expectations I think that I have really high expectations for myself as well and I even though I try to reach the expectations that I set for myself the expectations of others will always be more important to me. I try to not let my failures to reach others expectations put me down but I have also learned to accept that I try to please those that set those expectations.
Mistakes I've made my share of mistakes along the way, but if I have changed even one life for the better, I haven't lived in vain. Muhammed Ali We all make mistakes. This is something that we hear all the time but for a very predictable statement mistakes tend to be very unpredictable. We never really know when they’re about to happen or when we make them but we almost always learn from them. In high school and life in general there is plenty of room for mistakes and the best we can do i'd know when we have made one and learn from it because once we accept the mistake as an experience we regret the decision that we made less. I feel that this is a very powerful action to take as mistake can take a toll on any young adult because high school is hard enough already, being afraid of making mistakes just makes it harder. Sometime what seems like a mistake might not always be one if we learn something valuable from it.

WHAT MATTERS IN LIFE TO ME IS FAMILY. WHY BECAUSE THEY LOVE ME AND HAVE MY BACK AND WILL DO ANYTHING FOR ME. ALSO FRIENDS THEY GIVE ME SOMEONE TO TALK TO AND TO HANG OUT WITH MAKE JOKES AND HAVE SOME FUN THE BEST PEOPLE IN LIFE ARE YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. BUT WHAT REALLY KEEPS ME SANE AND IS WHAT MATTERS A LOT IN MY LIFE IS ANIMALS. I WISH ANIMALS WERE TREATED BETTER AND GIVEN THE BEST QUALITY OF LIFE BEFORE THEY ARE PROCESSED AND GIVEN TO THE PUBLIC AND WERE NOT TREATED WITH ANTIBIOTICS. SO IN THE FUTURE WHEN ANTIBIOTICS DON'T WORK ON US NO MORE THAT WE DON'T HAVE AN EPIDEMIC OF THE BACTERIA KIND AND LOTS OF PEOPLE DIE AND CANNOT BE TREATED BECAUSE ANTIBIOTICS WON'T WORK. IT IS IMPORTANT TO SECURE YOUR FUTURE, GO TO COLLEGE, GET A JOB AND SAVE MONEY. BUT FOR SOME PEOPLE IT IS VERY DAMAGING TO THEIR ADVENTUROUS SPIRIT. THEY DON'T WANT TO FOLLOW A PATH, THEY WANT TO BRUSH A NEW PATH. BUT IN MY OWN PERSONAL LIFE I WANT TO SECURE MY OWN FUTURE. I AM GOING TO COLLEGE AND GET MY ASSOCIATES DEGREE WHICH IS ONLY TWO YEARS, UNLESS I DO REALLY GOOD IN COLLEGE. THEN I WILL TRANSFER TO A 4 YEAR UNIVERSITY. I AM GOING TO MERCED COLLEGE. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM MAJORING IN, BUT I WILL FIGURE IT OUT WHEN I START MY CLASSES. What most matters in life is money because without money you can’t go to work, get a car to go to the store to buy clothes, food, pay the rent, pay school stuff and with money you can get your own business to make more money if you don’t have money you are no one and with money you can invest in the bank buy time that money will be double. And with money you can buy a house put money in the house then the value of the house will go up and it will be worth more then that you paid for it.

How important are relationships?
If you have friends that work in a bank and you need to borrow money to start a business or buy a house or something and if you have bad credit they might help you get a loan of money
Is it better to have a bunch of friends or just a few who truly understand you? It doesn't matter how many friends you have the real friends are how got your back if you are in trouble and true friends help you.
Is solitude a good thing? no because you won't know when homework is due and you won’t know what is going on and yes because sometimes you want to be alone
romantic relationships? I don’t know
How important are they in high school? To have someone to talk and go to the dances but sometimes is not a good idea because because you two might break up
Do not drink and drive

LOVE LIFE TO DO SO, YOU MUST FOCUS ON WHAT BRINGS YOU HAPPINESS. ABSENT OF JUDGEMENT
By Eliza Amstutz
The greatest necessity in life to any human being, is happiness. Your ultimate feeling of contentment comes from a sense of belonging. Humans do not naturally feel happy unless they are part of a group, rather than isolated. This is an instinctual fact. Therefore, happiness spreads from the relationships we build with others. Relationships are powerful. Yes, people make their own opportunities, but it truly is the the connections we make and decide to maintain that project us into life. An academic counselor at Penn State, after processing my overabundance of interests, advised me, ¨Whatever classes you choose to major in, it will be the internships, extra activities, and relationships you make that will determine your future success¨. So what matters the most in life to me? Relationships. The connections you build with the natural world, the friendships you make among family and friends, and the relationship you have with your own self. While I have big dreams and goals for academic success, building strong and meaningful connections rises above all else. It is truly the character you build in relation to others that will determine where you decide to go. It is ultimately up to you to decide which N O M Aopportunities D I C | 2 4to act on. But take a leap! Try Something New!

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN POEM BY ROBERT FROST
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

HOW TO MANAGE YOUR
RELATIONSHIPS By Eliza Amstutz Photographs by Pat Santos If you're not in a relationship and are feeling down on yourself about being single, please don't waste your time doing that. It will happen at the right time. Enjoy
I strongly suggest making lots of connections your freshman year. Naturally, as you transition through grades, your friend group will become more select, but if you want to be friends with the people who best coincide with you, please, do not let your judgement stop you; you never know who you might meet or the relationships you will build from random circumstances.
being you and this kind of confidence is truly the most attractive thing.
Try new activities, that will create new relationships guaranteed. I came to high school a shy, insecure kid who was scared to talk to those I didn’t know. I spent each day at school worrying what everyone thought about me and how to become “cooler” instead of embracing myself as I tried new things.
Listen. Listening to others shows that you care and does more good for you than you know. Keep eye contact and stay engaged in a conversation and you will receive that attention back. In any kind of relationship, paying attention and letting the other person know how much you care about them is so key. Do little things for your friend, boyfriend, or girlfriend; bring a flower, sneak them a little note to make sure they know they’re on your mind, or buy them their favorite treat. Anything to make N O M A D I C them smile.

THE FUTURE IS YOURS TO DECIDE HOW IMPORTANT IS A SECURE FUTURE?
Many of us are lucky enough to grow up with a secure future; supportive parents, enough money, a home, receiving an education, enough food to eat, but so many children, even in this county, do not grow up with this luxury. I am someone who grew up with all the above, not in excess, but with plenty to get by. So I worried little about my well being, for I have always had that cushion of support to fall back on should my dreams and attempts fail. This kind of security has pushed me to try new things, but that does not mean one can not do what they want in life because they do not have this kind of reassurance.
With the availability of education in our country, anyone has a chance to build their own life, so your opportunities in High School are really up to you to grasp and what you make of them. In addition, many people go into college, or High School even, certain of what they want to do with their future. But trust me, as a freshman, it is 100% okay to be unsure of where you want to go. For me, High School really directed me to the right people and community. I now know somewhat what I want to do, but as a freshman going into college, I still am not even close to 100% sure! There is so much ahead of you and who knows which path you will take!

INTERVIEW
HANDLING EXPECTATIONS EXPECTATIONS
Go into high school with an open mind. On the first day of my freshman year, I had no idea what to expect. All I knew was that I wanted a new beginning; to depart from the shy, scared person I had been in middle school. Right off the bat, I started volleyball and played on the freshman team. This ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Yes, I had to challenge myself, step far outside my comfort zone and play a sport I never had before with girls I hardly knew. But at the end of the season, I had made some of my closest high school friends. That winter, I heard about FFA and decided to make another spontaneous decision to be on the Parliamentary Procedure Debate Team. Well, I can tell you that was something I had not remotely experienced in my life and never would have foreseen. But I took a gamble at two things I knew very little about and both ended up changing my life for the better and teaching me not only the associated skills, but different attitudes toward life.
What I hope to show you with this, is that many opportunities will present themselves to you in High School, and you should most definitely try some of them. Most activities I’ve joined in High School, I’ve loved , however, you do need to know when to eliminate an activity or commitment when you become too busy and overwhelmed. This kind of overcommitment definitely submerged, and I’ve gone through stress and sleep deprivation because of it. So, do whatever you have to do to maintain your own personal balance. You will figure it out, it just takes time, but getting involved where your interests take you is the first step to happiness and success in high school. You may not like whatever you choose to try, but you can always try something else and it’s normal to fail once in awhile! And honestly, never feel afraid to ask an upperclassman for advice or even an silly, general question...we love to help! So don’t expect too much, and if so, expect positively, so you may go into High School with good intentions and an open mind.

MISTAKES I HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE... The Arts MCHS has an incredible Arts department - Drama, Art, Ceramics, Chorus, Band, Dance Club - and I regret not being a part of this department during high school. Therefore, even if you are an athlete, taking all Possible AP classes, extremely involved in the community, or it just doesn’t seem like your thing, I highly encourage you to try. The Arts teach you an array of skills you can find nowhere else and you will become a more well-rounded person.
Don’t cram the night before, that doesn’t work and you need sleep.. Instead, I suggest getting flashcards or terms and studying a little bit every night for the whole year, or if not, semester. I know it’s difficult to be this organized and committed, but I really wish I had been and it will pay off, especially if your teacher left you ill prepared. Good luck!
Find some outlet for your stress Sometimes, I know I get so stressed out that I get swirled into this whirlpool, where I can no longer get anything done and I continually get frustrated at myself Quoted references can also be helpful. A MAJOR GAME CHANGER... Because I am going to a college where I want to go, have achieved good grades throughout high school, and remain happy, I don’t think I would have done high school much differently if I had to repeat it. However, there are a number of things I would have done differently. Get enough sleep. For me, with four AP classes senior year, applying to college, senior projects, homework, and so much more, I really struggled to get everything done. In addition, I am a slow worker and am easily distractible. I also struggle from a little thing I call FOMO - Fear Of Missing Out - as I want to be a part of everything going on and am particularly bad at saying “no”. With so many things going on, it was incredibly difficult to focus, and sometimes I ended up doing a mediocre job at several things rather than a great job at one thing. Sometimes I would get 3 hours of sleep, three nights in a row, and there were many nights of a mere 2 hours. In case you didn’t realize, that is extremely unhealthy and leads to brain damage, as well as limited performance at school and sports. There were many days where I was having to pinch myself trying to stay awake, I would constantly nod off in the middle of class, missing a key portion of the lesson. This leads to efficiency and procrastination. I wish I had tried to be more efficient in order to counter procrastination and therefore sleep deprivation. Try to get your homework done before you reward yourself and you’ll find not having anymore homework is by far the best award.

TAKING OVER THE HIGH SCHOOL WHAT IN LIFE MATTERS THE MOST TO YOU? THIS IS SUCH A DEEP PHILOSOPHICAL QUESTION WITH AN ABUNDANT OF RESPONSES. YES THE MORE TRADITION RESPONSES LIKE FAMILY, FRIENDS, RELIGION, OR MATERIAL ITEMS. BUT FOR ME THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE THAT TRULY MATTERS IS MY FAMILY AND MY BELIEF IN GOD. MY FAMILY IS ALWAYS WITH ME THROUGH ALL THE UPS AND ESPECIALLY THROUGH ALL THE DOWNS THAT COME ALONG WITH THIS CRAZY THING CALLED LIFE. FRIENDS COME AND GO, BUT FAMILY IS ETERNAL. MY BELIEF IN GOD GIVES ME A REASON TO LIVE LIFE. WITHOUT ME PUTTING MY FAITH IN A HIGHER POWER MY LIFE WOULD BE WORTHLESS. IT WOULD NOT HAVE ANY MEANING. BUT BECAUSE I KNOW THERE IS SOMETHING MORE WHEN I DIE AND I KNOW THAT MAKING RIGHT DECISIONS IN LIFE DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE, I HAVE A PEACE OF MIND THAT IS BEYOND AMAZING. THAT IS WHAT MATTERS MOST.

SECURE YOUR FUTURE You're new to this campus and right now this moment, freshman year, seems like the biggest you can imagine. But as years go by I can guarantee that it'll simply be a miniscule moment in what seems now entirely larger and more complex. You will do things that you are bound to look back on and cringe. But my advice to you is this, the moments that feel like they are the end of the world, are not. Don't dwell on the little problems and the little bumps on the road that you encounter throughout your four years here. But don't take all those good moments for granted either. High school is a time that should be a learning experience and a time for you to find the person you want to be. You're going to make mistakes and let people down but the important thing is that you learn and adapt throughout the mistakes. The future is yours and the sky's the limit so don't let anyone hold you back.

RELATIONSHIPS
R
elationships in high school are, in most people's opinion, dumb and a waste of time. But you are going to date and like or love whoever you want in high school. We all do. Just be sure to make sure that your family relationships come above every other relationship ever. It should come before your boyfriend/girlfriend or your friends. Family is forever. They stick by you through the best of times and the worst of times. So feel free to live out your high school career however your heart wants. But the family bond will forever be the strongest bond you will ever come across throughout your life.

EXPECTATIONS
Expectations, we all have them and we all suffer the ratifications that come along with them. As you enter high school, the media has made it so that you have this idea in your head of how everything is supposed to be but let me help you out by saying that all those expectations should simply be ignored completely. Forget about all the things you think high school should be like. Make it how you want instead. High expectations will just make it so that you, as a result, will get upset and disappointed with the reality. So instead of feeling bad and wondering why it´s not like High School Musical, just go out there and put your energy into making how you want! Do something great. Excel at all your classes, make friends, try out for the sports teams no matter how good you are at them. By all means I do not mean for you to have low expectations, but rather just be realistic and make the most of your four years here and remember, it is only four years of your life. Seems like an eternity right now but it will fly by, I assure you.

At the end of the day, what really matters in life is not that much. If you laughed more than you cried, smiled more than you frowned, loved more than you hated, saved more than you destroyed, solved more problems than you caused, told more truth than you lied, caused more tears of joy than tears of sorrow, let your loved ones how much you value them and had a pretty damn good time doing what you love to do, then i think we can all agree that it was a good day. When we're incomplete, we're always searching for somebody to complete us. When, after a few years or a few months of a relationship, we find that we're still unfulfilled, we blame our partners and take up with somebody more promising. This can go on and on until we admit that while a partner can add happiness to our lives, each of us, are responsible for our own fulfillment. Nobody else can provide it for us, and to believe otherwise is to dangerously ignore our feelings and emotions and to program ourselves for eventual failure every relationship we enter. NOMADIC

Mistakes are something we all make and I am no exception to that rule. (Not that I’d say that to you in person) Yes, we’d all like to say that we’re perfect and that we could do no wrong but I know firsthand how badly that mentality could go for you. Solely due to my own stubbornness I came within a hair's width of failing my freshman year. And even after doing that I was sure that I had done no wrong and that I should have had passed with flying colors despite the fact that I had probably done less than 40% of the total work that year. And that process continued through my mind for the next 2 years of my schooling, but I wouldn’t even say I was out of that mentality this year. But thanks to a
small amount of growth on my part, and me receiving my first job, it was easy for me to realize, this kind of thought doesn’t work in the real world and that my mistakes are on no fault of anyone other than me, and that people who place all the blame on others will make it nowhere in the real world. And I’m glad I’ve realized, because I feel it makes me a better person.
FRIENDSHIPS BY ALEX SWIECKI
What matters most in life to me is friendship. Having someone there to help you through any situation you might get into is an invaluable resource. Not only that, but you get someone to confide in, someone you can trust in full. Having someone to always be there for you and someone you can fall back on allows for you to make decisions that you might not be able to make otherwise.
Or even just having someone to talk to, they don’t even need to be there to hear your secrets or be there to help you when you need it, just someone you can talk to and make jokes with and be yourself when you’re around them. Having a friend is more than any one emotion. It allows you to share those emotions with another living being, a living being that can understand you more than a cat or a dog.

EXPECTATIONS
E
xpectations effect all of us and some can handle them better than others. What is expected of us by our parents, friends, family and teachers is not always the same as what we actually do. In some cases the most extreme of expectations effect us negatively. It all really depends on the person.
But you should always expect to have expectations put upon you. Some can be positive, like your parents expectations of your grades, or your own expectations of performance in extracurricular activities.

YOUR HIGH SCHOOL SURVIVAL GUIDE
53 .p
NOAH ROCKWOOD
Welcome 2020
Mariposa Co.
Here, I will show you the ins and outs of how to navigate your high school experience. It will come with tips and tricks and a specific guide for how to have the most enjoyable time in your 4 years at MCHS.
What matters most in life to me is satisfaction. Whether you obtain satisfaction through varying means, as long as you’re satisfied, you can achieve a state of happiness and bliss. For me, that satisfaction comes from surrounding myself with the right people, from expressing myself, to enjoying everything, to making the most out of every moment. If I follow these basic principles, then I will achieve an utmost satisfaction that will make nothing else matter in my life. They will guide me throughout my life to achieve everything I want. By surrounding myself with the right people, I give myself the opportunity to not be pressured and ultimately be myself. By making the most out of every opportunity, I know there will not be any regrets in my life, a quality that not many people can claim to have. And without any regrets, there will ultimately be satisfaction.
It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness- Charles Spurgeon
Don't wait for the perfect moment, take a moment and make it perfect- Anonymous
What Matters?
Secure Future Personally, I love to have a secure future. No ambiguity, no randomness, no obscurity to distract you from your goals. Although spontaneity can be fun in certain events, the idea of not knowing what is going to happen in the future is haunting. On the other hand, being locked into one path without any distractions will get boring, so take into account in your decisions how much this is going to impact your future while also making sure that you have fun.
People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing- Dale Carnegie
You don't need to be in a relationship, but if you are that's cool too.
RELATIONSHIPS In high school, relationships can make or break your 4 years. And I'm not talking just romantically, I'm talking about with your frineds too.. Relationships are the backbone for a lot of people. As a teenager, you rely on others to hold you up while your hormones fluctuate, depending on them to lift you up when you need it most. It is amazing to know that at least one or two people are going to be there for you. In terms of quantity, it is meaningless if you have a large group of “friends” that don’t really associate with you. But to have a large group of people that can actually be considered friends, where each and every person can be relied on, that is where you know you are living a great life. Romantic relationships can provide that certain reliance as well. That one special person should be someone you can rely on in times of need, but that shouldn’t be the only person in your life; there needs to be a balance between regular relationships and romantic relationships.

EXPECTATIONS NOAH ROCKWOOD MAGAZINE
Expectations are pretty high as a student, but you cannot let that get to your head. Whether you are expected to be a 3 sport all league athlete, or be a valedictorian, or be the drum major, or be Romeo in the play, expectations are all just a mental challenge. And they don't just come from others, they come from yourself as well. In order to not fall into complacency, you need to have expectations, but don't set your expectations so unreasonably high that you stress yourself out. FROM YOURSELF

Take these mistakes, own these mistakes. You're a teenager, it's literally impossible to not make a mistake. But you can not dwell on them. Dwelling on your mistakes will get you absolutely nowhere. Instead, see what you did wrong, learn from it, and take that advice going into the future. We as humans are only here today because of our ability to adapt to given situations. So use your natural instinct, go make a decision, and if it's wrong, don't make that same decision

HERE, IT'S SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST -
CHARLES DARWIN
What in Life Matters Most?
What I think matters most in life is money, survival, and cunning. Why? I shall tell you below! ↓ Well for money, you are not going to get that far in life without it. If you are poor and any of your ideas fail and whatnot, you are screwed my friend! If you can get yourself out of this situation, then kudos to you because very rarely is anybody that successful at recovery. Now survival is an everyday thing. Little does anyone know you are surviving this very minute, every minute. You face death every second and yet skip over it like one steps over a pebble because you are unaware of its dangerous appeal. If you are not surviving, you are dead. Last but not least: cunning. Cunning is roughly
another term for thinking with expertise and figuring out any problems and whatnot before they take their toll on you or others. In other terms, “dodging the bullet”. When you solve math problems, you are mathematically cunning as you have slyly dodged its numeral riddle, get it? This skill can be used anywhere...as long as you know what you are doing and what the consequences could be if you did them. Sometimes this may not work as well as you had hoped but it at least gave you a chance. Let me give you my quick opinion: being cunning is one of the most resourceful things you can have with much reward to be gained. If you think otherwise, it may suck to be you later on in life. “And that’s all I have to say about that.” Forrest Gump
To survive, one must endure what others dish out. I suggest you get with the program, ladies and gentlemen.
You thought money would just be handed to you? Mmm...no! You want them greenback bills, I suggest you figure out your abilities and take all opportunities before you regret a simple mistake. Make us proud!
Remember, your competition will do anything to pull you down. Rise above or suffer the consequences! Each and every moment, a challenge will be present. How you defeat it defines what you can do and perhaps what you will become. I hope you choose your battles wisely.
A Secure Future or Not? I’d say a secure future really depends on what you wish to do and how far you will go to do it. As free as you may think you are, a plan is the best way to survive on Earth for any future you wish to have. Whether you wish to explore the wonders of your planet or find a stable path to your dream job, you must find the right area of expertise you are comfortable with....or you're going to be all sorts of an emotion, mental, and physical mess. (Trust me, I've seen it. It's not pretty!) Just doing something like going into the wilderness and living off it with no knowledge of what is out there really doesn’t help...but if you can do it, then kudos to you.
If only money could grow on trees...wait, they do...but not in their finalized state! Disappointing, right? Go figure. Maybe not the kind you are used to seeing though. Perhaps you are familiar with cotton trees? Yeah, that's the stuff you hold right now. Just cotton and coloring.
In your future, I'd bet you want to be free. No taxes, no worries, no problems at all. We are all thinking it, I just said it. Well in some ways, there are methods that you can use to be free but I'd rather not tell you as that would be too easy!

Relationships Friend relationships are one keep in contact with or thing, romantic relationships see after you graduate are entirely different. For and head off to friendship, I wouldn't get too college? The whole many friends primarily because system in a loselose I've noticed many friends situation, just so you means more complications and know! at this point, you don't need those peer pressures right now. For romantic relationships, what will happen is this: you find someone you “think” you love and the relationship stays for about, oh, five months. You seem happy and whatnot until...the Spring (A.K.A Break up Season) comes and the pressure of grades, homework, and finals get to you. You begin to lose time and precious sleep and soon you’ll fight with said girl/boy and poof! You’re single...again! See the tragedy? Personally though, I wouldn’t go into any relationships except for a few close friends because let’s be honest. How many of them are you going to
"How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours." Wayne Dyer
"Truth is everybody is going to hurt you: you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for." Bob Marley
Expectations
What you expect may not be true but then again, that depends on the type of person you are...or will become. Here's a few tips: you won't become popular by doing everything the "cool" kids tell you to. Chances are they aren't that cool. What you expect of yourself should be to have something to be proud of, to be you, and to not be thrown into an uncomfortable situation is a massive goal. Your peers and superiors may have something different in mind. Most would always want you to be greater than you are by doing certain things. This doesn't always work and in reality, it can really take a toll on you. To them, grades are better than anything and while those letters can get you into college, are they really what you need to do? Just because you get the best damn grades the world has ever seen doesn't mean you're going to be the most successful. If you add an interest with that, you'll go somewhere even if your family disagrees. Now society expects you to be their perfect weapon, their key to success and if you fail, you're just a broken tool to them. They also expect your life to be steady when in fact, that won't be at least until you're about 30 years old. Unless you mess up badly. It's pretty biased, but that's my opinion.
Mistakes and Failures Mistakes are neither good nor bad but they do rely on your reaction and a reaction (two different meanings....figure it out). For the former meaning, what you do in response to said mistake determines how serious, how good, or how bad it really is. The latter meaning is the next actions you take to fix it or not do the same thing twice. School mistakes often associate with the error of judgement, the lack of knowledge, and unsureness you are feeling, maybe even the direct opposite. Nevertheless, it turns bad usually. But not to fear, it's not the worst thing going to happen to you. Now learning from them is quite the advantage. For instance, your first test doesn't go well because you forgot a calculator. You could either learn and keep one in your backpack at all times for that surprise pop quiz or you can continue to come unprepared and hope you can remember everything (not many people are successful to this so I wouldn't recommend it). The biggest mistake in school you can make is refusing to learn because you will not go too far otherwise. I don't want to pity your insubordinance because you can't follow a simple direction. Now there are good mistakes from school too. If you guess on a test because you panicked and didn't want to get a bad grade, that could go multiple ways. But if you get those guessed questions right, that's a mistake you should be proud of. The best mistakes are when teachers are wrong and you prove them wrong...and you're right! Mistakes in life aren't as easily removable nor are they as relevant as a question you knew but got wrong by a miscalculation. No, these mistakes are something else but that's for another time when you are ready to leave high school behind forever and walk to said life.

WHY THE FUTURE IS OURS TO MOLD AN INTERVIEW WITH ROBERT BOWLIN
How do we mold the future? How do we make our dreams become reality? Questions like these will be the ones that you may not have even been aware of, but are important to your life
Let's start by talking a bit about who this author is. I, Robert Bowlin (Sebastian) would consider myself an easy going, intelligent, hard worker. Someone influential in my life once said "If you want somethin' you gotta work for it, and the amount of work you put into something directly reflects how what you want changes you". This really spoke to me and has stuck with me throughout my life, the harder you work on something the more you will learn from the experience, and in the end all of your being is entirely cumulative and based on memories and experiences.
Think about your future and think about who you want to be and what you want to do, ask yourself what you need to live that life
THE IMPORTANCE OF A SECURE FUTURE Regardless of how you live you life. there will always be a future and you need to consider how your going to be living by then and prepare to make it as easy as possible As a incoming Freshman you may not realize it but your future is coming up much faster then you expect expect and you need to be prepared for that, Or you will be left behind and your going to wish you could go back in time and slap yourself this day. So listen up kiddo because here comes some intelligent brain food that you will in regret not saving in your binder every day
Okay listen up kid there are to major things I wish I could have gotten through my thick skull as a freshmen First up: Life sucks, it sucks, but listen up you need to GET OVER IT. every day is a new day, there is absolutely NO reason to brood over stupid things that wont matter anytime soon. Secondly, and this is just as important as the first and this list is in no order what so ever, SAVE YOUR MONEY. PREPARE FOR COLLEGE. having to scramble at the last second is terrible and far to stressful to deal with all the drama that will inevitably occur by the time your a Sr.

elationship building in high school is in my opinion, a great pastime but in the end rather trivial. Sure you can develop some amazing long lasting friendships, but communications will inevitably break down. There will be a time where you will stop talking to some people you may at some point have been close to.
This may be some time a year or two into high school, this may be well into your college years, but it will happen. If you accept that your minor ties will severed at some point, you focus on the people who will help you seriously throughout your

How you may not be able to hold up everyone's hopes and dreams and also be your own person, an exploration in self discovery.

There are a couple different definitions for the word "Expectations" 1. a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future 2. belief that someone will or should achieve something. 3. one's prospects of inheritance. We will be looking over all of these meanings briefly. The first definition has to do with the physical world, changes in your surrounding, this can be brought on by a change of mindset, but typically has to do with something like the weather. The second definition is what you will be experiencing most in highschool, people will want you to raise yourself to a level that you may not be able to reach, every parent wants a straight A student, who participates in sports and afterschool activities. But you may not be able to do that for many different reasons
A table of contents, usually headed simply "Contents" and abbreviated informally as TOC, is a list of the parts of a book or document organized in the order in which the parts appear. The contents usually includes the titles or descriptions of the first-level headers, such as chapter titles in longer works, and often includes second-level or section titles (A-heads) within the chapters as well, and occasionally even third-level titles (subsections or B-heads). The depth of detail in tables of contents depends on the length of the work, with longer works having less.
