I am honored to serve as the MDNA President. I want to thank FH Machinery for supporting me as I perform my duties as your association President. I am also forever grateful to my loving wife and family for all their support in this endeavor.
I started in this industry 22 years ago and immediately saw the value in participating in the MDNA. I knew, from the get-go, that my involvement in the MDNA would mean opportunities for FH Machinery. And I can tell you firsthand that this is 100% accurate.
I want to thank my predecessor, MDNA Past President Craig L. Ward, for being an awesome mentor, leader, and friend. His guidance, along with that of MDNA Past President John Greene, was inspirational, educational, and thorough. And thanks to them and FH Machinery owner Harry Glaeser, I have the tools necessary to lead this association for the next two years.
Thanks to the aforementioned Presidents, the MDNA is as strong financially as we have been in years!
My goals are simply to continue their great work, keep the ship steady and continue to get more members involved in the action.
With our strategic partners, Machine Hub, our subsidiary LOCATOR Service is successfully providing marketing and inventory management products that can help you in your chosen trade.
The sale of the office building, consolidated staff, and the use of contracted accounting services continue to be a formula that benefits us both economically and in member service. We have an incredible staff at headquarters with Mark Robinson, Joyce Fitzgerald, and Jason Baker, and they are there to support you with any questions that may arise. We have awesome MDNA and AMEA websites that are user- and mobile-friendly as well as a very robust social media presence.
Our membership remains steady, and coming up this fall, we have some exciting events already on the books, including a Tri-Chapter meeting hosted by Machinery Values and a Southern Regional Chapter meeting in beautiful Ashville, NC. There will also be more upcoming chapter events, so be sure to check the MDNA Calendar of Events at www.mdna.org regularly. Looking farther ahead to the spring of 2024, we will be holding another great Weekend With The Pros. So, take a page from my playbook and get involved. Attend as many MDNA events as possible. I guarantee it will benefit your business financially! And who knows- maybe you will be a future MDNA President.

MDNA has awarded, sparingly its highest honor, the MDNA Lifetime Achievement Award. Past recipients include: Harvey S. Eisen (1994), Austin D. Lucas (2002), John Conroy (2013), Jeannine Harris (2015) and Jack Boecher (2018). The Lifetime Achievement Award is given, as the name implies, to honor a lifetime of achievements and contributions to MDNA and the used machinery industry. While tradition has been that this award has been given to an individual that has retired, or is close to retirement from MDNA service, this is not necessarily the rule.
JR Kraemer’s Company joined the MDNA in 1989. And JR immediately got involved. His service began in 1990, as the Secretary of the Milwaukee/Minneapolis Chapter and continued nonstop, ultimately being elected and serving with distinction as MDNA President in 2005-2007. Along the way and after his presidency he served in every committee and capacity imaginable.
JR shared the following quote:
“I was shocked and surprised to receive the MDNA’s Lifetime Achievement Award at this Year’s Convention. The magnitude of the honor is not lost to me, and I thank everyone that was involved in my selection. Of special significance was that my family was in attendance including my 9-year-old grandson who thought it was cool.
It has been my great pleasure to serve this fine organization. I have had wonderful experiences while traveling the country and the world for the Locator and MDNA and most importantly made lifelong friends and business partners.”
Terry Yoder was honored by receiving the Jean A. Harris Sr. Award. Kristine Conroy, President of the Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund, presented the award to Terry. She recognized Terry’s support of the Scholarship Fund by his efforts to have Board members join him in contributing to the Fund. Terry has initiated fund raising at the Board and Chapter levels and held an auction at Weekend with the Pros to benefit the students. He continues to set an example of giving and establishing Trusts as a lasting legacy of support of the Fund.
Terry is not one to seek recognition and was surprised and honored by the award. He thanked his family for their support and the award nominating committee for their recognition. He concluded by saying “all of his support and contributions were done with love for the ADLSF and the MDNA.” On reflecting on this award Terry shared that “My wife was the light in my deepest darkest hours and the real force behind all of my efforts and successes.”
This is only the second time this award has been given. The first recipient was Harris Machine Tools in 2017. Terry Yoder has demonstrated the philanthropic spirit of Jean A. Harris Sr.
The Jean A. Harris Sr. Award was named in honor of longtime MDNA Member Jean A. Harris Sr. Mr. Harris was a dedicated and invaluable Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund Trustee and additionally served on the Convention Committee for many years. In both roles, he excelled in fund-raising and always led by example, ensuring that Harris Machine Tool Inc. was a generous supporter of both the Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund and MDNA Conventions. This award is given in recognition of outstanding philanthropic contributions or efforts on behalf of the Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund and or the MDNA. This award may be given to individuals or companies.

For the first time ever the MDNA has presented two Leadership Awards at the same time. Both Tim Cromwell, CEA and Doris Toronyi, CEA have exhibited the leadership qualities to make them deserving of this honor. The award recognizes exemplary and extraordinary leadership qualities demonstrated by a current member of the MDNA Board of Directors, Locator Services Inc., or AMEA Board of Directors who have made significant contributions to the association or one of its subsidiaries.
Tradition has been that the award is given to an individual that, while having already made significant contributions to the association or its subsidiaries in a leadership role, and are poised to go on to even greater service to MDNA.
Rising star Tim Cromwell, CEA loves the MDNA and it shows through his work as the Philadelphia Chapter Chairman and through his participation and leadership on the National Board and its three major committees, Membership, Public Relations and Chapter Leadership. He was deeply appreciative in receiving the Leadership Award and thanked his very vibrant and robust committee members for making him look good.
Doris Toronyi, CEA earned her Leadership Award for work as a member of the AMEA’s Board of Directors. She is currently First Vice President. The presentation to Doris included a bit of trickery concocted by two of her biggest fans, AMEA Past President John Lawton and AMEA President David D. DiBenedetto. The presentation unfolded with Doris on the podium during this year’s MDNA Annual Meeting conducting other business when asked to stay for a moment by David, who then presented her with the Leadership Award.
During her impromptu remarks she was very grateful for the award and only wish her husband Brian could have made the trip to Tucson to witness the moment. At which point John standing nearby showed Doris that he was not using his phone to take pictures but was instead Face Timing with Brian, back in North Carolina so he could in fact witness the special moment.
Doris added, "Receiving this award from my MDNA and AMEA colleagues, who are more like family, was unexpected and amazing. Both myself, and my husband Brian, feel blessed and thankful to be a part of these outstanding organizations."
The Distinguished Award was named in honor of former MDNA/MIS President Earl Elman on May 27, 1989. The Earl Elman Distinguished Service Award is to be presented sparingly, and as appropriate. It should not conflict with or detract from the Randolph K. Vinson Award. This award is given to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to MDNA and the used machinery industry.
Most of you know Bob Yeoman and Yeoman Machinery. But you may not know the Bob who serves on the AMEA and MDNA Boards of Directors. Bob is one of the most attention to detail members of our boards. And this trait has a huge benefit to the two organizations in his role as AMEA Treasurer and MDNA Director-at-Large, serving on the Finance Committee.
Bob was nominated for this award and presented this award by MDNA Treasure John Taucher and MDNA First Vice President Dan Wheeler, at this year’s Convention. It came as a huge surprise to no one, except Bob! Who, for probably the first time in his life was completely speechless. When he gathered his composure he did thank his wife Laura, who was also in on the secret well before the event.
