Congratulations! You have made it to November. 2020 has been a challenging year, but you made it. Many may feel like it’s been a hard-fought battle. You may feel winded, wounded, or worried. However, November has this magical way of moving our attention to the things we are thankful for, and there is power in thankfulness.
Being thankful has a powerful impact on our physical and mental health. Health experts report that grateful people are typically healthier than other people. Their thankfulness motivates them to take care of themselves, exercise, eat right, etc. Experts also tell us that gratitude reduces a multitude of toxic emotions, from envy and resentment to frustration and regret.
I encourage you to stop for a moment and count your blessings. Focus on what is right here instead of what is over there. Author and educator William Arthur Ward said, “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”
So, go practice an attitude of gratitude and live a thankful life this season. It might just change your life and the lives of others around you.
