Summer Service Spotlight Midwest Rabbit Rescue & Re-home is a no-kill, nonprofit shelter in Plymouth whose purpose is to place rabbits that have been abandoned, surrendered, or abused into permanent and loving homes. This project has quickly becomea favourite of Circle K members at the University of Michigan since its start this past spring. Volunteers help clean the rabbits’ homes as well as feed and cuddle with their new furry friends!
The best part of going to this project is petting all the bunnies after we clean their cages. They are all adorable and you are sure to find a favorite. For example, my favorite bunny’s name is Betty. Betty is a toothless bunny, so she is extra special! She loves to be petted and she’s very calm and relaxed. So come visit her and all the other cuties at Midwest Rabbit Rescue! –Denise Baran; Alumni Relations Committee Member The shelter is run completely through volunteers and donations. Every week, we go to clean the cages and spend time with the rabbits. It’s a fun project that I look forward to each week, and it’s great to see the rabbits find homes! -Morgan Durow; Environment Committee Member service | leadership | friendship

Summer Member Spotlight Erin Fitch
Hunger and Housing Summer Committee Member I went to Meals on Wheels this summer. Although I was only able to attend a few events, I would highly recommend this project! It is so much fun to ride around with fellow Circle K pals and deliver food to residences throughout Ann Arbor. It is definitely a great way to meet new Circle K members, and to have a great time while volunteering! Another one of my favorite events from the summer was volunteering at the community food kitchen in Ann Arbor. Like Meals on Wheels, this is a great volunteer opportunity and a great way to enjoy time with other Circle K members. At this event I helped cut and wash vegetables, and helped to pack bread into containers for distribution. This summer I also attended a social: the Beach Day social! For this event, a group of us drove to Grand Haven for the day. It was really enjoyable to spend a day at the beach (although I got a really bad sun burn), eat good food, and spend time with friends!

The 2014 Trick or Can Food Drive was a wonderful success this year! Trick or Can is an annual food drive organized by Circle K’s Hunger and Housing Committee that collects non-perishable goods from local neighborhoods on Halloween. Over 100 students from Circle K, Sister 2 Sister and Will Work for Food went door to door, collecting 2750 pounds of canned goods and non-perishables. The goods were then boxed up and donated to Food Gathers, a food rescue and food bank that serves Washtenaw County. Every year Trick or Can is one of the most exciting and inspiring events organized by Circle K. Trick or Can helps fight hunger and raises awareness of the need in our local community. This could not have been done without the support of the amazing volunteers, organizers, and community members in and around the University of Michigan! Thank you for making Trick or Can such a success! Chiara Kalogjera-Sackellares David Li Carina Teoh Secretary Treasurer -Carina Teoh Bulletin Editor ` H&H Committee Member
