VISUAL MINUTES – TRAINING & WORKSHOPS Where words can fail us, listening for and visualising key ideas, themes and narratives can release creativity in a room, helping a group to focus on what is really important and making complex ideas and situations easier to engage with. As people see their speech recorded they feel valued and encouraged to contribute further. Emerging imagery allows a group to draw comparisons, make connections and build new and shared mind maps. The practice of visualisation can be used to improve teamwork, communication and decision making, to plan work and build engagement.
‘Put down that Smartphone; pick up that crayon. Employees at a range of businesses are being encouraged by their companies to doodle their ideas and draw diagrams to explain complicated concepts to colleagues. Companies such as Facebook Inc. are incorporating whiteboards, chalkboards and writable glass on all sorts of surfaces to spark creativity. More and more companies are holding training sessions to teach employees the basics of what’s known as visual note taking.’ WSJ.com

THE ‘SCHOOL OF UNKNOWING’ & ‘THE 11TH HOUR’ In our work we meet many people with amazing stories to tell, extraordinary experiences, dreams and interesting, incisive questions to share. We run several events each year to see what happens when you gather these people in one place.
Our Events: • T he School of Unknowing: is an adventurous, inward bound programme designed to challenge the validity of strongly held beliefs, perceptions, and accepted wisdom. Each programme is unique because participants generate their own set of challenges and questions. Usually focussed on the art of personal and organisational change, a School of Unknowing develops imagination, initiative, creativity and courage. Topics which have been covered in previous schools are: > Leadership ,Teamwork, Quality, Truth Trust and Teamwork, Customer Relations, Supplier Relations, Internal Communication, Personal and Organisational Transformation, Communication and Culture Change, Effective Meetings, The Art of Change, Creativity and Vitality of working relationships, Soul and Authentic Corporate Resilience
• The 11th Hour Meetings: are collaborative pop-up think-tanks that aims to approach the unprecedented and potentially catastrophic complexity of current situations from a different direction. At the point where hope evaporates, we explore unease and yearning, rather than ideas or initiatives, imagination driven dreaming rather than evidence based planning. Where possible we invite people who hold very different philosophical positions and strategic approaches. We seek intuitive resilient souls rather than brilliant analytical minds and place greater value on identifying the authentic questions rather than the concluding answers. TESTIMONIALS VISUAL MINUTES “ Visitor numbers for the show were in line with previous years but the Capita stand saw a 200% increase in visitor activity with many individuals returning many times during the day to check on the artists progress . From my point of view we have had much better, deeper dialogue this year than in previous years, a lot of which has validated our thoughts on how to take the technology behind Public Safety to a new level, but here and now, it’s the CreativeConnection team who have made the difference to BAPCO 2012.” David White, Marketing Manager, Capita “Marcel and Gordon were just the perfect artists to have with us for the first Hereford Youth Forum. They were highly professional and accomplished at capturing the essence of what was taking place and creating a skilled artistic impression. Both of them are great with the young people and with the ‘influential’ guests (MP, Mayor, Council Leader and other Councillors + business people). Thanks once again, to both of them and CreativeConnection!” Romy Shovelton, Business Consultant
ANIMATIONS “The animations were really well received and we have had many compliments and supportive comments about them. They have also been a great success as part of our internal communications program as we can see visible results in the communication of the message with lots of interest generated in the topic.” The British Council “ It’s been a real pleasure to work with you. Very pleased with the outcome.”
Tony Wiemer, Budd
FACILITATION / TEAM COACHING “I hired CreativeConnection to help my team become more confident and more focused in achieving our goals. There were issues Tim and the team found that we did not even know about as Tim has a great method for uncovering the ‘elephant under the table’ and then helping us to find our own solutions to resolve those problems. Our team is now the number one performing team in the company.” Greeneking
TRAINING / WORKSHOPS “After the workshop, I put my learning to the test and created a presentation in a Visual Minute format. I then presented this to the executives of the company. It was received really well and was much better than a standard PowerPoint presentation. I would not call myself an ‘excellent artist, but I can now think visually and see elements much more clearly when I draw them out” Dave Snow, Exec Manager technology division “We hired CC to help train our HR group. The group was a mix of the whole team including senior managers. The objective was to ensure that at the end of the session each member was able to create a diagram or story with images to aid them in their communication. Since the training session the team is really getting on well and it’s helped to make our meetings within the team and outside the team so much more interesting! I believe other departments are also now booked on the sessions with CreativeConnection. The results are fantastic the team is thinking and looking at things differently now and the communication between them has improved.” Sue Dempsey, HR Manager
SPECIAL EVENTS “The atmosphere at this event was exhilarating. I came out of The School Of Unknowing and felt like I know it all! The reflection tools really help to clarify situations and has really helped me to improve myself and my business. I also met some amazing people and made some great friends and contacts. Can’t wait for the next one!” Paul Stankeris, Digital Applications
