MUST LOVE FLOWERS FLORIST IN FINLEY IS A ONE STOP SHOP FOR YOUR SPECIAL DAY. Formerly Buds and Blooms, owner Leonie Baxter said she’s adopted more than just a name change for her business of more than 20 years. "It represents a whole new vision I have for the business," Leonie said. "I’m exploring more of my creative side through timber work, using palettes, and can make any kind of timber decor for your wedding, to your specifications. We will also be able to provide a lolly buffet. "Must Love Flowers has the capability to access all the linens you need for the day, including table clothes, chair covers

and sashes and we can also decorate your cake table.

own flowers and plants I can also order in anything else that may be needed.

"I can help you do anything, and I am happy to travel to you on the wedding day."

"I am able to visualise and create exactly what you’re after, and can be very adaptive and versatile."

The point of difference with Must Love Flowers Florist is that Leonie grows most of the flowers and natives she uses in her floral designs. "I’ve been growing all my own roses and natives for the last 12 years, and brides can come and choose what they would like in the bouquet on the premises. They are then picked fresh for your special day. It’s a new take on how I do floristry, and while I do grow most of my

Leonie said growing her own flowers and plants on site means she can work quickly to make a bouquet, but recommended brides come in to start planning their bouquets at least one month before the big day. Must Love Flowers Florist is located at the corner of the Newell Highway and Donaldsons Rd in Finley, and can be contacted on 0458 389 798.

making your wedding day special ATTENDING A WEDDING HAS ALWAYS BEEN A SOURCE OF JOY FOR LIBBY RUSSELL, AND PARTICULARLY THE WEDDINGS OF HER TWO OLDEST DAUGHTERS. IT INSPIRED HER TO STUDY TO BECOME AN AUTHORISED MARRIAGE CELEBRATE AFTER A LONG CAREER IN DENTISTRY. Libby is based in the Southern Riverina, and can work with you to make your wedding day special. "People are at their best at a wedding and the occasion is often suffused with emotion. I am finding it to be a rare privilege to share the wedding journey with couples and especially those special moments during the wedding when the couple declare their intentions and their love for each other.

"The role of the civil celebrant is quite important as you are responsible for all of the legal aspects of a marriage and these are standard and compulsory. "The advantage of civil ceremonies, as I see it, is that the couple have more say in how they want their wedding ceremony to be and what they want to have said. "I feel that my strengths lay in being able to be a good listener and to be able to put

into words the true feelings and the unique story of each relationship. "Being able to add to a couple’s happiness on the most important day of their lives is proving to be not only surprising but also extremely rewarding for me." DENILIQUIN COUPLE RANII AND SAM WALKER WANTED THEIR WEDDING DAY TO BE A REFLECTION OF THEMSELVES. DESCRIBING THE THEME OF THE WEDDING AS "RAW ELEGANCE" THEIR CEREMONY WAS HELD BESIDE THE EDWARD RIVER ON PRIVATE PROPERTY AND THEIR RECEPTION WAS IN WHAT MOST PEOPLE WOULD THINK WAS JUST A NORMAL INDUSTRIAL SHED. BRIDE'S PARENTS: Michael Pfeifer, Geelong, VIC and Karen Marshall, Deniliquin, NSW. // GROOM'S PARENTS: Russel and Leah Walker, Deniliquin, NSW. CEREMONY & RECEPTION: Private property beside the Edward River (ceremony) and the Old Lyceum Theatre (reception).  e v o l e w  THE RUSTIC STYLING AND LOCATION

Sam and Ranii's reception venue was originally the Lyceum Theatre, which housed many events back into the early 1900s. "Our reception venue had long been a simple hobby shed, but it had a really exciting past that we were so excited to share with everyone," Ranii said. "It has huge beams made from Douglas Fir (Oregon) and even some of the original shutters that were used to bring light into the theatre in its early days. The owner, Ian Ennor, was so brilliant to us. We will be forever grateful for all the hard work and countless hours he put in to helping us create our special day. I can still picture how beautiful it was when we switched on the fairy lights." Having already started their family, Ranii and Sam said it was important not to make the event too extravagant. "We did a lot of DIY to save money, and had lots of help from friends and family. We are a young family, so for us we had to be clever about where we could save. There was a lot of late nights and early mornings in preparation for the big day but I think we both found it incredibly satisfying to have been able to create so much ourselves," Ranii said. The couple said while this approach meant they could not relax too much on the big day, because they had so many things to set up, they would not have had it any other way. "I think the biggest piece of advice I can give is to prioritise. It’s easy to get caught up in all the bits and pieces that are available, and at the end of the day, your guests don’t remember what linen you chose or what cutlery you had. For us, good food, good wine, and good photography were our top picks," Ranii said. Ranii’s maid of honour was Melissa Klumpp and bridesmaids were Rebecca Hobbs, Lauren Little and Verity Hart. Sam’s best man was Scott Howard and his groomsmen were his brother Liam Walker, Angus Hardy and Jake Sullivan. bride and groom // 9

WHEN YOU GET

ENGAGED

Announce your engagement and start to organise your engagement celebration. Place engagement notices in your local newspapers. Buy the engagement ring (if you haven’t already got the rock on your finger!) Decide on a budget for the wedding day. Decide on the date and time you would like to hold your wedding. Decide on whether you are having a wedding close to home or a special destination. Decide on the style of wedding you would like; ie black tie, lounge suit, smart casual etc. Decide on a theme and colours you would like to follow.

wedding ceremony and the wedding reception.

If you plan on using someone to organise your entire wedding, book your wedding coordinator now.

Do a rough guest list, to be edited as needed, to get down to the size you have planned.

Start your health and beauty regime.

Start thinking about your honeymoon destination.

WHEN YOU

HAVE SET THE DATE Book and confirm the wedding venue for both your ceremony and reception. If you are planning an outdoor event, make sure you have shelter if needed or an alternative venue.

Look at wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses. Choose your bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Consult potential wedding decorators.

Start looking at wedding photographer and videographer portfolios.

MONTHS BEFORE Book and confirm your wedding photographer and videographer. If the venue you have chosen does not supply the food, start looking for and booking your wedding caterers and think about the menu and the drinks. If hire equipment is needed, find a reputable and reliable hire company and book whatever you need; ie tables, chairs, marquee etc. If you are having your wedding dress made, select your wedding designer and wedding dress and get started on the gown.

Get the designer and dressmaker to start work on your bridesmaids dresses if they are being made and to schedule in all the fittings required giving everyone plenty of notice. Decide on your wedding decorator and book them (they may be able to assist with the hire of any equipment you may need). Think about your wedding ceremony musicians and the entertainment for your wedding reception. Listen to clips from different musicians via their website or ask them to send you a demo. Interview DJs. Book your wedding cars and any wedding transport you may need for your guests. Consider your wedding invitations and stationery and organise to have them printed ready to send 6-8 weeks in advance, ie invitations, RSVPs, thank you notes, place cards, bridal registry cards etc. Make preliminary bookings for your honeymoon, particularly if you are planning to go overseas.

Make sure your passport is up to date, and if you are changing your surname, you may have to do some alterations. Give your overseas or interstate guests notice of the wedding date - send out a save the date card. Book your entertainment. Book the celebrant or chaplain and speak to who will be marrying you, and discuss your requirements. Fill out Notice of Intention to Marry, no more than 6 months before but no less than 1 month and a day. Make appointment for groom and groomsmen for suit fittings and accessories.

4-6

MONTHS BEFORE Choose a bridal registry and print cards to be included with the wedding invitations, or have your bridesmaids and friends subtly spread the word. Organise a time to go and select the items you want on your bridal registry. Look at florists specialising in wedding flowers. Select your bridal bouquets, button holes, wedding ceremony and wedding reception flowers. Start looking and booking your hair and makeup artist. Mothers of the bride and groom may want to coordinate their outfits so give them an indication of your chosen colours, flowers and style. Book the bridal suite for the wedding night.

3

MONTHS

BEFORE

Organise your wedding rings. Look at wedding cakes and order your favourite for the wedding day. Arrange hotels/motels for any overseas or interstate guests.

Finalise the menu with the caterer, and select the wines and champagnes. Finalise the floor plan for your wedding reception; ie where the bridal table is, how the guest tables will be placed, where the DJ or band will play, where you will cut the cake, where the dance floor will be, where the MC and speech makers will stand. Organise the bridal table and tables for the parents of the bride and groom. Start to make a tentative guest seating plan. Organise your bomboniere and other wedding extras such as disposable cameras, wedding bubbles, rose petals, confetti, etc.

Make sure your attendants organise your hens or bucks night at least a week before the wedding to avoid any hangovers on the day! Start getting into the wedding celebrations and hold your bridal shower. Have a trial day with your hair and makeup artist to experiment with styles. Take your head piece with you. Book an appointment at a beauty salon for at least one week before the wedding day for any waxing and facials you may need, and organise a manicure and pedicure for a few days before. Buy your wedding lingerie, and spare hosiery for both yourself and the bridesmaids.

Send out the wedding invitations.

Give venue and caterers an estimated number of guests.

Start planning your order of service for the wedding ceremony and select (or start writing your own) hymns, vows and readings.

Reconfirm everyone ... the wedding cars, florists, entertainment, hair and makeup artist, photographer and videographer etc

Choose what music you’d like to have played throughout the wedding ceremony.

Book in the entire bridal party for the wedding ceremony rehearsal, usually held in the week leading up to the event.

Buy gifts for your bridal party, mum and dad and of course for each other. Get documentation from the celebrant/church/ synagogue/temple and fill in necessary forms. Appoint your MC, either a reliable friend or a professional.

4-6

WEEKS BEFORE Pick up wedding rings and get engraved if necessary. Put together a schedule for the pre wedding preparation, wedding ceremony and the wedding reception and give the relevant sections to all the people involved. Include maps if necessary. Decide the order of speeches. Keep your guest list and RSVPs up to date.

2

WEEKS

BEFORE

Have your engagement ring professionally cleaned. Confirm final numbers with venue and caterers. Finalise seating arrangements. Write the place cards or have them written by a calligrapher. Make a master seating plan display so your guests can see where their tables are and also give one to the reception venue. Make sure you have a definite collection date for everyone's wedding attire. Check all wedding speeches are well on their way. If you have time, start writing thank you notes as you receive gifts.

Wear in your wedding shoes, and scruff the bottom to ensure you don’t slip. Confirm EVERYTHING once again! Start getting plenty of much needed rest!

1

WEEK

BEFORE

Have your waxing and other beauty treatments at the salon. Reconfirm the bridal suite. Have the wedding ceremony rehearsal. Pack your bags ready for your honeymoon. Pack an emergency kit for the day, which the bride’s mother can carry. Pick up the tickets and itinerary for your honeymoon and organise travellers cheques, travel insurance and a little extra spending money on your credit card if possible. Reconfirm flights 72 hours before.

THE NIGHT

BEFORE

Lay out your wedding shoes, jewellery, tiara and veil ready for the following day and keep your wedding dress in a safe place. Take a long bath, burn some essential oils and listen to some relaxing music. Get a good night's sleep.

ON THE

DAY

Have a healthy breakfast as you will be needing all the energy you can get! Refer to your pre wedding preparation schedule. Relax, go with the flow and enjoy your day. Remember, if anything goes wrong it will make a great story later!

choosing your ring YOUR WEDDING RING IS SOMETHING THAT YOU’LL WANT TO WEAR FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, SO IT HAS TO BE PERFECT. Whether you want a traditional band or something more unique, Deniliquin Jewellers manager Kate Smith offers the following top tips to help you choose the perfect style for you. Narrow Your Choices - Because this is one of the few pieces - if not the only piece - of jewellery you'll shop for together and wear every day, make some preliminary choices before you hit the stores. What colour metal do you prefer: yellow, white or rose? Are you interested in something simple or over-the-top? Start Your Search Early - Once you have a basic idea of what you want, head into our store. Give yourselves at least two months to browse, research, price and revisit rings

that catch your eye. Allow even more time if you're interested in a custom piece; extras such as engraving can take more time too.

Think Long-Term - Don't be afraid to be trendy, but make sure the style you choose is something you'll still want to wear in 20 years.

Be Different - Don't fret if you like platinum while he likes yellow gold. There's no rule that you have to match metals or even styles. Pick wedding bands that reflect each of your style sensibilities and tastes.

Size It Right - Most people rarely take their wedding band off, do your ‘final fitting’ when you are calm and your body temperature is normal.

Set a Budget - Have an idea about what you would like to spend and stick to it. Be Practical - Keep your lifestyle in mind at all times. Remember, you'll be wearing this band every day. The idea is to choose something that seamlessly becomes a part of your life.

Clean It Often Protect Your Investment - Your ring is a lasting keepsake of your special day, think about insurance. Keep It Safe - Be careful when travelling with your jewellery. bride and groom // 13

FAMILY CONNECTION PLAYED A HUGE PART IN THE WEDDING OF KATE AND LAWRENCE WALSH. THE COUPLE CHOSE TO BE MARRIED AT KATE’S MOTHER HELEN’S FINLEY HOME, WHICH THE BRIDE SAID FIT IN WITH THEIR DESIRE FOR THE CELEBRATION TO BE "FUSS FREE". BRIDE'S PARENTS: Stan and Helen Armstrong, Finley, NSW // GROOM'S PARENTS: John and Margaret (dec) Walsh, Bury, England. CEREMONY & RECEPTION: Private property, Finley. CELEBRANT: Vanessa Rankin. // PHOTOGRAPHER: Justin Lee Photography, NSW Coast. BRIDE'S DRESS: Brides and Maids, Shepparton. FLOWERS: Wren Floralista. // CAKE: Cakes by Micka, Finley. we love A FUSS FREE WEDDING

The sense of family was also infused in the bridal party, with Kate’s son Riley Weekes standing up as one of Lawrence’s groomsmen. Even the timing of the wedding was related to family. Lawrence proposed to his bride in March 2017, but when the couple found out they were expecting a child the following August their plans for the wedding changed. "Our plans were put on hold, so our child could be involved," Kate said. "We wanted a celebration that had a relaxed feel, with soft touches — something to suit our style. There was really not too much to organise because we wanted fuss free wedding, so it was very easy going with the planning. Everything flowed really well. It did rain and was windy in the morning, but just before the ceremony the day became perfect." Kate chose a flowing look for her bridal gown, with a classic v-neck front with lace overlay and beading. The bright white of her dress was perfectly contrasted by her bouquet of pale pink double ranunculus, roses and vibrant greenery. Pink hues was also the inspiration for the bridal party, with matron of honour Kelly Lawler and bridesmaids Kristeen Culton and Kate Mueller wearing blush pink dresses each representing the individual’s style. In addition to Riley, Lawrence was attended by best man Pat Kelly and groomsman Steve Johnson. bride and groom // 15
