n eco-friendly lifestyle is anything but selfless, as such a way of life can pay both immediate and long-term dividends, helping men and women in the present day while also contributing to healthier futures for generations to come. Even mealtime at home can be made considerably eco-friendlier with relatively little effort.

Men and women who dread having to hand wash their dishes after a nice meal have an ally in science. A study from researchers in Europe found that people who hand washed place settings for 12 people

used as much as 27 gallons of water, while washing the same amount of place settings in a dishwasher required just four gallons of water. So instead of standing over a sink and washing dishes by hand each night, you can simply load up the dishwasher, making sure only to run it when it’s full so even less water is wasted.

When you hire a moving company, it is important to understand what services the firm can and cannot provide. At Two Men and a Truck – Canada, we pride ourselves on accommodating our clients in every possible way. But there are some requests that pose problems. There are 10 common issues that most movers won’t do, or are forbidden to do by law.

Gas-powered items such as lawn mowers that are not emptied of fuel cannot be moved by your moving company. This is in accordance with Ontario’s Health and Safety Act and Hazard Materials Act. The law prohibits us from transporting these types of goods.

Many movers, including our company, have their own guidelines about this. Securing plants takes a level of special treatment that we are not prepared to offer. If customers need advice on how to move plants, we can help them find companies that are equipped to do so. In our

3 ways to create a

chic and cozy living room

he living room is a primary gathering spot for relaxing and entertaining with family and friends. Create a contemporary and cozy space for lounging that is chic yet livable. Sharon Grech, Benjamin Moore colour and design expert, shares three ways to create the ultimate space.

Create rhythm

Living rooms are often open to other areas of the home, which can make it challenging to select a colour palette that will work with adjacent rooms. Using different shades of the same colour is an effective way to define the area. “Deeper colours can bring coziness, which is ideal for the living room. Choose a stronger colour for living rooms paired with a neutral, or paler version for connecting spaces. A deep grey like Kendall Charcoal HC-166 pairs well with a lighter shade like Metropolitan AF-690.”

Think beyond the walls

Consider painting furniture, window trims or ceilings in a bolder colour if your walls are neutral. Opting for neutral hues throughout the space with bolder or deeper hues to emphasize millwork, ceilings and window framing will create a feeling of harmony throughout your home. “Be sure to use appropriate premium quality products when painting these surfaces,” says Grech. For example, premium paints like Benjamin Moore Regal Select would be ideal for painting ceilings.
