Arrest made in attempted homicide

A 22-year-old Richmond woman has been charged with attempted murder in the case of a woman who was stabbed multiple times.

On Monday, Feb. 6, Ha nover County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 9000 block of Shelly Drive for a disturbance. Once deputies arrived on scene they determined that an individual had forced entry into the home and assaulted one of the residents.

Ortega transported by Hanover Fire-EMS to VCU Medical Center. Thankfully, she is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspect, Alexis Tanya Ortega, 22, of Richmond, was located by deputies still inside the residence and was immediately taken into custody. Ortega has since been charged with the following crimes: attempted murder, breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, malicious wounding and assault of law enforcement. This was an isolated incident and is believed to be domestic in nature.

Ashland man dies after 2-vehicle crash

A 29-year-old Ashland man was killed Saturday as a result of a two-vehicle crash in Hanover County.
