Removals on time: MP

■ Level crossing removals on the Frankston railway line are running on schedule, according to Deputy Premier Jacinta Allan.

Crossings at Aspendale’s Station St , and Bear St and McDonald St in Mordialloc are to go by 2026, three years faster than expected, Ms Allan said.

The McDonald St and Station St crossings will be removed with elevated rail, allowing the Bear St level crossing to be closed to traffic –reducing the length of boom gate downtime when the Metro Tunnel opens in 2025, with more services running along the Frankston line.

The State Government is removing 110 level crossings across Melbourne by 2030 – making the Frankston, Cranbourne, Pakenham, Lilydale, Sunbury and Werribee lines level crossing free.

Ms Allan, who is Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, said: “We haven’t wasted a moment getting rid of 70 dangerous and congested level crossings, and we’re not slowing down –with more crossings across Melbourne fasttracked and delivering community benefits years ahead of schedule.

“We’re focused on getting Victorians where they need to be, by car and by train, even faster than we promised.”

A 14-year-old Clyde male, a 15-year-old Cranbourne East male and a 14-year-old Nyora male were arrested during a planned operation in Narre Warren, Nyora and Cranbourne East.

They have been charged with aggravated carjacking. The 14-year-olds have been bailed to appear in a Children’s Court at a later date. The 15-year-old was remanded to appear in a Children’s Court at a later date.
