Have a howling good time at this year’s Halloween Harvest featuring tricks, treats, and more! This family fun event is the perfect way for kids to enjoy a great time in a safe environment. The afternoon will be spent playing games, journeying through the Halloween maze, and showing off costumes.
Enjoy a variety of activities at the 15th annual Founders Day Celebration. The whole family will enjoy arts and crafts, interactive performances, games, shows, outstanding talent and much more!
Parking will be located at the Harbour Centre on the corner of 29 Avenue and NE 188 Street. Shuttle service to the Community Recreation Center will be provided.
Veterans Day Thursday, November 11, 2010 10 AM Government Center 19200 West Country Club Drive Calling all veterans! The City of Aventura will be recognizing and remembering all the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces. Enjoy a tour of this famous culinary college preparing students for rewarding careers in this competitive field. The students will then create an exciting lunch for us at the Tropibleu Restaurant, located at the college. Price includes round-trip transportation from the Aventura Mall parking lot to Miramar, culinary college tour, lunch, and all gratuities. Lunch will consist of caesar salad, entrée, dessert, tea or coffee or soft drink. You will need to choose your entree and dessert. Special songs include Mame, It’s Today, Open a New Window, If He Walked Into My Life, We Need a Little Christmas, Bosom Buddies and That’s How Young I Feel. Price includes round-trip transportation from the Aventura Mall parking lot to Lauderhill/Coral Springs, orchestra seat, lunch, and all gratuities. MAHJONGG MANIA
Jump on the bandwagon and learn how to play this popular card game. Students will be introduced to the rules of the game and learn the tricks to assist in winning. Students will also have the opportunity to practice what they have learned during the class. Please note: You must be a City of Aventura Community Recreation Center member to participate. Registration is required.
Learn about the basic computer concepts and terminology. This class introduces the fundamentals of Windows XP and software such as: Microsoft Word and Excel. This is a great class for first time users.
Join other members as they spend the afternoon playing this popular tile game. Mahjongg is a game of skill, strategy, intelligence calculation and luck. Players will need a game card to participate. Improve your strength, flexibility, and overall body in this introductory yoga class. Bring a mat, a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothes.
A cross between Tai Chi, Yoga, Pilates and Martial Arts. Body sculpting requires specific/ intense muscle contraction and control. Similar to power Yoga in its use of pose, concentration and balance. “Sculpting” focuses on deep breathing, low heart rate, low impact, hydration and basic movement.

This year-round club is designed to teach children about the Hebrew culture. Children will experience Hebrew reading and writing, mitzvoth, holiday and bible stories. Supervision Children under the age of 13 must be registered in a program or under adult supervision to use the facility. The Community Recreation Center does check to make sure your child is the appropriate age prior to entering the facility. Parents or guardians will be contacted if your child is not of age to use the facility. In addition, your child will wait for your arrival in the lobby. Please do not drop off your child and leave them unsupervised. City of Aventura Membership & ID Cards All new or renewed memberships must be a Miami-Dade County resident and show proof of residency. All members need an active membership and an ID card to register for the Aventura Community Recreation Center classes. Six and three month memberships are also available. Personal Data Update Please update your mailing address, household and emergency contact information with the Aventura Community Recreation Center or Founders Park to confirm that we have accurate information. Gymnasium Usage When the Aventura City of Excellence School is in session, the gymnasium is not available. Please refer to the monthly gymnasium calendar for open gym times. You can obtain a calendar at the Community Recreation Center or online at www.cityofaventura.com. Class Information Registration for classes is on a first-come first-serve basis. Members can register online or in person. Once a class has met maximum enrollment, a waitlist will be created. Classes with no fee tend to fill up quickly, so please register early. Classes must meet the minimum enrollment. Participants will be notified prior to the first day of class ONLY if the class has been cancelled. The Community Recreation Center staff will not notify participants if minimum enrollment has been met.

Appropriate attire shall be worn at all times. Valid identification must be displayed upon entering the Center. Proper courtesy, conduct, and language are expected from members and their guests at all times. Members shall comply with all instructions from Center staff. Members shall sign in for use of the technical center, gymnasium and fitness center. Guests are welcome when accompanied by a member and when the proper guest fees have been paid. Members are responsible for the behavior and actions of their guests. All classes, programs and events, unless otherwise designated, are for members only. Membership may be suspended or revoked for improper conduct or language towards others, including Center staff. The City is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please use the lockers located in the restrooms near gymnasium to secure your personal valuables. Lockers are for temporary use only. For security reasons, all lockers will be emptied nightly and the contents will be discarded. Food and drink are permitted in designated areas only. Courtesy phones are available to members and their guests. Extended calls are not permitted. Any person under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted in the Center or on the grounds. Smoking is not permitted in the Center.

Resident registration starts on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 8:30 AM. You can register online at www.cityofaventura.com or at the Community Recreation Center, 3375 NE 188 Street. US mail registrations are accepted and require individual checks for each activity. DO NOT SEND CREDIT CARD NUMBERS OR CASH VIA MAIL. Non-resident registration (pending availability) starts on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 8:30 AM at the Community Recreation Center. Please note that all trips will be taken on a 32 passenger bus. In the event that an additional bus is added, the second bus will be a 20 passenger bus and the seating will be determined in the order of registration.
CITY OF AVENTURA ID CARDS All participants need an ID card to register for our Cultural Arts, Theater and Leisure Program. Please call the Aventura Community Recreation Center at 305466-3883 to obtain a card. PERSONAL DATA UPATES Please check in with the Community Services Department at 305-466-8930 to confirm that we have accurate mailing address, household and emergency contact information. In addition, if Aventura is your seasonal residency and you want to receive program information at a second address, please provide your alternate address to the Community Services Department. PARTICIPANTS REQUIRING PERSONAL ASSISTANCE The City is in full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which requires that all public services and facilities be as reasonably accessible to persons with disabilities as those without disabilities. The City does not provide personal services such as medical or attendant care. If you wish to attend a City program and you require medical or attendant care or require the assistance of licensed or certified personnel, it is the participant's responsibility to bring an aide or other qualified person. If you are a person with a disability who needs assistance in order to participate in a program or service of the City and would like additional information, please contact the City at 305-466-8930.
It is your responsibility at the time of registration to select a meal and request your seating preference. Special dietary arrangements need to be requested at the time of registration. Seating requests cannot be guaranteed.

Persons with disabilities requiring accommodations in order to participate must contact the Community Services Department at least 48 hours in advance of trip departure. Most theaters issue hearing devices upon request. Reserved seating is provided only to participants using crutches, walkers, wheelchairs or medical devices.
It is recommended that participants dress accordingly for the environment of the trip. Proper footwear is recommended for the moderate and maximum walking trips, a sweater is recommended for air conditioned environments and an umbrella is recommended for outdoor excursions.
SALES TAX All appropriate sales tax is included in the pricing.
The City of Aventura has a no refund policy. Credits will only be considered if a replacement is available from the waiting list.

City Park Guide General Park Rules
Pets are not permitted. Golf activities, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, and open fires are not permitted. Residents must show a valid ID. Unauthorized organized athletics are not permitted.
Maximum bathing load: 137 persons. Resident ID card required . 1 guest per household. Shower before entering. Do not drink the feature water. No food, drink, glass, or animals on the SplashPad or surrounding deck. No running or rough play. Report all accidents to park staff immediately. Any bather with a skin disease, open wounds, nasal or ear discharge, inflamed eyes, diarrhea or any communicable disease will not be allowed to enter the SplashPad area. All children under 4 or not toilet trained are required to wear swim pants or swim diapers. Cotton or disposable type diapers are not permitted. Diaper changing stations are located in restrooms. Children should be escorted by an adult to and from the restrooms. Use the SplashPad at your own risk. The City of Aventura is not responsible for accidents, injuries, or lost or stolen items. Smoking and the use of all tobacco products is prohibited. In the event of inclement weather, or if the lightning predictions system activates, the SplashPad will be closed until weather conditions permit. Appropriate swimsuits are required. No thongs, cutoffs, buckles or belts are permitted. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult over eighteen years old. Water shoes or water appropriate footwear is recommended. Please do not hang towels or clothing on fence. Water toys of any type are not permitted.
The City of Aventura reserves the right to refuse entry, or to have a patron removed from the SplashPad at the sole discretion of City staff.

Resident ID cards are issued to Aventura residents to obtain access to City parks. The following documents are acceptable forms for proof of residency - Valid picture ID, Voters Registration Card, Current Utility Bill, Mortgage Deed or Lease. Resident ID cards can be created at the Community Recreation Center, Waterways Park, and Founders Park.

Park users and dog owners assume all risks when using the dog park. Owners shall keep their dog leashed at all times while outside of the fenced-in area and shall keep a leash in hand at all times within the fenced-in area. All dogs must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. All dogs must wear collars at all times with current registration and rabies vaccination tags. Aggressive dogs are not permitted and will be asked to leave the park. Due to potential problems, un-neutered male dogs may be asked to leave the park. Owners shall be responsible for the behavior and actions of their dogs and shall closely supervise them at all times. Owners shall close all gates when entering and exiting the park and shall clean up after their dogs. Female dogs in heat are not permitted in the park. For safety reasons, no children under the age of 12 are permitted unless accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. Please fill holes immediately. Outdoor fires or barbeques are not permitted. When the lightning warning system activates with one 15 second horn blast, the park will be closed and all park patrons and dogs must leave the park until the “all clear” is signaled by three 5 second horn blasts.
