Motivates youth to achieve their potential Challenges youth to be the best that they can be Teaches youth that they do make a difference The Trust is a dynamic organisation with an experienced team dedicated to helping young people to help themselves. Our long-term associations and partnerships with Government and Community agencies continue to support a shared belief in the value of all young people.
All Malcam Charitable Trust Programmes incorporate a challenging recreation component to promote personal wellbeing and healthy lifestyles. Challenging recreation provides a chance for young people to learn to know themselves, extend their limits, develop trust in one another and build confidence. Qualified instructors support our groups to make full use of the wealth of recreational opportunities in our region.
Trust Programmes include a significant community service component that helps young people to learn about, use and appreciate community resources, and encourages them to develop, support and maintain these resources for the enjoyment of the wider community. To date the trust has contributed over 350,000 hours of work to the community which has allowed our young people to make a visible difference and learn traditional community values.
Young people can begin at any level to improve their learning skills from basic communication to specialised training. Highly trained and experienced staff can offer a full range of educational activities that are targeted specifically to the needs of the ‘at risk’ group of young people we deal with. These can be as basic as learning to cook, how to use a washing machine, rent accommodation to literacy and numeracy skills.
