2020 Missions | Global Teams

We believe that Disciples of Jesus demonstrate God’s love through acts of service in our neighborhoods and all over the world.

Missions are transformative, and it is impossible to return home unchanged. Serving alongside others and seeing injustice in our world fosters a need to tell the story of our experience and expose the issues affecting our neighbors. If you are prepared to say yes, God will use you to change lives, build the Church, and impact communities around the world. Missions are part of the faith journey of the entire church, not just those who are physically able to make the journey. There’s a place for anyone to become active in missions by serving on a team, giving generously to missions, and most importantly, supporting our teams and those they serve with prayer.

We hope you’ll plan to join us at either of the following interest meeting for 2020 mission trips. You can meet team leaders, find out information on what it’s like to serve on a mission team, details about each mission team, and more! We hope to see you there.

Puerto Rico Interest Meeting: February 3 | 6 PM | Room D101

Trip Dates: April 25 – May 2

The island of Puerto Rico continues to recover from Hurricane Maria, which made landfall on the island September 20, 2017. Volunteer efforts are now focused on recovery and permanent rebuild/repair. A primary task has been repairing or replacing damaged roofs and building to higher standards of storm resistance. MDUMC volunteers will help with repairs and rebuild projects on multiple homes during the week. Please contact our team leader at KellyVicente@mdumc.org for more information or to RSVP for the meeting.

Belize Interest Meeting: February 20 | 6 PM | Room D202

Trip Dates: Summer 2020

A new mission trip we are introducing in 2020 will be to San Pedro, Belize serving with Hope Haven, which is the only children’s shelter on the island housing abused, neglected, or orphaned children. Our team will be providing help with building projects, serving meals, and hosting day excursions for the children at the Hope Haven house. Members will also help with the construction of new homes damaged by recent hurricanes for reunited Hope Haven families. For more information on how you can join this team, please contact LindaJenkins@mdumc.org.
