The San Fran Townhouse, located in San Francisco, California, will take its inspiration from the Bohemian style of certain neighborhoods within the city. It will only be a short walk away from stores, restaurants, and the local San Francisco night-life. Light-colored wooden elements will be added to the townhouse to offset the bright whites and the many pops of color of the space resulting in a very relaxing and inviting feeling. The heavy wooden elements, like the bed frame, mixed with the muted pops of color in the upper level master bedroom and bathroom will allow this space to be used for unwinding and relaxing. The many unique patterns and furniture pieces of the lower level will allow this space to be used for congregating and conversation. This townhouse will perfectly reflect the Bohemian style of San Francisco, California.

The Greenhouse: Tea and Boba Bar is a kiosk style restaurant located in an international airport. The concept for The Greenhouse will come from the healthy, natural, fresh, and locally grown and sourced ingredients that will be served for travelers needing a healthy refuel during their time in the airport. The name “The Greenhouse” is inspired by the locally grown and sourced ingredients to give customers the illusion of buying their teas and its fresh ingredients straight from an actual greenhouse. The goal for the design of The Greenhouse will be to create on open and airy welcoming space for tired travelers to sit back and relax while enjoying healthy food options. The style and layout of the kiosk will reflect back to the style and layout of an actual greenhouse. The materials that will be used throughout the kiosk will aid the design by adding pops of color and visual interest to the space while also reflecting back to the branding created for the space. The Greenhouse will offer a variety of tea options, all made with fresh and local ingredients. Healthy grab and go snack options will also be avaliable for those needing an extra energy boost.

The Elliott Bay Family Healthcare Clinic is located in Seattle, Washington. The new clinic is a breath of fresh air from the dreary Seattle weather. Modern, comfortable furniture is used throughout so that the space does not feel like a typical clinic. A variety of seating options in the waiting area will appeal to all visitors, and the furniture arrangement will promote social activity among patients and visitors. Cool colors are used throughout the space to create a refreshing, relaxing interior. Materials such as LVT flooring, formica countertops, and vinyl upholstery are used to fight the spread of bacteria and infection throughout the clinic. Natural elements are brought indoors to help aid in the recovery of patients and to support the well-being of the staff. Way finding techniques such as flooring paths, light placement, and wooden ceilings are implemented to help easily guide visitors throughout the space.

The Studio 1862 Architecture and Design Firm is a fully functioning commercial and residential architecture and interior design firm with its own showroom. The Studio 1862 firm and the showroom are located in the Center City neighborhood of Philadelphia, more specifically the Penn Center area, and it takes up the two adjacent tenant suites on the ground floor of a Spanish Colonial Revival building. This is an adaptive reuse project, so certain original interior elements will be preserved, such as historic chandeliers, historic crown molding, marble flooring in the lobby, and bronze elevator doors. The interior of the firm is a modern, earthy style with small but impactful art deco style elements to tie back to the history of the building. The Studio 1862 firm will include separate work spaces for the architecture and design teams, collaborative spaces for them to work together, a private office available to the partners of the firm, another private office and a conference room for employees to meet with each other and with clients, a fully stocked resource center and materials library, and a kitchen and lounge space. The Studio 1862 Showroom will be an extension of the Studio 1862 firm and will include not only the showroom but a maker and construction space for custom art and furniture pieces to be built and created for Studio 1862 projects and displayed in the showroom.

Studio 1862 is designed in a modern, earthy style, including a variety of whites, creams, browns, and greens. Since the Studio 1862 team works on projects with a variety of styles, the modern, earthy style was chosen to offset these style and give team members a calm and clean working environment.

Studio 1862 will focus on small, local commercial and residential projects within Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. Projects will be led by either the architecture or design team, depending on the needs of the project. To combat COVID-19, a variety of work and seating areas, that are socially distant, will be available to team members to use.

CREATIVEFEATHERCHAIR

- Promotes different seating positions

- Seat width is 30” to allow the user more space to lounge

Feather Chair Rendering

The Feather Chair is a Bohemian style over-sized decorative lounge chair. The piece was inspired by the overlapping and arching nature of peacock feathers. The organic and asymmetrical shapes found in the seat and the “feathered” backrest contrast well with the symmetrical and structural tapered legs to create an interesting piece. Because the chair is visually and physically very heavy, the back legs are tilted slightly inwards for stability. The overlapping and curvature of the feathers help to lead the viewers eye around the chair. The seat and the feathers will be wrapped in velvet upholstery in a variety of colors. This will help to create more interest in the feathers by giving them more visual depth and dimension. The base of the chair will be created out of stained maple wood. The Feather Chair will add a unique and interesting feel to any space.

- 15 degree back pitch for ability to recline

- Large backseat backrest for full back support

FEATHER CHAIR

Ergonomic Features

- Seat height is 20”

-comfortablyExtraspace for a personal lumbar pillow to be added
