Sampling Systems The IEDCO sampler is designed to use a Volkmann pneumatically powered vacuum pump, capable of pulling nearly a full vacuum, to transfer a sample of product to a convenient location, typically within fifteen feet or so. However, we can also provide larger tube sizes for the increased transfer distances. The sampling system is completely pneumatic. There are no moving parts so it is inherently safe and very easy to use.. The operation of the system is quite simple. A special spool piece is installed in the process chute. A machined shaft is extended into the product flow and a cavity is filled with the falling powder. The shaft retracts and the sample is vacuumed from the cavity via an air driven vacuum pump. The product sample is drawn to a sample jar where it “drops out”. The air and any small amount of dust continue through a primary filter and then to a final HEPA filter, on which the pump is mounted.
General Specifications The control panel is completely pneumatic (electrical options are available) and provides for the automatic sequencing of all functions with adjustable timers to meet the needs of the specific sampling application. The total sampling size is adjusted by the number of cavity fills and the controls permit the recycling of the sequence for this purpose. With each sampling system, we provide the following: Sampler spool piece (up to 10” diameter), sampling shaft and cylinder, intake filter and clamps. Sample Jar and Primary Filter Assembly Ten (10) sample jars, with gaskets Vacuum Pump and HEPA filter assembly, requiring 12.5 scfm @ 87 psi of compressed air. Mounting bracket for Pump/Filter assembly Control panel, all pneumatic, in Nema 4X, plastic enclosure Conveying tubing and connectors.
