The four-door eco-car is Honda's 10th model and second eco-car in the Thai market this year after the Japanese carmaker returned to full strength eight months ago, setting a new record for models in the Thai automotive industry. Honda's plants in Thailand were heavily damaged by floods late last year. Pitak Pruittisarikorn, an executive vice-president of Honda Automobile (Thailand), said the Brio Amaze was a collaboration between Japanese and Thai engineers at Honda's Asia-Pacific research and development centre.

The car is targeted at those seeking to take advantage of the government's first-time car buyer programme. The four-cylinder, 16-valve, 90-horsepower petrol engine of the Brio Amaze offers fuel consumption of 20 kilometres per litre, meeting the Euro 4 fuel economy standard. Safety features include a G-Con steel body structure, anti-lock braking system and electronic brake distribution. An intelligent i-SRS for the driver and an SRS airbag system for the passenger in all models conforms to UN Economic Commission for Europe standards for protection from side and front impact. Customers under the first-time car buyer scheme who reserve a Brio Amaze by year-end will be eligible for a tax rebate of 65,000 to 73,000 baht.
