Honors College

The Honors College is designed for outstanding students with strong academic backgrounds who desire an alternative course of instruction at the college level. Students who participate in Honors College may be awarded financial assistance toward tuition and fees, residence hall and meal plan fees, and book expenditures. Students will also receive a special designation on their University transcript and diploma.

English Language Program (ELS): If you don’t have a TOEFL or IELTS score or simply need to perfect your English before beginning an academic program, intensive English language study is available at McNeese though ELS. Students who successfully complete level 112 of the ELS program do not need an IELTS or TOEFL score. To learn more about ELS, visit: universityguideonline.org/mcneese

Undergraduate Research

Undergraduate students at McNeese work with faculty members to conduct innovative field research. Current research by McNeese faculty and students may lead to discoveries of new antibiotics, healthier beef and pork products, mosquito control strategies, coastal restoration and innovative ways to use native plants for their natural antioxidant and antiinflammatory properties.

Honors College Criteria: ACT composite of 27 or SAT combined math and critical reading of 1210 and an overall high school GPA of 3.4 on 4.0 scale. Admission is limited and awarded on a competitive basis. Additional information, as well as the application, can be found at mcneese.edu/honors.
