Immediate arrest made in stolen vehicle case On Monday, Dec. 13 at 2:18 a.m., deputies responded to the 8200 block of Ferrill Court for a reported stolen vehicle. Once on scene, deputies immediately relayed the description of the stolen vehicle to patrol units in the area. Shortly after, a deputy located a vehicle matching that description on Lee Davis Road. A traffic stop was initiated and it was determined that this was in fact the reported stolen vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by five individuals, all of whom were from Virginia
Beach. Based upon the investigation that followed, all five individuals were identified, arrested and transported to Pamunkey Regional Jail. Four adults and one juvenile were charged with the following: Chance Josiah Evans, 22. Charge: Grand Larceny (F) Davione Charles Badgett, 23. Charge: Grand Larceny (F) Jawan Taki Johnson, 19. Arrest made in possession of child pornography case HANOVER – The Hanover County Sheriff ’s Office has arrested and charged a Mechanicsville man with possession of child pornography. On Monday, Dec. 13, sheriff’s office investigators, acting on a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, executed a residential search warrant in the 8000 block of Christopher Paul Drive. After executing the search warrant and collecting evidence, Derek Lee Short, 47, of Mechanicsville, was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography (F). Short is currently being held at Pamunkey Regional Jail with no bond. This case remains under investigation. Anyone with further information about this case is asked to contact the Hanover County
