ased on the real-life relationship of composer Marvin Hamlisch and lyricist Carole Bayer Sager, a wisecracking composer finds a new, off-beat lyricist. When Vernon Gersch invites Sonia Walsk to his luxury Manhattan apartment the meeting uncovers two very different personalities. He is aloof and focused, while she is disorganised and distracted – but Vernon has already written music to one of Sonia's lyrics, so they decide to forge ahead. To get to know each other better on a professional level, Vernon and Sonia go out to dinner. But, hearing one of their songs played at the venue that night, the couple admit to their deeper feelings and embark on a relationship. After living and working together, the romance soon hits trouble. They're Playing Our Song features two star characters (played by husband and wife Scott Irwin and Danielle Barnes) singing such memorable songs as I Still Believe in Love, If He Really Knew Me, They’re Playing Our Song and Fallin’, making this romantic comedy an unforgettable evening of stellar

The thing is – and this is a true story – Katz spent her commission (and then some) actually going to a fortune teller. In New York. More than once. very-big-part failed romance (or not-so failed, you’ll have to come and see). It’s confrontingly personal and at times cringe inducingly honest. It’s a fascinating examination of life imitating art or art imitating life, or manufacturing life to put into art. Anyone who’s met her will know that the word ‘irrepressible’ has nothing on Lally Katz, even at her quietest. She makes chaos charming and catastrophe positively exuberant. She likes to be laughed at, and her method is to talk first and think later. Her only previous stage credit is playing a rabbit in her version of Frankenstein, which was also Ralph Myers’ directorial debut.

The Dead Daisies with Jon Stevens The Dead Daisies have begun their Australian tour to great reviews and are set to bring their exciting show to the Mulwala Water Ski Club on March 1.
MARCH 1
T
he line-up for The Dead Daisies Australian dates features Jon Stevens (INXS/Noiseworks), David Lowy (Red Phoenix/Mink), Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses/ Psychedelic Furs), Dizzy Reed (Guns N’ Roses/Hookers and Blow), Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake) and newcomer to the band, John Tempesta (The Cult/Rob Zombie). "I’m really excited about the release of The Dead Daisies debut album in Australia. We’ve been on tour in the US and UK over the last 6 months and can't wait to play shows at home. The Dead Daisies will be
rocking around Australia,” Stevens said in anticipation of the Australian tour. The Australian tour comes off the back of a whirlwind year which saw the group tour with Aerosmith, headline a stage across North America alongside Alice in Chains and Jane’s Addiction, and play sell out shows throughout the UK and Israel. The bands live shows have left a huge impression wherever and whenever they perform with their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album receiving amazing reviews. The 12-track self-titled debut album features their UK hit single “Lock N’ Load” featuring Slash, which was co-written by Slash and features the inimitable guitar playing of the legendary guitarist. The Dead Daisies with Jon Stevens will appear the Mulwala Water Ski Club on Saturday March 1.
Waaia Modifed Tractor Pull The roar of modified tractors will again echo around Waaia as the annual Modified Tractor Pull fires up on Saturday, March 15.
T
he action will be non-stop as competitors converge from all across south eastern Australia to compete in this Australian Tractor Pullers Association Series Event.
MARCH 15
The arena is just 5kms north of Waaia and is well sign posted, gates open at 2pm and the action kicks off at 3pm. The awesome pulling power of the highly modified machines provides fast and furious entertainment. These ‘tractors’ certainly don’t look like tractors. Each one is personalised by the owner, come in all shapes and sizes and they are a sight to see.
Enjoy the fast-paced action at the Waaia Modified Tractor Pull.
This year will be a twilight event beginning at 3pm and continuing under lights until around 10pm. As the evening settles in, the atmosphere increases with the flames from exhausts lighting up the track and the exhaust of the Smoker class becoming a well-lit candle pumping out billowing smoke as it tears up the track. Local sporting and community groups will provide the excellent catering and bar facilities. A delegated ‘dry side’ of the track will also ensure a great atmosphere that guarantees your family a safe and relaxing day out.
There will be added entertainment for the kids with a jumping castle, free train rides and a display by the junior pullers in the Mower
Class. There will be a raffle with many prizes to be won. An evening tea break will also provide an
opportunity for fans to enter the pits and check out these machines up close, and to talk to the drivers. Entry is $20.00 over 18s, $10 aged pensioners, $5 under 18’s and under 5s free. If you would like further information, please contact Karen on 03 58682233.
