INTERFAITH IFTAR EVENT NEW WEBSITE ANNOUNCEMENT

MCC HOLDS INTERFAITH IFTAR/BREAKING OF THE FAST EVENT

On the evening of Wednesday, April 13, 2022, McLean Community Center (MCC) and the McLean Islamic Center cohosted an Iftar Dinner in the community hall. Highlighting a significant religious observance, the purpose of the event was to o er inclusive programming to underserved members of Small District 1A-Dranesville and to create meaningful connections between McLean’s various faith communities. MCC Executive Director Daniel Singh said, “We are lucky to have an abundant and vibrant community in McLean showcasing the diversity of the world right in our backyards. This dinner is a celebration of that fact.” The dinner was attended by McLean Islamic Center’s Imam Magid, Rabbi Saxe of Temple Rodef Shalom and members of their congregations. U.S. Congressman Gerry Connolly addressed the gathering, which was also attended by State Senator Barbara Favola, State Delegate Kathleen Murphy, U.S. Congressman Don Beyer, State Delegate Dan Helmer, State Senator Ghazala Hashmi and Fairfax School Board Member Abrar Omeish, among others. Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chair Je rey C. McKay sent a video message and Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust contributed remarks, which were shared by MCC Executive Director Daniel Singh.

MCC’S LAUNCHES REDESIGNED WEBSITE WITH ENHANCED FEATURES

With the help of design agency, Kompleks Creative of Durham, N.C., MCC has recently launched a new and improved website. Based on the content management system (CMS) WordPress, the redesigned site features several improvements including increased search engine optimization (SEO), more direct access to information, a new events calendar, language translation options and compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
