The Standard of Excellence Comprehensive Band Method is a highly successful performance-centered band method, and it is used in hundreds of band programs worldwide. The full series consists of Books 1, 2, and 3 and which combine a strong performance-centered approach with music theory, music history, ear training, listening, composition, improvisation, and interdisciplinary and multicultural studies. The result is the most complete band method available anywhere!

Pirates of the Caribbean

Disney’s adventure film was a “must-see” for audiences of all ages and part of the wide spread appeal was the outstanding musical score. Michael Sweeney has adapted the film score for young ensembles with this well-paced medley that captures the most dramatic moments from the original soundtrack.

The magical sound of Deus Flutes brings uplifting and memorable melodic lines, rich harmonic scoring and spine-tingling suspensions make this work a joy to learn and to listen to. Currently residing in Austin, TX, Paul Baker’s career as a composer, saxophonist, educator and clinician has covered a wide variety of musical genres from jazz, film, TV and R&B to Broadway. He has performed in venues from the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles to the Village Vanguard in New York City to jazz festivals across Europe. He has composed and arranged films, theater, jazz bands of all sizes and levels, and computer games.

Under the Sea

“Under the Sea” is a song from Disney’s 1989 animated film The Little Mermaid, composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman. It is influenced by the calypso style of the Caribbean which originated in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as reggae, which originated in Jamaica. The song was performed in the film by Samuel E. Wright. The track won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1989, the first for a Disney film since “Chim Chim Cher-ee” from Mary Poppins in 1964. Additionally, the song won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media in 1991.
