NATIONAL HOLOCUST MONUMENT OTTAWA, CANADA
Studio Daniel Libeskind
The National Holocaust Monument, established through the National Holocaust Monument Act by the Government of Canada, will ensure a permanent, national symbol that will honor and commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and recognize Canadian survivors. The Monument will stand on a .79 acre site at the intersection of Wellington and Booth Streets within the historic LeBreton Flats in Ottawa, symbolically located across from the Canadian War Museum.
The Monument is organized with two physical ground planes that are differentiated by meaning: the ascending plane that points to the future; and the descending plane that leads visitors to the interiors spaces that are dedicated to contemplation and memory. Six triangular concrete forms provide specific program areas within the Monument: the interpretation space that features the Canadian history of the Holocaust; three individual contemplation spaces; a large central gathering and orientation space; and the towering Sky Void that features the eternal Flame of Rememberance, a 14 meter-high form that encloses the visitor in a cathedral-like space and frames the sky from above.

Construction of stage one of the Valley Line LRT will connect Mill Woods to downtown Edmonton with about 13 km of light rail transit. This stage includes 11 stops, an elevated station incorporating a transit centre and Park & Ride, and a transfer point to the existing LRT at Churchill Square. The Valley Line is different from the type of LRT Edmonton now operates. The Valley Line features new, lowfloor, urban-styled vehicles that will provide more pedestrian-friendly access at street level stops. And, in residential and commercial areas, embedded tracks will be integrated to the established design and traffic flow of the area.

INTEGRATIVE ELEGANCE WEST SOHO, NEW YORK CITY
Hina Jamelle/Pratt Initue/ Fall 2013
Being adjacent to a mixed use district with a combination of residential, office and leisure makes the Soho area a good candidate for change. The area is primarily industrial and lackes key elements needed for a well balanced neighborhood. Our goal is to creat a Catalyst that fills this gap. The vertical element both brings together the residentts of the building and also acts as a vertical neighborhood serving the people in the surronding areas. By introducing this new typology we will catalyze this rapid change and make it more desirable for the new residents. This flexible space changes as it moves throughout the building; changing shape so that can function more efficiently.
GOWANUS HOUSING BROOKLYN, NEW YORK Carlos Anaiz/Pratt Initue/ Fall 2012 In this design studio we focused on the contemporary urban condition. Specifically we introduced to the interrelationships between urban form land and building use transportation and environment. Looking at the site and considering the presence of the Gowanus canal, I started to thinking about having a small water treatment facility which has accompanied an oyster farm and small green house greenhouse and planted filtration swales, in order to threat the water.

MARAGHEH OBSERAVATORY MARAGHEH, IRAN Vda Borazjani/Azad University of Tehran/ Fall 2010
The site of this project is near the remains of the Maragheh observatory in Iran and I choose this subject in order to resurrect the memory of this observatory. The astronomy museum is an earthy space by considering the modern architecture methods, in order to understand sky.My first objective was to consider the pre memory of the site and inspire the respectful feelings to visitors by designing the installation in lower height and in some sections in the ground. My second objective was to consider the site topography and main lines and the extent of the most noticeable angles in astronomy science, in order to reach to a proper form for the museum and research center main form.
TESLA SHOWROOM A CAR SHOWROOM IN HONG KONG, CHINA Stephanie Bayard/Pratt Institue/ Spring 2013 Ardavan Arfaei/ Maryam Delshad/ Camilo valencia
Located on Hong Kong’s old airport runway and at the end of the new proposed ferry terminal the site had great potential for the new Tesla electric car showroom. Looking at the Hong Kong bay and sitting right next to the ferry terminal it will both serve Hong Kong residents and tourists arriving at the ferry terminal. The monorail line also creates the connection to the rest of public transpprt system. By tapping directly to the monorail we can bring lots of both clients and casual visitors to the building.
