Expo has something to please everyone The animals are groomed, the entertainers are at the ready and the gates are about to open for the 28th edition of the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo. Held in the heart of Victoria at Seymour’s Kings Park, event manager Jamie Gilbert said with more than 400 exhibitors the expo had something for everyone. “Come and explore the latest technology, practises and trends in small and backyard farming, visit the animals and enjoy the market style shopping, food and entertainment,” Jamie said. A stalwart of the farming calendar, the expo puts the spotlight on modern farming methods, ag-tech solutions and sustainability. “Every year exhibitors showcase the latest technological advancements, machinery and equipment in the agricultural industry for small acreage farming,” Jamie said. “Over the years the event has grown to incorporate sustainability, including off-thegrid, renewable resources and low-impact living. “There is also an opportunity to get up close and personal with unique livestock breeds, learn tips on raising unusual paddock pals
and get up-to-date on animal health and farm diversity ideas in the Small Farms Learning Hub.” Jamie said the expo was also a great family fun day out, with plenty of star-studded entertainment for all ages. “This year we’ve added the All 4 FMX quad bike demos to the huge entertainment lineup, while the Flipping Disc Dogs are back fresh from the Australia’s Got Talent stage,” he said. “There’s the ever-popular Kids’ Corner and the Country Kitchen and Butcher Shop where chef Adrian Hensley and butcher Vic Bonacci will cook up a storm.”
Welcome to Seymour Welcome to Mitchell Shire and the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo. We are very excited to be hosting the annual Seymour Alternative Farming Expo in Seymour this year. The Seymour Alternative Farming Expo will celebrate 28 years in 2020 with more than 400 stallholders and exhibitors expected to appear at the show. An estimated 22"000 visitors are expected across the three days, with the expo anticipated to bring in more than $6"million to the local economy. This fosters the continued growth and development of our agricultural sector as well as our broader community and region"—"a very welcome boost during the widespread drought that so many people are experiencing. The expo is all about rural innovation. It brings together new tricks and techniques alongside traditional
approaches to help the sector adapt through challenging conditions and grow in the good times. One of the highlights for me is seeing the different exhibitors and what they have to offer. You can get up close and personal and learn from many of these experienced people first-hand. Even if you aren’t a primary producer or hobby farmer, there are plenty of things to see and do including butchery, country cooking, craft, woodwork, camping, clothes and plenty of products for around the home including sheds, gates, windows, pools, water set-ups and energy efficiency. If it takes your fancy, or if you have little ones, you can visit an array of different animals in the farmyard and at the reptile encounters.
Our region’s produce is also featured with plenty to eat and drink from a range of local and regional suppliers. With so many new and innovative ways to farm, I am excited to learn something new at the 2020 Seymour Alternative Farming Expo. If you’re visiting Mitchell Shire or have friends and family coming for the expo, be sure to read the Discover Seymour information in this publication or drop in to the Discover Mitchell tourism stand to see what else we have on offer in the area. I encourage you to visit the Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk, the Australian Light Horse Memorial Park and our brand new fishing platform at Goulburn Park. You can also check out our local restaurants, hotels, cafes or wineries. For those visiting the shire I hope you
enjoy your stay in Seymour. Congratulations to the hardworking volunteers, staff and community members who have made this expo a success for nearly three decades. I would also like to extend a thank you to the patrons who have visited over the years. We look forward to seeing you all again this year. Cr David Lowe Mitchell Shire Mayor

Are you up for the challenge? With thousands of rural enthusiasts set to attend the agricultural mecca that is the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo, many will be pleased to hear the Ag Skills Victoria Young Farmer Challenge sponsored by The Weekly Times will feature across this year’s three-day event. Held on the back oval during the lunch break at 1 pm, participants will battle it out in a series of hair-raising games ranging from livestock identification to drench gun challenges and a fencing face-off. Ag Skills Victoria trainer and director Leon Carter said there would be two categories — under 18 and 18 to 35 — run in a time trial format, which would certainly yield plenty of laughs. “It is such a great event, come along and support young farmers and encourage the next generation,” Leon said. “Friday’s main focus will be about getting as many school kids involved as we can,
whereas the Saturday and Sunday is about the general public. “There will also be a gold coin donation from all participants which will be put forward to the BlazeAid charity.” Guaranteed to produce messy moments, agricultural antics and ‘shear’ thrills, it would be a crime to miss this spectacular event — no bull.

Expo ambassador started from scratch It was a tree change that saw a former marketing specialist make the leap to become a first generation sheep farmer. With a passion for quality and sustainability, Toni Barton purchased an 81!ha property at Nulla Vale, east of Lancefield. Starting with just 40 Australian White lambs in 2012, she began building the farm from the ground up. “The tree change came for the desire to grow my own food,” Toni said. New to the farming game, Toni wasn’t afraid to think outside of the box. Taking advantage of the breed’s reputation as the ‘Wagyu of lamb meat’, in 2016 and with a flock of 250, the entrepreneur launched lamb bacon.
“Innovation and value adding in agriculture is critical to our sustainable future; we have many mouths to feed and I want to show others that it is achievable off small acreage,” she said. “I really hadn’t considered I’d be feeding thousands of families each month with my fresh lamb and lamb smallgoods. It’s an honour to be entrusted as the source of lamb proteins for so many.” Toni said launching Australia’s firstever lamb smallgoods enterprise was more than she ever bargained for. But from the get-go she knew it was fundamentally important to manage the gut flora and health of the flock.
“I committed early on that we would never grain-feed our stock, even if it meant we needed to make sacrifices with volume of output. “The biggest challenge was to find the courage to stay small and sustainable and to say no to particular customers. “I made the decision to provide food direct to the customer, to my 1000 families, so I have declined to work with many chefs, wholesalers and export contracts and stay small.” With grace and grit, Toni learned everything from boning out lambs and packaging to smallgoods manufacturing. She has paved the way in sales and
distribution for The Original Lamb Bacon Co. “The lamb smallgoods, on the other hand, the biggest challenge has been growing from boutique brand to a global brand,” Toni said. “It’s taken a lot longer than I had anticipated. There is no road map for exporters follow.” Toni is the 2020!ambassador for the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo and will share her knowledge during a number of talks at the Small Farms Learning Hub throughout the event. Lambacon is located at site L46.

HERO horses thrive in new careers The fate of horses when they are retired from racing has made headlines in recent months, but the HERO Program gives pacers and trotters the chance to enjoy a second life beyond the racetrack. Harness Education and Re-homing Opportunities (HERO) is a joint initiative of Harness Racing Victoria and the State Government through the Victorian Racing Industry Fund. HERO promotes life after racing options for retired standardbreds, with an emphasis on developing positive pathways for horses exiting the competitive environment; delivering a professional and responsible retraining and rehoming service; and encouraging industry participants to factor retirement into their day-to-day welfare programs. The HERO Program will exhibit a variety of retired standardbred horses across the three days of the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo!—!pacers and trotters who have gone on to enjoy a second life beyond the racetrack. Tanya McDermott from HERO said it would demonstrate the standardbred’s wonderful temperament, adaptability and unlimited potential in equestrian pursuits outside of harness racing. “There is no better way to change outdated stereotypes than to get out and about and show as many different people as possible just what these horses are able to achieve with time, patience and commitment,” Tanya said. “HERO Program graduate horses have gone on to participate very
successfully in a wide and varied range of activities including endurance, showing, extreme cowboy competition (obstacles on horseback), equine assisted learning, adult riding and pony club, trail riding and liberty training.” HERO jumped at the opportunity to be the feature equestrian exhibit at the 2020 expo and is delighted to be able to share the program’s success stories. “There will be an opportunity to get up close and personal, to meet the horses and hear about their lives!—!before, during and after racing,” Tanya said.
HERO Program graduate Clark Griswold competing at the Extreme Cowboys Australia National Championships. Picture: Olya Tutova (42Beats)
“Some of the HERO Program’s retrainers will be on hand to discuss the transition of horses from harness to saddle and assist anyone who has an interest in off the track ‘standies’ and is seeking advice or support.” HERO does not discriminate on the basis of racetrack performance and enjoys outstanding support from Victoria’s standardbred breeders, owners and trainers. By far the greatest number of inquiries come for horses which, due to injury or a medical condition, or lack of ability, fail to make a significant impression during their racing life. See the HERO Horses in action at the horse arena.

The future of farming may be in houses and BMWs Hemp. It’s the super crop with an image problem. At this year’s Seymour Alternative Farming Expo, experts will be demonstrating the many and varied uses of the wonder fibre commonly associated with hippy counterculture. David Brian from Southern Hemp, a company which builds hemp walls and consults with farmers on growing the crop, will be talking at the expo about how hemp can help people and the environment. David said he would be showing visitors how to build hemp dog kennels to demonstrate the benefits of hemp houses and to teach people how they can build them. “Hemp houses have high thermal insulation, which saves up to 80 per cent on energy costs,” he said. “They’re fire, mould and pest-resistant
and they’re breathable, making a healthy environment.” Another key feature, particularly in Australia, is that hemp can be used in flame zone rated areas. David will be joined by members of Hemp Victoria on site to educate people about how hemp is the fibre of the future. In August last year, the Victorian Government announced a new industrial hemp taskforce to investigate how the fibre can provide new manufacturing opportunities and jobs for regional Victorians. Speaking last August, Reason Party leader and Victorian MP Fiona Patten said Victoria was perfectly poised to exploit the recent relaxation of regulations on hemp in the United
States and the lifted restriction on using hemp as a high protein food product in Australia and New Zealand. “We’re seeing car parts being made with hemp in other jurisdictions and it’s a great opportunity for Victoria to move back into the industry of hemp automobile and aeroplane parts,” she said. “It’s an incredibly lightweight product that’s replacing steel in many industries — it’s the strongest natural fibre in the world.” David said as the hemp industry developed, there would be exciting opportunities coming up — such as hemp products being used in BMW cars in Europe. David’s talk — Hemp Growing and Hemp Houses — will be on at noon
David Brian shows off his prize crop. on the Friday and Saturday of the expo, and at 1!pm on the Sunday. His dog kennel building classes will run at 10.30!am and 2!pm each day. Learn all about hemp at site number T47.

FAMILY FUN & ENTERTAINMENT
You can mix adrenaline-pumping free-style motocross with venomous snakes and whip-cracking competitions or take the calmer route with kelpie training, car gazing and the fine craft of woodwork − there will be something for the whole family at Seymour. The ALL4FMX team will be flying through the air performing all sorts of tricks on motorbikes and quad bikes. “We are the only team in Australia that has a backflipping quad-biker in our ranks — come and enjoy,” Mitch Van Vilet said. “We land our tricks on a huge air bag which means we can take more risks in the air.”
If you like puppies or want to train your own kelpie there will be miniature demonstrations put on by Paul Macphail!—! he’ll be bringing in sheep and ducks to show people how to efficiently train kelpies for use around the farm. There will be hand-made wooden rocking horses — Olivia O’Connor has spent the past 10 years perfecting her craft and still
uses all the traditional tools as well as real horse hair for their manes. Allan Burnett will be giving attendees the chance to literally rub shoulders with some of the world’s most deadly snakes “I want to teach people how to handle snakes and educate them on what to do if they come into contact with them in the wild,” Allan said.
‘Seymour Alternative Farming Expo’, February, 2020—PAGE 13
Snakes alive Every 30 minutes there is a chance to rub shoulders with some of the deadliest snakes in the world in the safest way possible with Allan Burnett from Reptile Awareness Displays of Australia. Allan, who owns the business, has a 20-year history as an intensive care paramedic. His mission is to educate people on how to understand the characteristics and behaviours of reptiles − at the heart of this is a ‘prevention rather than cure’ ethos. During the 20-minute presentation Allan will educate attendees and give them techniques and tips on how to avoid snakebites. He’ll also have five out of the top 10 most venomous snakes in the world — inland taipan (1), eastern brown (2), coastal taipan (3), tiger snake (4) and a death adder (9). There will also be a red-bellied black snake, some pythons and lizards. Located at EA1.
Traditional skills Olivia O’Connor has 10 years of experience hand-carving wooden rocking horses. She will be running wood-carving demonstrations with tips and suggestions, as well as doing some minor restorations to wooden horses. All the rocking horses are hand-carved, use real horse hair and the saddles are hand-stitched. Olivia uses traditional tools like gouges, drawknives and spokeshaves. Located at E47.
Wonderful woodwork
An adrenaline rush The ALL4FMX team will exhibiting freestyle motocross skills in a 25-minute action-packed show for the whole family to enjoy. You will get to see the only quad bike freestyle rider in Australia to do a backflip. They use an air bag to minimise their risks when landing, allowing them to push the boundaries in the air. Afterwards there will be a ‘meet and greet’ with the riders and a chance to get an autograph from these daredevils. Located on the main oval.

If you like the fine craft of woodwork, the Bendigo Woodturners stall will have everything you’re after. From bowls and boxes to toys and clocks, everything will be on display and available for sale. All items are well-priced to suit all budgets. There will also be demonstrations of woodturning, pyrography, carving and scroll sawing. The talented club members will be available and more than willing to chat about the items on display as well as provide technical advice on construction. All these items are hand-crafted by the members, so every piece is unique and a work of art to use and enjoy. There is something for all the family. Located at E50.
Dogs in action Paul Macphail believes kelpies are an untapped resource for farmers. He’ll be sharing the knowledge he’s accumulated over 25 years of breeding and training kelpies. He will be doing three 45-minute demonstrations with some adult dogs and puppies, where he brings in ducks and sheep to show expo visitors how to train them to herd effectively and efficiently. There will be a chance for people to ask questions about their own kelpies; if they have had troubles raising and training them, Paul can provide assistance. Located on the main oval.
Rev heads rejoice If you enjoy car gazing than the Seymour Car Club will be putting on a real treat for you. The club will be exhibiting cars of all makes and models from different eras on the oval; the club’s oldest car is a 1927 Chevrolet. There will be all kinds of motor vehicles including cars, utes and motorbikes. There will also be information available about the Seymour Car Club. It’s a static display for all members of the family to soak up the atmosphere of classic cars and take some pictures. Located on the main oval.
Crack that whip The Victorian Whip Cracking Titles will take place on the rear oval on Saturday. You will have the chance to witness some of Australia’s most talented whip-crackers display their hours of hard work as they vie for the title. The loud cracks that you will hear is their whips travelling faster than the speed of sound (more than 1200!km/h) creating a sonic boom. Located on the rear oval.

FARMING & LIVESTOCK When thinking about the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo, the first thing that comes into most people’s minds is animals. Whether it was acrobatic dogs or a first chance to get close to an alpaca, most visitors to the expo have had a memorable encounter with some special animals. People looking to make a tree change, start a hobby farm or looking for a retirement project often head along to the expo for inspiration or good quality
information and advice from people who have already been there and done that. The expo attracts breeders of a wide variety of less common sheep, cattle, goats and poultry, usually ones well-suited to smaller operations. Even camels, bees and crickets have been part of the expo.
Exhibitors come to raise awareness of the breed they are involved with and are always happy to share their experience and knowledge. A visit to the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo could be the experience that sets you on the road to your next adventure.

Such likeable cows When Hettie Biersteker, from Silvan Park Belted Galloways, got the opportunity to get her first cows about 10 years ago, she fell in love with Belted Galloways. Originally attracted by their distinctive appearance, Hettie said when they researched the breed, they found the animals had lots of likeable traits. Silvan Park selects very strictly when it comes to temperament, as most of the stud’s sales are to people who aren’t experienced with livestock.
“We want quiet calves that are safe to handle,” Hettie said. Hettie had visited the expo for almost a decade, and in 2019 Silvan Park became a first-time exhibitor and will be exhibiting again this year. “The Seymour expo attracts a lot of small landholders and hobby farmers,” Hettie said. “These are the people we are looking for to buy our young stock.” Located in cattle pavilion 8.
Cordless convenience When Arnd Enneking was dealing with flies in his Merino flock, he decided he needed a cordless handpiece he could use in the paddock. He was surprised to find that there was no such thing on the market in Australia but found one made overseas. Having contacted the manufacturer, he and wife Heidi have now become Mobishear Australia. “The handpiece fits any conventional wide combs and cutters,” Heidi said. “It is perfect for the really dirty, awkward jobs such as crutching and dagging where a cord is a hindrance.” This is the first year Mobishear has exhibited at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo. “It seems like a good fit for us, as we find that a lot of small landholders like the convenience of being able to treat their few stock in their own time,” Heidi said. Located at B29.
Breeding quiet Reds Jeff Boland of Claremont Red Angus will be bringing a couple of his young bulls to Seymour this year. The Bolands have been breeding Red Angus cattle since 1999. “Breeding quiet cattle is our number one priority,” Jeff said. Farmers who rear other breeds are often impressed by how quiet and easy to handle the Red Angus are and sometimes they will buy a Red Angus bull “to take the sting out of their breed,” Jeff said. Claremont Red Angus has been coming to the expo for about 20 years and Jeff now looks after the cattle shed, ensuring that everyone has enough room for their cattle. “Everyone knows everyone, and everyone gets on well,” Jeff said. “Everyone is there to promote and display their breeds.” Located in cattle pavilion 5.

Chatting about chooks
Quality sheep and cattle
Farmer Little will be exhibiting its wide range of poultry production products at the expo. The company stocks everything for the free-range poultry producer, backyard chickens and other small animals. There will be a large display of nest boxes, a range of feeders, drinkers and electric fences to suit a few backyard chooks through to thousands of chickens producing free-range and barn-laid eggs. Farmer Little also has incubators and brooders for hatching and raising chicks plus unique products to keep chickens healthy and producing lots of great eggs. “Ask about our fully compliant mobile shed for 1200 birds for your free-range enterprise and our unique egg transport system,” Leanne Davies said. “We look forward to seeing you at Seymour and ‘chatting chook’ and hopefully we can be of some help.” Located at L7.
Merribrook Livestock enjoyed a successful 2019 with its cattle and sheep and its owners are looking forward to returning to Seymour. “We will be taking White Suffolk sheep, White Dorpers and Angus cattle to our site,” Merribrook owner Graeme Collins said. Merribrook has been exhibiting at the expo for 12 years. “We’ve made some good friends over the years of the site holders near to us,” Graeme said. “We continue to meet new and return buyers every year, which is the best part.” Located at B66.
Small only in size Lowline cattle have been exhibited at the expo for many years by individual breeders or by the Australian Lowline Cattle Association. The breed was developed in Australia from Aberdeen Angus and their compact frames (about 60 per cent the size of larger breeds) makes them a good option for smaller farms. “The philosophy and standing of Australian Lowline cattle aligns with the alternative farming expo as they are true alternatives to the traditional beef producing cattle,” Steve O’Brien from the association said. “With the benefits of efficient feed conversion, compact size culminating in appropriate size meat cuts. “Our aim at the alternative farming expo is to raise awareness of the benefits of Australian Lowline cattle.” Visitors to the expo will be able to see animals and collect information about the breed and breeders. Located in cattle pavilion 11.

Staying safe on quad bikes Quad bikes are a leading cause of farm deaths and injuries in Australia. Even when you travel the same speed, take the same path or complete the same routine, it only takes one thing different for something to go wrong. It could be a wash-out on the track after last night’s storm, lower tyre pressure on the left-hand side, an unstable load or an unexpected rabbit hole. It may feel like today’s routine is the same as yesterday, but the circumstances aren’t the same. In the examples above, your quad bike can tip or roll over even at the slowest of speeds, leaving you at risk of being trapped under the vehicle. For many, this has led to tragic deaths from being crushed or from
asphyxiation. Steps to make your quad bike safer include: • taking advantage of the Victorian Government’s safety rebate; • performing regular maintenance checks; • wearing a helmet; • appropriate loading; and • not taking passengers. The Victorian Government’s quad bike safety rebate has been extended to Tuesday, June 30. It’s now open to farmers whose main source of income is not from farming. The rebate offers up to $1200 towards installing two operator protective devices (OPDs) or $1200 towards an alternate vehicle, such as a side-by-side. To find out more and to apply, visit: worksafe.vic.gov.au/quadbikes
WorkSafe staff members with OPDs fitted to quad bikes. You can visit the WorkSafe Victoria at sites EB34-EB35 at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo. Learn more about making your farm a safe and healthy workplace, check out the virtual quad bike experience and share the new developments on your farm.
GOTAFE Certificate IV in Agribusiness and Agriculture student Taylor Hamilton at her parents’ farm in Tongala.
Supporting the future of agriculture With a long history of supporting training in the agricultural sector, GOTAFE is committed to providing the skills and training needed to meet the farming challenges of the future. Victoria produced $14.9"billion worth of agricultural product from 11"million hectares in 2017–18. In that same year, $14.2"billion of food and fibre was also exported, making Victoria Australia’s largest food and fibre exporter. The Victorian Government has made a significant investment in agriculture and is supporting the development of the future skills that are needed in the industry through its Free TAFE initiative. GOTAFE is excited to be offering a range of free agriculture TAFE courses in 2020. At GOTAFE, agriculture and food production students work with industry specialists and gain the skills required to help ensure our region is continually improving and expanding the production of quality agricultural products for the country and the rest of the world. Megan Dodd, a trainer at GOTAFE, said farming was one of the most rapidly growing industries in Australia and one of the largest employers. “Our industry is rapidly changing and has become driven by digital technologies which enable us to become more sustainable into the future,” Megan said. “It is vitally important for the regional and rural community to have the opportunity to reskill or
upgrade their current skills while staying close to home and in their local community. “Without the financial support offered through the Free TAFE initiative, this would be unachievable for many participants; Free TAFE removes the financial barriers for people who want to upskill and retrain for a career in the food and fibre industries.” Taylor Hamilton is studying a Certificate IV in Agribusiness and Agriculture at GOTAFE, while working part-time on her parents’ organic dairy farm in Tongala. “At GOTAFE, we learn a lot of skills which are needed for farming into the future,” Taylor said. “The teachers are really great and I get along really well with all of them. They are incredibly supportive and I can get help at any time with my classwork if I need it. “We learn a lot about farming for the future and once I am finished my certificate, I am hoping to study software IT at university so I could work somewhere where I can combine software technology with sustainable farming.” GOTAFE offers a range of qualifications in agricultural streams, with many of these courses offered via Free TAFE. Visit GOTAFE at site number sites EB68-EB70 or www.GOTAFE.vic.edu.au to find out more.

SUSTAINABILITY & INNOVATION Innovation. It’s a buzzword that some love to hate. But at its heart, innovation is really all about turning an idea into a solution. It’s Biofilta, a company transforming cities into urban farms with wicking beds made from recycled chip packets. It’s the Bacchus March Seedling Farm, which has changed its range to include household plants among its agriculture selection to please everyone.
It’s Sproutwell Greenhouses, which has turned a difficult product into an easy one by making simple-to-follow instructions for construction. What these businesses have in common isn’t just consumer smarts and a sharp eye for opportunity. It’s the attitude that there is always a new way to look at things.
Armed with that and a resolute desire to succeed, they are among a number of businesses at Seymour Alternative Farming Expo using their creativity to remain relevant and sustainable. So go on, get inspired. You never know what you’ll find, who you’ll meet or what you’ll walk away with. You might even come home with an idea of your own.
‘Seymour Alternative Farming Expo’, February, 2020—PAGE 37
Planting a great idea Australia’s largest online seed store produces up to six million plants every year. A family-owned business set up in 1970, Bacchus Marsh Seedling Farm mainly produces native plants!—!an important food source for local fauna and perfectly suited to the Australian environment. And it’s not just for industry; you can also fill your backyard with greenery at wholesale prices. “Originally we were solely wholesale to farmers and industry and now that’s only a limited season and clientele, so we have moved into retail,” manager Paul Bakx said. At this year’s expo they’ll be showcasing gorgeous crepe myrtles!—!hardy, adaptable and colourful additions to any garden. Located at E18.
Keeping it simple Assembling something from Ikea is simultaneously simple and hellish. So many bits, such unclear instructions and, damn it, a spare screw at the end of the process. Imagine trying to set up a greenhouse with as many parts. The Sproutwell Greenhouse team doesn’t want you to.
Pump it up The company’s Grange range is designed in a way that is super simple to put together, has limited parts and is wind-resistant. Or if that is still too traumatic of a prospect, staff will provide installation Australia-wide. The greenhouses also have an innovative self-watering system and are known for their superior strength and durability. Located at L64A.
PAGE 38—‘Seymour Alternative Farming Expo’, February, 2020
What started out as a windmill business has in recent years made a natural slide toward the next big sustainable alternative – solar pumps. Dean and McCabe Windmills manufactures highly reliable and durable pumps and controllers, that are affordable and designed to withstand our harsh Australian conditions. “Pumps are now the easier option — a lot of people are moving away from windmills,” manager Kelvin Foote said. At the expo, Dean and McCabe will be showcasing mobile solar pump units after calls from customers to make the products towable. “You can tow it on the road, tow it to your bore, put it down the hole and off you go,” Kelvin said. Located at B69.
Such a versatile plant Lavender has literally hundreds of uses. Apart from the pretty smell and vivid hues, it can be cooked, made into furniture polish, used as a soothing and relaxing sleep aide and reimagined as a jam, mustard or tea. For the owners of the little 6"ha Warratina Lavender Farm in the Yarra Valley, lavender is truly a way of life. They’ll have you thinking so too, with their huge range of lavender products, including edible lavender plants that you can grow at home. They have also developed some new products, including a nourishing shampoo and shower gel, which they’ll be debuting at the expo. Located at EB26.
Greening our future There is a huge amount of unused land in cities that could be put to better use. Melbourne company Biofilta is transforming urban concrete jungles into green ones!—!and helping cities become more food-secure along the way. That includes impressive projects like growing 300!kg of food in two car spaces over six months. The company’s latest victory is the Foodcube, a modular wicking bed that has a unique self-watering design, low water use, is moveable, can connect in a series and is made from recycled UV stable plastics, like chip packet film. “What was holding junk food will now be used to grow vegies,” chief executive Marc Noyce said. Located at L56.
Worms love waste Councils are spending big money to dispose of the organic waste collected weekly from your home. It goes to landfill wrapped in the plastic bags where it will produce methane, a dangerous greenhouse gas, for years to come. But there is an affordable, sustainable solution"—"and it’s from worms. A&A Worm Farm Waste Systems provides sustainable urban septic tanks and gives people in areas where there are no waste options an alternative. With very little ongoing costs, low running costs and the ability to reduce organic household waste by up to 90 per cent, there are lots of reasons people are flocking to make the switch. Located at T36.
Keeping chooks happy Chicken treadle feeders have been around for years. But!—!clumsy, expensive and often not waterproof!—!they’ve never really been perfected. Until Chooktred came along. Born out of frustration at not being able to find a chook feeder that really worked, the Chooktred can be used with even the smallest chickens!—!under 1!kg!—!and make sure you’re not treating wild birds and rats to a midday snack. Chooktred Australia has sold 12!000 units in the past 12 years, and really mean it when they say one can last you a lifetime. Located at B25.

FOOD & DRINK The Seymour Alternative Farming Expo is a foodie’s delight. With an action-packed schedule of demonstrations over the three days, there’s no escaping the delicious smells wafting from the Country Kitchen. Secret Garden chef Adrian Hensley will again don his chef hat for the educational and interactive sessions. “It’s a fun event and it’s a little different than everything else,” Adrian said.
“We try and talk on what’s alternative but also what’s in vogue.” Adrian will be joined by Victor Bonacci in the Butcher’s Shop, cooking up the cuts and giving the crowd a chance to taste whatever is on the chopping block. With 20 years’ experience with a cleaver in his hand, the butcher will showcase his skills with range of different meats
including beef, pork and lamb. After a strong introduction at last year’s expo, Meet the Makers is back and bigger than ever"—"with a number of brewers, distillers and winemakers to showcase their goods during happy hour. There will also plenty of options for a refreshing drink or a tasty meal in the Food Court.
‘Seymour Alternative Farming Expo’, February, 2020—PAGE 41
Full of Texan flavour When the first expo visitors walk through the gates the family behind Little Big Man barbecue will have already been slaving over the smoking pit for hours. From the always popular pulled pork and Wagyu cheese burgers to cult hits like beef ribs and briskets, they will be serving up melt-in-your-mouth meats with all the trimmings. Using the low and slow method in a two-tonne, custom-made, wood-fired pit, Bob Usher said the offering would be full of Texan flavour. “We make the best food we can and it’s great to see people’s eyes light up when they eat it,” Bob said. “We’re always happy to talk barbecue, no matter if you’re a beginner or through to competition.” Located at FCB1.
Screaming for ice-cream
The Italian tradition The Meat Room will share the secrets to making salami and sausages. Bringing his Italian flavour to the Butcher’s Shop, James Mele said the demonstrations were about keeping the tradition alive. “Not everyone has the opportunity to go to Italy and taste good salami so we’re bringing it to Australia,” he said. “We’re keen to share our knowledge and help people make a better quality product.” What started as a backyard production has grown into Victoria’s smallest salami maker with an emphasis on quality rather than quantity. See how it is made and taste test the finished product with The Meat Room’s small batch products available for tasting and purchase. Located at L38.
Nose-to-tail approach Victory Meats’ Victor Bonacci is once again heading up the Butcher’s Shop. This year he will be showcasing locally grown Murray Grey beef. Teaming with Murray Grey breeder Steve Koch, who will talk about the breed, Victor will break down a carcase before Adrian Hensley shows the meat’s versatility in the Country Kitchen. “It’s good home-grown, grass-fed cattle,” Victor said. For Victor it is about supporting local farmers, but also sharing the skill of butchery and how to make the most of secondary cuts. “I’m educating people on the use of the animal from nose to tail,” he said. “There are so many different parts of an animal and how they can be used.” Located in the Butcher’s Shop.
PAGE 42—‘Seymour Alternative Farming Expo’, February, 2020
Cool down with a sweet treat at the expo. From honeycomb and mint chocolate chip to salted caramel and white chocolate and raspberry, Scott and Sue Burn will be scooping up Timboon Fine Ice Cream’s famous dessert. Serving ice-cream by the cone and by the cup, Scott said traditional milkshakes and natural sparkling soft drinks would also be available. “The ice-cream is all home-made on the farm down in Timboon with milk from the local dairy farmers,” he said. “We use all ecofriendly cups, spoons and straws.” Located at FCL6.
Ready, steady, cook From sweet tooths to meat eaters, no-one will leave the Country Kitchen uninspired. Secret Garden chef Adrian Hensley is back again and will cook up an innovative storm. “I like to put a twist on things that might not be in everyone’s regular repertoire,” Adrian said. “This year there will be a focus on smoking, with hams and bacon and American-style briskets and ribs.” Adrian will also create a true blue Aussie burger combining Vegemite,
pumpkin, beetroot and kangaroo. His interactive demonstrations will cover how to make sourdough bread from culture to the finished product, make Danish pastries from scratch and how to master the stretching technique used to make traditional apple strudel. Meanwhile, doughnuts will be on the menu in the ever-popular kids in the kitchen session, with Adrian’s daughter Lila ready to put on her chef’s hat. Located in the Country Kitchen.

A beer education Kick back and enjoy a cold beer brewed using a farm-to-plate approach. Describing themselves as a couple of country lads having a crack, independent brewers Glenn Shearer and Rodney Kuiper with be pouring their Shearasun Brewing beers at the expo. Using no preservatives and all-natural ingredients, Glenn said people always wanted to know more about how they did it. “We go through it step-by-step and we tell the story by tasting,” he said.
MEET THE MAKERS
“We’ve got a West Coast IPA which is Saturday at a citrus IPA and it’s 1.50!pm triple hop so it’s a really fruity summer flavour. “We’ll showcase our pilsner and barrelled ages scotch ale, which is aged in a whisky barrel.” After you buy a pot to enjoy on the day, Glenn guarantees you’ll be back for a six pack or a mixed slab before heading home. Located at FCB7.
Enjoy a cheeky cider An apple (cider) a day Tree changers Jennylyn Abalos and Marc Serafino swapped city life for a Darraweit Guim apple orchard. First harvesting in 2018, Darraweit Valley Cider is a small batch cider house and heritage apple orchard focusing on creating unique and flavoursome blends of cider apples and eating apples. “We’ll be sharing our three ciders at the expo,” Jennylyn said. “It’s not that traditional English or French style but it’s not that too sweet commercial stuff either.” With tastings and takeaways on offer, Jennylyn recommended taking advantage of the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo concierge service which allows to you pick up your cider purchases from the gate on your way home. Located at L36.
Fresh take on gin Even people who don’t like gin, will love the GINFUSION range. With three new flavour combinations to share at this year’s expo, Original Spirit Co director Barbara Richartz said they would be offering tastings to help choose which bottle you would like to take home. “There are other flavoured gins, but we make ours with all-natural ingredients and often fresh ingredients and you can taste it,” Barbara said. “You can enjoy it on the rocks but if you want to drink it as a long drink or a cocktail all you need is soda and your favourite garnish. “Soda really enhances the flavour of the gin.” The craft distillery also has an aged gin barrelled for 12 months, perfect for the whisky drinkers. Located at L37.
These apples might not be pretty enough for the supermarket shelf, but they sure make great cider. A lightbulb moment led third generation apple growers Mark and Jenny Morey to open a Bunbartha cidery to put their second grade fruit to good use. That was almost four years ago; now The Cheeky Grog Co has a range of 14 ciders “Everything is hand processed by us, you can’t get any more local than that,” Jenny said. The Moreys aren’t afraid of a little fun, experimenting with everything and anything they grow. The results"—"some uncommon beverages with some cheeky names, including: Cheeky Cherry, a cider infused with cherries; and Grannies that Pop, a cider champagne. Located at L37A.

Have a chat with a jolly Swagman Swagman Sprayers will return to Seymour after a successful debut in 2019. “Last year we were first-time exhibitors to Seymour and were thrilled with the response to our Swagman sprayers,” Charles Sweeney said. “We are excited to be back this year with our standard range of sprayers as well as two new products. “Horticulturists tell us these battery-powered sprayers have cut their spray time by 70 per cent and gardeners and property owners love how spraying has suddenly become easy.” Charles said the recently launched Swagman Pump Box had been designed due to customer demand. “Farmers we met at field days asked me to develop this new battery-powered universal fluid transfer system,” he said. “It is strongly built, highly portable and attaches to existing water tanks at any location. It will spray
continuously for up to six hours at four litres per minute on a single charge.” While Swagman Sprayers’ newest battery-powered spray unit has been designed specifically for spot firefighting, it has many other applications. “It is designed for comfort and convenience with a flexible 16 to 20!litre knapsack and a beltmounted holster containing the pump and battery,” Charles said. “The unit comes complete with a hose, wand, spotter gun and charger. It produces 75 psi and will spray for up to 1.5 hours on a single charge.” The mainstay in the range is the 16!litre Swagman, now in its sixth generation. Built from best quality, long-life components with all screws, fastenings and wands 304 stainless steel, it is powered by a powerful 12vdc motor and sealed rechargeable battery giving 70 psi at three litres per
minute for up to six hours on a single charge. It is supplied with five spray nozzles, a spray shield and spotter gun. Other models in the range include the enormously popular eight litre sprayer and the 12!litre Swagman sprayers called the Work Mates. Three models serve the various needs of tradespeople such as concrete workers, aircon servicers, pest controllers and carpet cleaners. Charles said the sprayers were a breeze to service. “I have all the spare parts and back the sprayers with personal service,” he said. Head to stand B48 to test a Swagman for yourself or see them in action at www.swagmansprayer.com.au
Charles Sweeney will showcase his Swagman sprayers and launch the new Pump Box and Flexi Swagman at this year’s expo.
New name, same great service Seymour Alternative Farming Expo will be one of the first official outings for Nutrien Ag Solutions, formed after the merger of agricultural business icons Landmark and Ruralco. While the former Landmark Harcourts operation in Seymour has been rebranded with a new name, the service, staff and quality farm equipment and supplies remains the same. Agronomist Emilie Lyons said the team would have an extensive display of Leicht’s CIA cattle handling equipment at the expo, with staff
on hand to answer questions and help farmers find solutions for their individual farms. With prices starting at $5000 there was a configuration to suit hobby farmers right through to commercial enterprises. A selection of cattle crushes, a safety control pen, full set of yards, head bails, and adjustable loading ramps
will be set up and information about custom-order hydraulic systems will be available to interested visitors. Leicht’s CIA equipment is manufactured from Australian steel in its facility at Goombungee near Toowoomba in Queensland and one of the company’s long-serving salesmen John O’Rielly will offer his expert advice at the expo site.
Additional equipment from Gallagher and Tru-Test Livestock Management, which work in tandem with the Leicht’s CIA products to enhance safety for the animals and operators, can also be inspected. These include weighing equipment, identification reader arms, scales and bolt-on platforms. See the team at site number E43

The glamping revolution Farms, wineries and restaurants — all these industries are dependent on seasons, with success often being dictated by the weather.
A machine to suit every farm Once again you will find the Haeusler’s Group’s large range of lifestyle and farming equipment on display at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo. The family-owned business, which has been operating in the Goulburn Valley since 2001, specialises in the John Deere and Wacker Neuson product lines, combining small-end construction, lifestyle and traditional agricultural products. Some of the key items you will find at the Haeusler’s expo site will include the John Deere 1025R Compact Tractor, 6110M Utility Tractor and Wacker Neuson ET18 Excavator. The popular 1 Family from John Deere sees the 1025R
with optional loader, backhoe and mower deck a versatile option for a lifestyle farmer. This American-built tractor comes standard with six-year warranty and its ergonomic design makes an easy transition for those new to the industry. The four-cylinder John Deere 6110M Utility Tractor is a perfect all-rounder for loader work. With 110!hp, a choice of three transmissions, optional suspension and Autotrac
guidance, the 6110M can be customised to suit a range of owners. However if excavation is more your focus, the ET18 from Wacker Neuson introduces the innovative Vertical Dig System (VDS) to the compact excavator range. VDS provides up to 27 per cent inclination providing an upright sitting position for the operator when working on slopes. The expo is a great opportunity to meet the knowledgeable Haeusler’s team. They can be found at site L67 and L68.
Instead, GlamXperience wants to put the success in your hands. In Europe, season-based industries have found an unconventional way to expand, by means of heavyduty canvas. It’s a special kind of canvas — it’s fire-retardant, UVresistant, heavy-duty, weatherproof, long-lasting and made into an eco-friendly glamping tent Glamping, have you heard of it? It’s the mix between ‘glamour’ and ‘camping’ which has been taking over the tourism industry for years now. And it’s starting to make its mark with other industries. GlamXperience says glamping structures are unprecedented in their return on investment. They can pay for themselves within two years and, being in the legal framework of caravans, can avoid some permits. Many businesses like Fleur Stables Horse Farm have seen a great return on investment with returning visitors who otherwise may have never experienced the property. GlamXperience has been helping farmers, wineries and restaurants maximise their profits for more than 10 years worldwide. It’s easy to take advantage of this special kind of canvas!—!venture out and give glamping a go. See the product for yourself a site T41 at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo.
Conquering the elements since 1933 Since its introduction in 1933, the Brahman cattle breed has revolutionised the Australian cattle industry. First developed by crossing thinskinned, heat-tolerant Indian breeds with traditional English cattle, the Australian Brahman as we know it today was developed by northern cattlemen who realised that traditional breeds were unable to withstand the ravages of northern Australia’s cattle ticks, heat and drought. Today, the breed’s influence covers Australia!—!with stud and commercial live cattle exports to many overseas countries, a clear
indication of the breed’s adaptation over a wide spectrum of climatic conditions. The growth and development of the Australian Brahman has been described as the greatest livestock revolution in history. It has transformed the northern beef industry to an efficient and highly profitable enterprise which contributes millions of dollars annually towards domestic and export income. In the more temperate weather
PAGE 48—‘Seymour Alternative Farming Expo’, February, 2020
conditions found in Victoria, Brahman offer improved drought resistance, a boost in production by up to 40 per cent through hybrid vigour and an ability to increase overall herd fertility, milk production and reproductive longevity. More than that, they provide an outcrop in genetics that has the potential to increase stud value. In October 2017, NCC Justified smashed Australian records by selling for $325000, with that single vendor sale averaging $27!000.
2019 proved a highly successful year, with stud bull sales at auction averaging higher than any other breed in the country at just under $10!000. These sales produced a top of $105!000 twice. For more information on how to maximise your herd, email the Australian Brahman Breeders Association at abba@brahman. com.au or visit the Brahman site at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo.
Dive-in to the pool experts Poolwerx Shepparton will have spas and swim spas on display at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo this year. Craig Henry, who has owned the business for five years, said the pools would be in demo mode, so would have lights but no water in them. The Shepparton business will also be bringing some Dolphin pool cleaners. This will be the fourth year the business has exhibited at the expo. “I like the fact that it gets all the outlying areas involved, the markets you don’t normally see,” Craig said. “The biggest thing that has come out of it (exhibiting at the expo) is the recognition that we are about in the area.” Poolwerx sells a vast range of pool equipment and specialises in servicing pools. Pool owners can purchase service packages and, if you are planning
to buy a property with a pool, Poolwerx can carry out pre-purchase inspections to ensure the pool has no major problems. Although there are plenty of local pool installers, many of them do not have a service department — which is where Poolwerx comes in. With a staff of 10 and four service vehicles, the company services pools over a large area and offers in-store repairs to various items of pool equipment. The company also sells Banff spas and Sterns above-ground pools, and is a warranty agent for Astral solid/ fluidra and Maytronics Dolphin pool cleaners. Poolwerx Shepparton will ne located at site L 22.

the late 1970s-80s our product focus seemed to be spreaders suited to spread lime and gypsum,” Colin said.
Colin commenced his apprenticeship in 1968 as a boilermaker, and went on to take over the business six years later.
“We also developed a tubular conveyor called the Seymour Shifter, which features a belt in a tube to convey lentils, peas and fertiliser.”
He said they had experienced a lot of changes over the years since then. “All of which have a had huge impact on the agricultural industry,” Colin said. The Seymour Rural Equipment product range has changed considerably over the journey. “From the early period we focused on granular fertiliser spreaders, then into
In more recent times the business has focused on spreaders suited to viticulture, orchards and horticulture, applying mulch and compost/manure directly to rows/beds. “This is challenging as nearly all equipment needs to be designed and constructed to suit the various applications,” Colin said. “We have a product range of four
concepts of spreaders with extensive carrying capacities, I would suggest we have 50plus in our range. “From narrow row centres for high density vineyards and blueberry plantations through to macadamias, avocado and almonds, we have equipment to deliver product directly to the base of the tree/vine.” Colin said compost was the future in sustainable agriculture. “We built our first compost turner in 1995 and have been slowly building the number of units for nearly 25 years, with now almost 50 Seymourmanufactured units Australia-wide
and now importing a smaller range to suit the small farm applications,” he said. The newest baling technology In 2019, Canadian company Marcrest introduced a new Bale Baron 5000 Series small bale accumulator and revamped its existing 4000 Series.
A redesigned plunger, which gives more compression and better holding during the tie cycle is one important update and the frame has been strengthened to accommodate an optional 4.5-inch cylinder to increase compression even further. Safety enhancements include a wider front stance and standard wide rear tyres to keep the machine firmly planted and the ladder has been attached on a generous angle that makes it safer
to climb up to the knotter. The re-engineered knotter ‘miss-tie’ sensors are easy to see ensuring a sure-fire way to detect when the knotters miss a knot and the upgraded four-lobe knotter sprocket increases the knotter speed by 25 per cent. Easy-to-inspect twine boxes swing out to give full exposure of the compression chamber and hydraulic lines, and the use of nitride-treated pins paired with composite bushings
has eliminated the need for grease nipples on the pivot points. The new Bale Baron 5250 is ISOBUScompatible and can be fullycontrolled and monitored using your tractor’s touchscreen if it’s also fitted with ISOBUS. If it doesn’t ISOBUS screens are available from Marcrest. The 4250 has maintained the same body work and stance as the 4240/4245 but has some of the
important upgrades of the 5250, and has an impressive bundling rate of 800 bales per hour. Both the 5250 and 4250 units are available in pick-up and trailed models. For more information on the latest trailed and self-propelled Bale Barons, phone Matthew Keast on 0427!396!971 or have a look at the Seymour Rural Equipment sites B60-B61.

Toss the pain pills away According to iHealth Saunas, Western civilisation has finally discovered what Eastern medicine has been aware of for centuries. It’s that a sauna can make you feel fantastic — healthier, more energetic and pain-free — and many swear they have been cured of what ails them. iHealth says these are dry saunas that use far-infrared technology that heats your body, not the air you breathe. No more dousing water over hot coals, so that you’re unsure whether you’re sweating or just plain wet. No more taking all that water into your lungs and no more rubbing shoulders with sweaty strangers. You can have your own steam-free sauna at home. iHealth says far-infrared therapy is commonly used by doctors, chiropractors, acupuncturists and massage therapists. It’s even used to incubate premature babies, as well as treat arthritis, joint pain, stiff muscles, injuries to tendons and ligaments, and generally promote faster healing. South Australian Yvonne Whittaker’s GP had been using a far-infrared sauna herself, when Yvonne asked whether an infrared sauna would help with her polymyalgia rheumatica. After three months of using the sauna, Yvonne had ceased drug treatment and regained all function. Far-infrared saunas have also
transformed the lives of the Australian family that designed the iHealth Steam-free Infrared Sauna range. There were quality saunas out there, but you’d be paying for better health with an arm, a leg and possibly the other arm. And there were cheap saunas that looked the part — but they were not electrically certified, were prone to breakdown, required expensive wiring and often failed. So iHealth was formed, and they designed a better sauna that the average Australian could afford and had value-for-money saunas produced to their specifications. And in the unlikely event that there is a problem, they’re right here in Australia. Test out an iHealth Sauna at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo at sites EB81EB82. Australian-made caravans for all needs Whether you’re retired, a family or just want to see the countryside, Donway Caravans will have you sorted. These beautifully crafted vans are designed here in Shepparton and built exclusively by one of Australia’s most trusted caravan companies, Millard Caravans. Boasting features that you won’t find in many other caravans in Australia, such as aluminium frames and hot dip galvanised chassis, means caravanners don’t have to worry about water damage. They also feature 2!m ceiling heights and single piece composite roofs that are strong enough to stand on. “Our exclusive partnership with Millard means that all our caravans are RVMAP-accredited and are also approved to carry the ‘Australian Made’ symbol,” Donway Caravans cofounder Peter Don said. Donway Caravans co-founder Keelan Don also spoke about the benefits of using such a reputable Australian
caravan company. “Although we have our own exclusive range of caravans, we are also a Millard Caravan dealer which allows us to bring on a really exciting new range called the M-Flow to the people of the Goulburn Valley,” Keelan said. “The M-Flow range will be our entry level van and are designed to be more affordable without the compromise of quality, thus helping people enter the caravans market.” Donway Caravans will be at sites L12-L13 at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo, so head down and say hello to the team. Ahead of the competition Extremely easy to handle, surgical-precision movements, rear-mounted radiator, maximum power in the wheels and boom and absolute comfort. These are just some of the reasons why the Dieci Agri Plus 40.7 Telehandler is the most innovative machine in its sector. The Agri Plus 40.7 comes with two transmissions to choose from. The Vario System enables a choice between four work modes, allowing you to find the best speed-to-power ratio under any operating condition. Then there is Power Shift, which gives the option of either a manual or automatic gearbox with six gears forward and three in reverse, along with an inching pedal to ensure maximum power at all operating levels. Unparalleled manoeuvrability with the use of the hydrostatic transmission, combined with the right work mode, will enable easy, precise manoeuvres and an improved stacking performance. The 4-in-1 joystick is standard on all models and enables integral control of the vehicle. The high efficiency steering system transmits a light driving sensation enabling a tight turning radius, which
is the narrowest in its category. The ingenious oscillation system is purposely designed to increase the operation angle, which is particularly important when unloading the bucket with the boom raised.
It also comes standard with side shift and pneumatic suspension system on the boom, which gives a dramatic reduction in the vibrations felt when driving on irregular and uneven surfaces. Dieci has more than half-a-century
of experience and continuous development, allowing it to achieve the perfect machine for every need. Visit the Farm and Diesel team at site L2, to check the machinery out for yourself and get a free quote, or give the team a call on 5432!2583.
Swim into a carefree summer There is nothing more refreshing than having a swim on a hot summer day and when it comes to pools, the staff at Swim Inn Pool Shop are the experts. Serving the Goulburn Valley, the Kyabram-based business is making its sixth appearance at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo. Managing director Brendan Bruhn said Swim Inn Pool Shop was born from a desire to provide customers with the highest standard of quality service, throughout the process of the build and also after their swimming pool was completed. Today, it is a one-stop shop for all pool needs from installation to restoration, with a reputation for its knowledgeable staff and service. “We install fibreglass pools and we also do in-ground liner restorations,” Brendan said. “We have a service division that services all areas.” Brendan said Swim Inn Pool Shop only sold trusted products from companies that backed what they made.
This includes MagnaPool, the only mineral system on the market that is completely salt-free. Brendan said from the very first time you jump into a MagnaPool you can feel the difference. “The water has a gentle, silky feeling against your skin,” he said. “There is no irritation to your eyes and your hair won’t need washing to get rid of that chlorine smell or sticky salt feeling associated with chlorine and saltwater pools. “As well as these benefits, your pool will always be crystal clear and extremely easy to maintain.” When it comes to fibreglass pools, Swim Inn Pool Shop trusts Aqua Technics. “They have a strong reputation for a high-quality product and they back this by offering a market-leading lifetime structural warranty,” Brendan said.

Brendan has more than 20 years’ experience in restorations.
Swim Inn Pool Shop has also been selling Maytronics Dolphin Supreme Robotic Cleaners for more than five years, installing the flagship M400 wall-climbing robot on almost every pool it has sold. Come and see the Swim Inn Pool Shop team at site number T28.
